The house is officially open to the public 10 days a year, although the owners are delighted to welcome small groups to the house and gardens, appealing to many enthusiasts.

8/10 Good

Lovely location sitting up on a hill from nearby Inverbervie.
Lovely location sitting up on a hill from nearby Inverbervie. The view from the end of the driveway down to the coast is wonderful. The cottage is well equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine, dishwasher (with tablets in cupboard), microwave and cooker etc. There was milk in the fridge, some tea/coffee for an arrival cuppa and a packet of shortbread. The three bedrooms were comfortable, the upstairs bathroom looked a bit tired but was perfectly functional. It was warm and cosy. Converted from the former school there is plenty of character with high ceilings and large multi-pane windows. Very peaceful location. The Grassic Gibbon centre is next door. The historic St Ternan's church is a short walk away (the final resting place of several of my ancestors) with the memorial to Lewis Grassic Gibbon. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, there are many fabulous beaches to explore and plenty interesting and historical places to visit.
