About the host
Hosted by Dan Sasquatch
I am a holistic healthcare practitioner (chiropractor) of over 25 years who, like Thoreau, went into the woods to "live deliberately." My objective is to live in peace and health while promoting sustainable, responsible culture. I host a talk radio program about this subject, so I actively promote independent thought and dialogue to this effect. Be careful about loosely asking questions -- I like to impart what I've learned thus far and share conversation. There is so much more to learn (a lifetime of lessons living out here) and it's soulful work, so I'm relatively enthusiastic about how important and relevant this subject is.
Why they chose this property
It's accessible to civilization but removed. All of our water is gravity fed and of the highest quality -- the best water you'll ever likely drink. The rain forest climate here ensures a plentiful supply (even though it may be too plentiful during the winter months).
What makes this property unique
Beyond the filled capacity of woofers, interns and guests in the summer, it's quiet here in the forest. You can hear the wind blow and the rush of streams all around us. As I am fond of saying .. "there's nothing to do here." Of course there are lots of games and conversation to be had in the Hygge Hall, trails to hike, etc, but we have little access to technology so we can all unplug.
The land is rugged, steep mountainous terrain and our agroforestry orchards and garden have a permaculture emphasis. No, we don't grow pot (like everyone else in the emerald triangle). Our orchards and gardens have a created beauty and abundance -- feel free to forage and nourish yourself. We share.
