Wonderful location. Very dog friendly with great garden and dog park just a 5 minute walk away. Beautiful walks along the canal. Small but well equipped.
A very enjoyable break in a lovely village with close proximity to local attractions. The Chapel was ideal for us and our dog who loved the local walks
Absolutely fabulous property. Beautifully decorated, quality linens, cloud puffy pillows, very clean, really well stocked with essentials and situated in an area that is stunning, peaceful and quiet.
This home is in a quiet, beautiful village near innumerable interesting sites and walks. The kitchen is well-appointed and easy to use. The bathroom is clean and has a very nice shower. There is a private garden, a designated parking spot, a nice village pub, church and community center. It was a delightful and restful stay.
Quiet retreat in a lovely old chapel, beautifully converted for comfort and easy living. Located in a small village, a quick walk through the village takes you to canal-side walks to see the locks and narrowboats. Beautiful Marlborough is a short car ride away and well worth a visit as is Savernake Forest with its woodland walks.
An absolute delight, we stayed for 9 nights and could have stayed many more. Wonderful converted Chapel in a picturesque village with very friendly locals. We would definitely stay there again, extremely happy with all aspects of the property. The hosts do their best to make sure you have everything you need, thank you Oliver and Emily!
We loved our stay and will definitely be back. It had everything we needed and was wonderfully placed for various days out and activities.Only tip - if you’re going to be arriving in the dark, have a Quick Look on Google Earth before you set off so you know what you’re aiming for. The village is beautifully quiet but also very dark if it’s dark and you’re not quite sure where you’re going!!
Just what we needed, a perfect cosy retreat with endless walks from our doorstep. Small issue with a broken toaster which was replaced the same day with no fuss. Nice welcome pack, safe garden for our small dog. Perfect!
Christmas Break for my wife and I and our youngest grandson
The property is truly amazing and even more so than when viewing it online, prior to making the booking. It is so well equipped and beautifully laid out, including the cosy log fire which our grandson enjoyed lighting and looking after it.
Quite clearly a lot of thought has gone into the restoration of the building and if we could have stayed any longer, we certainly would have done so.
We strongly recommend staying at The Old Chapel as it is located in a lovely friendly and peaceful village. There is a lovely 16th Century thatched roof pub within a few minutes walk, the publicans and staff make you feel very welcome. There is a cosy log fire in the restaurant area and there is a wide variety of food and drinks always available, which are excellent.
We will definitely be returning to The Old Chapel in the New Year, as we had such a memorable time there over the Christmas period.
We had three days at this property and would highly recommend it. Great position in a picture perfect English village, welcoming local pub just a very short walk away and some fantastic places to visit nearby. We took our dog and he had a great time on the walks up the canal as well as Savernake forest. Property is very well decorated jn a restful colour with great amenities and every needed to cook in, eat out or grab a takeaway. Will def look to come back. Thanks for a great few days!
The location was lovely and the Chapel premises very comfortable with everything you need provided, a good upgrade from the 1700s! The dog loved the spacious garden and we loved the area.
We enjoyed a lovely few days at The Chapel as we wanted a peaceful break. Just what we had! This Chapel is beautifully decorated with every thing you need, very welcoming and cosy. The perfect break. We had our dog with us and the garden was secure for him to play in. We have already mentioned this gem to our parents who may come and stay too. Thank you Emily & Oli x
The shower room floor was grubby and the bottom of the shower door was needing a good clean it was a shame these were evident as the down stairs was good .
It would have been a plus if comfortable chairs were there to sit on out side on the patio area.
However we enjoyed the location and our stay on the whole,
This is a delightful holiday let. It is warm, comfortable and well equipped. It is situated in a lovely village ( we counted 30 thatched homes but there could be more ) within easy reach of good walks and places of interest. It was lovely to find the “chapel” decorated for Christmas.
The owners were efficient and quick to respond to a query. A beautifully done conversion. Despite being small it’s design is clever and maximum space achieved. Wootton Rivers is a pretty unspoilt village with good pub.
The Chapel was a lovely and Wootton Rivers is an idyllic country village in what we believe is the best county in England. The Chapel was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The owners had left a very kind welcome pack which was very much appreciated. Highly recommended (but the master bed is a little hard
We've just spent 3 days at The Chapel. It's been immaculately and tastefully renovated with everything we could possibly need. The welcome pack of eggs, bread and coffee was welcomed, plus the set fire! Super clean, easy to communicate with the owners and a very descriptive user manual to avoid any issues. Shower was nice and strong, bed was comfy and most of all it felt homely which is great when the autumnal weather isn't playing ball. The village is thatched picture perfect with the pub about 100m down the road. The canal is just a little past that and good for dog walks along with other walks off the canal. We'd highly recommend a walk in Savernake Forest a few miles away. Great paths and you can be out for hours. If you have an enthusiastic bigger dog like ours, just be aware that the back garden joins the front which has a low fence. I've been assured that a partition from front to back will be put in place imminently. If you have a 'normal' dog, this won't be an issue :) Just check with the owners! We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend. 5*
What a lovely place to spend a few days. The Old Chapel has been cleverly converted and charming. Perfectly spotless, with everything we could need. A very generous welcome basket and clear house manual. Set in a beautiful peaceful village surrounded by countryside and pretty canal walks. Everyone we met was so friendly. Thank you Emily and Oli, we would certainly love to stay again.

About the host
Your host
We are a family with two young children who moved to the beautiful village of Wootton Rivers from London in 2016 and haven't looked back! We'd love to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
The Old Chapel was originally converted into a dwelling in the early eighties. We had the opportunity to purchase the property in early 2018 and as its latest guardians we renovated and reconfigured the conversion to make better use of the space available and bring the decor up to date. The location in the heart of this very pretty village is wonderful with beautiful walks and cycle rides from the door step and views down the garden across open fields.
What makes this property unique
As part of the renovation we were able to reveal some of the original chapel features which had been hidden for the past 35 years, such as one of the arched windows going up the stairs and exposing the A-frames in the ceilings upstairs. We have turned it into a comfortable retreat, with stylish decor, underfloor heating in the bathroom and luxury, 100% cotton bed linen and towels. There is also an extensive garden with stunning views across open country side which can be seen through the french windows as soon as you step through the front door.
