An overnight stay at Kookaburras offers more than just somewhere to sleep. The additional activities that we provide, offers a “get in amongst it” environment that enables all guests to experience, not only the history of the building but the lifestyle experiences of years gone by.
Creating an open fire pit on the property to simulate a campfire experience of early settlers, with the cooking of damper and the swinging of billy tea, many fabulous nights have been spent around the campfire, with guitars and sing-along’s.
The original Metters No.2 stove in the kitchen has been fully reconditioned to allow guests to experience this part of history if you wish.
The entire property is scattered with relics from the past, from rabbit traps, to plough discs and wooden wheels, from the horse and cart days.
The atmosphere that has been created by Kookaburras is one of a “home away from home” and is highly commended by our guests who are encouraged and invited to help complete a jigsaw, sign it and have it framed and hanging on the wall to mark their stay forever.
We offer at Kookaburras a lovingly refurbished 1884 building with modern and upto date facilites which include all new purpose built beds, matresses and bedding. Off street parking. Coin operated washing machine and dryer. A stunning entertainment and BBQ area. Internet access. Large TV. DVD and stereo. Fire in winter and airconditioning in summer.
