About this property
ST AGNES, pet friendly, with a garden in Borth-Y-Gest
Holiday cottage with sea views in Borth y Gest, Llyn Peninsula. 5 minute walk to eateries and local shop. 10 minute drive to Porthmadog. Beach on the doorstep. TV.
What a fabulous holiday cottage! St Agnes stands in the most stunning location and every room enjoys breathtaking views along the coastline and across the bay to Cnicht, ‘the Welsh Matterhorn'. So much care and thought has gone into the refurbishment of this delightful terraced house.
"We love Borth y Gest - St Agnes looks across the pretty little bay with some wonderful beaches just round the corner."
A short stroll takes you to a delightful sandy cove, known locally by some as ‘Sian's Cove' (Sian owns St Agnes!). Borth Y Guest has a good restaurant and a lovely cafe on the front. A short drive or a reasonable walk away is Porthmadog, which has interesting shops and galleries, and restaurants - try Yr Hen Fecws or The Ship. You can ride on the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways, or venture into the mountains of Snowdonia.
Whether it is early morning or the end of a busy day it is so relaxing to watch the ebb and flow of the tide in this pretty half moon bay.
Amenities: Central heating, four-ring hob, oven, fridge with ice compartment, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, Stairgate on 2nd floor, TV, enclosed garden, garden furniture, bed linen and towels inc, travel cot (no linen), high chair. 2 small well behaved dogs welcome with a supplement of £20 per dog. Shop 1 mile. Note: Loos are Saniflow, specific instructions will be in the house where appropriate. Note: There is no allocated parking for St Agnes but there is a car park nearby. If you own a paddle board, kayak or sailing dinghy the garden is close to the slip way.
Town: Borth y Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth y Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway? For a day trip the entire Llyn Peninsula calls. With Anglesey within reach and the whole North Wales coast with the Wales Coast Path to be explored, Borth y Gest has it all: a quiet bolt hole but conveniently located for ease of access to this stunning area, a must at any time of the year.
