Modern Villa with Magnificent Sea and Mountain Views.
The property is a Modern Spanish style house built on 3 levels and exists within a small secure gated community which boasts lovely gardens and a large community pool. The property built in 2003 has been updated and refreshed November 2021.
At the side of the property is owners private parking. on the car port. Entering the property on the top floor, there is an entrance hall, WC, modern American style kitchen and large lounge. The front of the lounge is fully glazed patio doors opening onto a terrace with seating and occasional table.
The second level down has 3 double bedrooms all with air conditioning and ceiling fans for summer comfort. The Master bedroom has a super-king size bed, en suite and dressing room. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed and the Bedroom 3 has standard double bed. All bedrooms have patio doors which open onto a part covered terrace and have views of the bay and mountains. The floors throughout the house are marble.
The third level, the ground floor, is the Owners Apartment. The Apartment is reached by an outside staircase. We are a maturing couple, keen on sport and travel. We have a small, friendly dog, called Teddy.
The property nestles on the side of Cero Gordo hill at 145m above sea level with views of the spectacular horse shoe bay and the surrounding mountains. The house stands next to Cerro Gordo Natural Park and the Cabra Montas (Mountain Goats) can often been seen wandering through the Pueblo or sitting on the rocks next to the house.
The lounge and bedrooms all face the bay and the mountains and enjoy the early morning sun as it comes up over the Punta dela Mona which is at the opposite end of the bay to Cerro Gordo.
The lounge terrace is ideal for day dreaming, as you watch the fishing boats near the bay, the sailing boats and cruisers and commercial shipping on the horizon. If you sit there long enough may be fortunate enough to watch the dolphins that sometimes come to play in the bay; the terns diving from great heights to catch fish; the birds of prey hovering. looking for their next meal.
As the day progresses you can watch the surfers, wind-surfers, dingy sailors, dive boats, kayaks and para-gliders all enjoying their sports in the waters and air of the bay.... or you could join them. The bay is the center for Diving in the area and offers tasters and professional courses(PADI). The bay offers some of the best diving along the whole Spanish coast, with its underwater caves and unique seabed which is a protected coastal area.
La Herradura has now re-opened the Castillio as a museum. The Civic Center contains an English Library and has exhibitions of local Art , fitness programmes and other cultural events.
Almunecar has many of the original charms of a Spanish Village. The town is overlooked by its Castle which is high above the town on the rocks above the sea making it secure against the invaders. The Castle is open to the public and has 2 museums, one in the castle and one housed in a cave type setting a few hundred meters away. The castle grounds below show the remains of a fishery and the park is now a festival of trees. Also in this area are the Bird Park and the Aquarium which has many species of local fish and includes a glass walk way under and through the Sharks and Rays.
Nerja is a mix of modern and old offering many restaurants and bars. The center point of activity is either the Balcon de Europa which extends out to sea giving views of the coastline to both the east and west or Tuti Fruti Square if you are looking for nightlife.
Nerja boasts one of the top 10 attractions in Spain - The Caves of Nerja which has the thickest stalagmite column in Europe. The caves, history center and restaurant are well worth a visit. The Coastline for Andalucia has many Torres (towers) and Castles (Almunecar and Salobrena, local).
Away from the coast and within an hours drive are many attractions. The Alhambra was built in 1492 and is linked with the geographical place where it is located: Granada. On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose.
If you like mountains and food the visit the Alpujarras with its craft villages and Trevelez, the center of the Spanish Jamon Industry. The Sierra Nevada is spectacular area with the Sol y Nieve (Sun and Snow) area offering tourists a place for outdoor activities in either summer or winter at a height of 2500 meters. Look up at Mulhacen the highest mountain in mainland Spain at 3482 meters (11424 ft.)

Wonderful accommodation!
Our family really loved our week long stay in this wonderful view property! Colin and his wife were very friendly and helpful in every way and the property was clean and very nicely appointed. This is a truly excellent property, in a truly magical location. It is very peaceful with simply stunning views of the bay of La Herradura. We could not have been happier and wish to return soon!

Thanks William for your great review. Was nice to have you and the family stay .... you are all welcome back anytime!
We had a great week. The villa was perfect with amazing views. It was very well kept with lots of indoor and outdoor space. The communal pool was almost a private pool as there was rarely any one else there. Great hosts who were very helpful but not at all intrusive.
Would highly recommend.

Long overdue holiday with friends
The best feature of this property is the view which is stunning. Unfortunately we feel there are many issues which might concern future visitors.
Food, some of it in open containers had been left by previous guests. Bearing in mind the recent Covid epidemic this seemed to us to be unhygienic to say the least. On first entering, the kitchen looked clean but on closer inspection it was obvious a thorough wash and clean of all crockery, cutlery and other kitchenware was required. Dust was present in all bedrooms and one hand towel in the bathroom was filthy. During our 2 week stay there was no change to any of the towels or bed linen, these issues raised questions about the maintenance of cleaning operations in the villa. There are also minor problems associated with the electrical supply sockets in the property, which would probably lead to certification issues in the U.K. Although we had read that the owner lived on the ground floor of the property, the description said that he entered by an outside staircase, this was true but it failed to mention that he had to pass your kitchen window and kitchen door to get to the staircase once there he had to proceed downstairs which led onto your second balcony passing your bedroom windows in order to proceed down another flight of stairs before reaching his accommodation.
During our stay workmen arrived to fit a new door in the owners property, It was early and we had only just woken, all this was happening outside our bedroom window. We think at the very least it would have been curtious to ask if we minded and possibly a mutual time agreed, obviously privacy is an issue here.
The property next door is extremely close and appears to be devoid of sound insulation, which means the sounds produced by neighbours together with conversations could be easily overheard and we were disturbed on two evenings by late partying.
The area of Cerro Gordo in which the villa is situated, has, in the past, been subjected to some geophysical instability and several houses in the immeadiate vicinity of Calle Romero are suffering varying degrees of damage with some being condemned outright, this also serves to add a rather somber aire to an otherwise beautiful natural area. The roads leading to the property also suffer from subsidence brought about by the geological fault, which could cause damage to vehicles, if not driven with care - Car owners beware!
All in all our stay at the Bahai Vista was disappointing.

As a Premier Host of VRBO, I was shocked and alarmed to receive a 2 star rating. I asked myself what went wrong. The answer is believe is a lack of COMMUNICATION from the Client!
Anne had never mentioned to me, any of the issues or concerns that are listed above during her stay! Retrospectively, it is now impossible for me to now comment on them.
Anne does not mention that on the second day she asked if we could provide beach towels as they had not packed any. These we provided the same morning. She does not mention that when they locked themselves out I got them back into the house after only a few minutes. Whenever I see my guests I always ask "Is everything OK ?" I never received a negative response.to this question from Anne or her guests,
We would love things to be perfect all the time, but sometimes they are not for a variety of reasons. However, we pride ourselves on correcting any issues promptly and with the minimum of inconvenience to the client. As you will have read in previous reviews. Lastly, let me assure you that the electrical system is safe (and to Spanish Standards) and whilst there is subsidence in the approach road, if you acknowledge the warning signs and observe the speed recommendations, then, you are more likely to damage your car on the numerous speed bumps we have in Spain.

This family booked for 4 adults.
They came with 6 people. They felt that children did not count. This caused a problem till VRBO explained to them that children are part of the group and they should pay 6.
Because of the configuration, Husband and Wife, 2 adult males and 2 children one male had to sleep on a sofa.
Regarding parking it does not state anywhere that we have 2 parking spaces on the property. Parking is available in the gated community near to the property.
I would not rent my property to this family group again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for your feedback. The thermostat issue has been resolved. The sliding patio doors do not lock, so people can not lock themselves on the terrace. Security is achieved by closing the shutters, which are operating properly. Hope to visit us again 👍
The best first: the view from the terraces! Simply fantastic!
The apartment is very lovingly furnished. Everything is there that you need for a short, but also longer stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, even with barbecue equipment. We didn't miss anything. Colin is a very accommodating host and was available at all times and for everything. The only criticism was a squeaky bed, which didn't bother our overall well-being. I can only recommend the house.
Thank you Colin and Deborah for being patient hosts! I had many questions that were answered in a timely way. Colin shared with me local info about buses and fiestas, which we wouldn’t have known about!
There is a charge per unit for electricity but with careful use this was under 50 euros for a fortnight and we were comfortable.
It is a very steep climb up from the town, we were glad to have a car and would recommend this.
The communal pool was well kept and large. Never had an issue getting a sunbed there.
The view from the balcony is stunning!!
An unforgettable stay in a magnificent apartment and an incredible view !
Wonderful, very comfortable apartment, very friendly owners, quiet location, spectacular view of the sea and the mountains! What more could you ask for!
Accueil très chaleureux de Colin.
La maison est tout a fait conforme à la description.
Vue splendide sur la baie de la Herradura.
Nous recommandons cette location
We were very happy staying in this house. It was really too large for the two of us but it was nice to have the space. The house is very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and there are great views from the. terraces . We had few problems. We had to call on the host a few times for instructions and he responded quickly and was most helpful. It was lovely and peaceful here and we would certainly return to this place again.
Merci à colin et Déborah
