About this property
New April 2019 listing- A cosy quirky cottage
My little beamed cottage is the ideal base for a couple, to explore Bridport town, which is a 5 minute walk. The coast, West Bay is just 1 mile away and you can reach it by taking a pleasant walk along the river.
The house dates back to 1860 and was an old Mill cottage, one of several. It is situated slightly set back from the A35. There are a couple of steps and a small gravel garden at the front. On entering you step straight into an open plan living room , leading through to the newly renovated kitchen, which has room for a table and chairs and breakfast bar overlooking a small tributary of the river with lovely views of fields and sheep ,and ducks out the back kitchen window. I have no back door, but around the side of the terrace is a small back garden. There are many country walks close by, yet it is so near the centre of this lovely market town.
Upstairs is the front double bedroom and a single bedroom with a daybed in and views over the fields. Wake up to the sound of the country if you are in the small back room. The bathroom has a bath, with shower above and lovely views also. The front faces the main road , however I do have double glazing.
There is broadband and unusually the electric fuse box is hidden in a grandfather clock as you enter the front door!

About the host
Hosted by Mel Argent

I have recently moved to Dorset from East Devon for work and family reasons, and because I love the area. I have always wanted to live in Bridport because of the size of the town and the music, arts and culture it offers. I love being close to the sea and the surrounding countriside is great for walkers, I lived in Devon for 30 years, but I originally come from Hampshire. I lived in Turkey for 6 years and enjoy travel and meeting people from other cultures. I have a grown up daughter and elderly mother who live half an hour away, in different places.
Why they chose this property
I would like you to experience the delights of Dorset and being close to the sea. Although my property is small it is homely and comfortable and has lovely views out the back. There is a nature reserve close by where there is unlimited parking, and many lovely walks. It is close to the town centre and lots of lovely walks and countryside.
What makes this property unique
This is my home , not a full time holiday home, and you are welcome in it. It is a little quirky. My favourite feature is a home made grandfather clock , which hides the fuse box for the house!
I am happy with my new kitchen and love the view at the back of the house. It is cosy is the winter and has a Turkish feel due to the decor from my accumulated from travels.
