About this property

Come and relax at our beautiful home in Southern Shores, 3 miles south of Duck. Havana Daydreaming has beautiful Ocean views. Come and bike on our bike paths for miles. Beach access directly in front of our home, 400 yards with an easy walk or park at the beach. Private sound beach available for rough days on the ocean with jungle gym and porter potty. Catch your fish and grill with our gas grilling station on a covered deck surrounded by chairs and table with outdoor lighting.

Many amenities, easy access to restaurants, golfing, shopping and more. Partial weeks available OFF season . Saturday to Saturday ONLY rental from Memorial week until Labor Day week unless discussed with us. Work directly with the owner. Paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags are set up for initial arrival however suggest you bring more. Cleaning supplies provided. Bedpads, blankets, pillows provided. Sheets and bath linens available only for the requested beds. Early check in available for a fee,. Well trained dog allowed for a fee. $150 per Dog and limited to 2. 8 guests max plus 1 crib.

Lovely spot for family reunion

Our family of 8 recently stayed here and we had plenty of room. The location is great just North of Kitty Hawk. The nearby beach is recently restored and is beautiful. Although it took me a few days to find everything, the kitchen is really well-outfitted for cooking meals. We ate almost all of our meals in. The top floor kitchen and family room space was a favorite. The house's location across route 12 from the beach was not a problem for us as we did not have lots of young children around. We just had to be alert when crossing the road.

Expectation vs. Reality

Excellent location, really close to the beaches with the provided parking pass from the host. Close to shops and restaurants. There was unfortunately no Ocean view at all as advertised which was a bummer. Good accommodation for larger family and pets, overall pretty spacious. The communication with the host was decent, we even had a family incident that they were willing to work with us on. As far as expectations that were not met, as mentioned above no Ocean view. The lack of/none of the necessary toiletries like toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels etc. We were really looking forward to the hot tub, but it wasn’t in working condition. The host notified me the night before our stay about the hot tub situation which is very last minute. There are a lot of stains on the carpet, since it is pet friendly I would highly recommend not having carpet everywhere. A lot of out-of-date technology for example the surround sound speakers were connected to VHS player. There was a broken cabinet that had occurred from the previous stay and the host mentioned that we can fix it if we had a screw driver, which was odd. We had to dress our own beds, never had that at other places we have stayed. Overall it just felt like the host did not have it ready for us as well as some misleading perks as advertised and mentioned above. If expectations were met we would definitely stay again.

Not living up to its potential

Jacuzzi broken, dishwasher door broken (with a workaround) had to make our own beds, shower door broken and rusty. Thin rough towels. Needed 3 to dry off. 4 washcloths for 9 people. Beach umbrella and 2 of the 4 chairs broken. No first morning coffee service so after a 13 hour drive had to drive to grocery store at 8p. Trash bins full. And lots of instructions of what we were expected to do when we left, that seemed to exceed what they did for our arrival.This property has so much potential and the owners are friendly but they need to step up their game.

Great place to stay and great location, awesome hosts

Had a lovely time at this house. Perfect location for both Duck and getting to places like kill Devils, and Jockeys ridge. House had everything we needed, extra toys, extra beach equipment, lots of kitchen supplies. House was clean and even though there were some very minor hiccups with the hot tub, Becky was so kind to get us dinner to apologize (which was so generous). Had a wonderful stay. Our family of 4 adults and 6 kids had a great time. Super comfortable and not crowded, plenty of room for everyone. Our dogs also had a great time. Recommend for anyone to stay at while going to OBX.

Duck Your Cares in Southern Shored

Nice sized property for family or relatively smaller groups (<10). Amenities (e.g. hot tub, multiple decks, outside kitchen facility, basketball hoop etc.) on site. Short walk to beach access and close to bike path—-though local traffic on Duck Road can be a problem during peak times.

Paul and I built this home with a lot of love and care. You will notice many items like seashell lamps where we walked with our son who is now married and our parents who 3 of the 4 are deceased, paintings etc that have a lot memories. Our home offers somewhere to relax: on the widows nest, hot tub or big couch. We love to tandem and their are lots of trails, etc. We love the Outer Banks and hope you will too.

Why they chose this property

Havana Daydreamin is in a wonderful area, quiet yet close enough to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Beautiful beaches, nice bike trails. Our home is snuggled back on the lot allowing privacy. We built this home and have shared many memories with our son, his friends, our exchange students, family and friends. Many friends have been made with our renters. We have continued to add each year updates as well as high maintenance. 2022 .. painted exterior, some interior painting, updated lighting fixtures, new baby bed, new bed in queen bedroom, new dryer, granite counters in kitchen, new hot tub ordered March 2021 and finally delivered in March 2023, beginning of remodel in master bath to name a few. It is for us primarily but also to share with our guests. Our home is yours and we welcome those who value and respect our home. Will gladly share opportunities to make your holiday fun and filled with great memories.

Havana Daydreamin is a hidden gem: well priced, clean and spacious. It is snuggled up the hill on Duck Rd offering privacy. It is a short distance to the beach walking and parking passes are offered for Hillcrest parking with porta potty and lifeguard as well as the sound beach.
