About this property

Petts Cottage, Burnham Market, Norfolk

Petts Cottage is a traditional two-up, two-down small terraced cottage, located just a minute's walk from the centre of Norfolk's loveliest village, Burnham Market. In easy reach of all the shops, pubs and restaurants that make this village so special, and you are well placed for exploring the local area.

This mid-terrace cottage with two bedrooms is a good base for a short break or longer stay. Owned by the same family for many years, it is traditionally furnished with local finds and is suitable for a couple or small family looking for a good location. Enjoy the cosy wood burning stove in the cooler months, or cook up a storm with local produce in the modern well-equipped kitchen. It's so easy to pop to the bakers' or one of the café's or deli to buy croissants and coffee for breakfast before enjoying at the cottage and planning your day. On lazy summer days you can enjoy the fully-enclosed courtyard garden, ideal for a spot of sunbathing or dining al fresco. There's a utility room in the outhouse, so beach wear, soggy dogs and the like can easily be dealt with before sinking into the comfy sofas to relax with a film or book.

On arrival, park up outside and if you fancy, explore the coast by bus, foot or cycle. Or enjoy all the walking and history on your doorstep. A walk to Burnham Thorpe, where Admiral Lord Nelson was born, is well worth doing - be sure to sneak in a local ale or lunch at the famous Lord Nelson pub in the village. Walk eastwards to Burnham Overy Staithe to discover the picturesque little harbour, where you can enjoy a spot of crabbing and walk out to a stunning and secluded beach. Catch the ferry in summer to the remote and beguiling Scolt Head Island.

Customer service

Unfortunately my wife was take seriously Ill whilst we were at Pete Cottage and was rushed to hospital. The concern, and support from Norfolk Holidays was second to none and were there to support us through a very difficult time. My thanks to them.

Cosy warm cottage

The cottage is basic but very cosy and warm. The property would benefit from some new kitchen equipment and the tv could be larger. Parking was easier than expected and we could always park in the road. The location is great and close to all the local amenities. Easy drive to the beach.

Petts Cottage

A nice little cottage which with a bit of TLC would be alot better. The bathroom desperately needs a makeover. Condensation means that the shower curtain looks grim and the radiator is rusting. A working extractor fan would really help. The electric shower is useless. However enough water pressure to use the tap shower hose instead. Mattress's are always contentious. Personally we found these way to soft and squidgy! In the kitchen we put pretty much everything through the dishwasher when we arrived. Nothing was exactly sparkling. Sorry that all sounds negative. Its a nice cottage in a nice spot. Parking is 'interesting'. But we knew that when we booked. As a started with. This place just needs some TLC and it will be 4's and 5's.

Petts cottage Burham market

Lovely location . Cosy cottage. There was just the two of us. If there is any criticism it was only suitable for a two adults or a family with young children. The stair need better hand rails. But we will be going again

Family stay in Burnham Market

We had a lovely few days in the beautiful town of Burnham Market. The cottage was sweet but most definitely needs to be updated. The shower was broken and had to be replaced so we had no shower for 2 out of 4 days which was challenging for 4 people. There was lots of mould behind the towel rail in the bathroom. There was also a plate of something unpleasant left on the table in the garden which hadn’t been cleaned away. Very cosy cottage in great location but definitely needs a bit of a facelift.

Shabby chic - just missing the chic

The positives: good location, adequate storage for two, comfy bed, clean. The negatives: generally awfully furnished with cheap items that have been painted and the paint is coming off. Rusty bathroom rail. Uninviting garden overgrown with weeds. Kitchen very poor. Small television. Electrical socket labelled as next check due November 2014. Shower screen falling to bits. Stairs carpet feels like it has no underlay - very hard under the feet (note the bathroom is downstairs so this is an issue). A very disappointing property and we would definitely not return.

Lovely location in the heart of Burnham Market

Great cottage in a great location with Burnham Market on your door step. Our dog enjoyed with through lounge/kitchen leading to an enclosed, safe back garden. Plenty of kitchen equipment if you want to source some fine meat and fish from just round the corner, otherwise you're spoilt for choice to dine out locally or nearby. Half an hour walk to the marshes, where the views are to die for.
