Lovely stay. Perfect for the beach or a cliff walk.
It’s in a good location but the road that runs along side it, is a bit noisy. When the cars are quiet, you can hear the waves which is nice. It’s in a good location as Portland has some lovely, slightly challenging walks but it’s also a good position to drive to many other lovely locations.
Water sports nearby, we didn’t use the facilities but they looked great.
Parking was slightly tricky but managed to get a space with a bit of patience!

A great stay overall a shame that one of the ovens was out of order which makes Christmas Day lunch a challenge and with the dishwasher not working ment extra hassle for the family

This was a great holiday home.
This was a great holiday home. It had all of the facilities for my family. I only slightly reduced the location mark because of the road noise but this did not affect the enjoyment of our stay. Great outdoor eating, two bathrooms very comfortable, spacious and well equipped.

We had an excellent stay at Elizabethan House - choosing it because it is close to my family and was large enough to host Christmas Day and New Years Eve with family . Oscar and Nigel were very good at communicating with us and tried to sort out any issues that we had whilst we were there.
It was lovely to arrive with the house decorated for Christmas and a lovely welcome hamper.
We will definitely book it again and recommend it to family and friends.

We have rented Elizabethan House for this past week and have some observations which may help to make your future guests more comfortable.
Although in a very noisy location, the house is perfectly situated for the National Sailing Centre. However, there are a few items that need attention.
Although it is relatively well equipped, our main complaints are with the kitchen;
The oven is a disgrace. It is filthy and needs a thorough professional clean.
The potato peeler is useless.
The dishwasher does not operate properly with the large plates provided.
The dish rack is disgusting and too dirty to use. The sink does not have any other drying/draining facility.
Surely basic ingredients like salt and pepper grinders, olive oil and washing up liquid could be made available to renters? Other houses we have rented have always provided these basic ingredients.
Although the TV has the ability to connect to "on demand" services such as BBC iplayer or Netflix, and the house has wifi, the TV is not connected to the internet so none of these services are available to your guests. Maybe this is less important in the summer months but is a pretty basic requirement for wet days and dark winter nights.
It would be also be very useful for the ensuite shower-room to be equipped with, if not a proper heated towel rail, at least some hooks to hang wet towels.
Also, given the location, many guests will be participating in water sports so will have lots of wet gear that will need drying. Having more hooks by the front door and in the bathrooms for hanging wet gear and towels to dry would be very helpful, especially when the weather and temperatures are not conducive to drying things outside.
On the positive side, we loved the wood stove, although we did have to go purchase matches because the lighter would not work.

The owners are very helpful and even returned something to me in the post that I accidentally left behind.

Not to my taste
The house is mostly spacious but unfortunately all the stripped pine and old floorboards weren’t to my taste. Given there were six of us I found it difficult to cook in the small kitchen, which badly needs some new pots and pans. A spring clean of the kitchen is badly needed too. My daughter found it difficult to sleep because of the noise of the traffic, and she’s used to living in London! I also thought the handrail on the steep stairs to the top floor should be extended for complete safety, and the two steps down to the kitchen need some sort of hazard warning because it would be easy to miss them and fall. Strangely the hair dryer had been PAT tested when there were other hazards.

Lovely old house a short walk from the beach.
Lovely old house a short walk from the beach. I think best described as quirky. Large open plan living/dining area with really comfy sofas. I found the upstairs layout odd having a staircase to the master bedroom and another to the rest of the house but it is very old. There is a wooden partion wall between the master bedroom and the twin room so no sound proofing at all. We had a nice short break, the location good despite being on a very busy road and shops up a very steep hill.

A great quirky house, well equipped, and great sociable layout, good location for the sailing academy, only spoiled by a Dorset parking officer giving me a ticket for what I assume was having a wheel on the kerb in the car park outside the house!!
