Visit the Harris Distillery in Tarbert, where you can enjoy a tour of the distillery and of course sample some of the famous Harris Gin, or head further south to Leverburgh and catch a ferry to North Uist for a day out. The Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, Ness Heritage Centre, Carloway Broch and the historic Callanish Standing Stones are all well worth a visit.
Some of the most stunning white sandy beaches in the British Isles can be found on the Outer Hebrides, with incredible aqua waters they are absolutely breathtaking! Boat trips from Harris or Lewis offer a chance to spot an abundance of wildlife, or further afield discover the archipelago St. Kilda, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For those who enjoy music, there are a number of festivals that take place throughout the year, including the popular Hebridean Celtic Festival in July. Outdoor enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with a variety of activities to choose from, including hill walking, trout fishing on the many lochs only a short distance from the cottage, surfing, golf, diving, sea kayaking, cycling and wild swimming. Sea eagles, herons, otters and seals can be seen from the cottage. Artists and photographers will not be disappointed, with dramatic landscapes, spectacular sunsets and on occasions an opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The Outer Hebrides are truly magical, allowing you to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 12 miles.
