I called Expedia twice prior to arrival in Bali. We were flying in at 12am and after reading that there's no reception you'd have to make contact. All was ok and we were very excited. Well, after passing customs, getting through the taxi guys we were on our way. Aside from this place being pretty much impossible to find (the taxi driver was remarkable patient, he tried to call the place a few times), they weren't there. No phone answer. Nothing. Well, what a start to our holiday. Had to check into another hotel back towards the airport. Next morning set out again for these illusive villas. Someone was actually there. The cleaners. Dropping our bags and looking around the place was pretty depressing. There was actual human poo still in and around the toilet. The aircon barely worked and the pool had a layer of film on it. I don't think this is something that makes me too picky. In need of sleep and the cleaner comes I and says we have to pay. I showed him my Expedia receipt. He has his boss on the phone and says to my partner - you'll need to see my boss, we can take my moped to my home and wait there. Well, the guy seemed lovely but still a little scary. As we were walking back out the door, they were still asking for money. The placement of the hotel is brutal. The guy drove up to find a taxi as none come down there. There's no where really to eat and I wouldn't be wondering around there at night. Pretty disappointed.
