Villa de Sao Paulo -

The Self Catering villa Sao Paulo has been newly built with one floor only and has 600 m2 in area. It is situated in a safe and quiet area, 5 minutes from the center of Funchal and 20 minutes from the airport by car. It has a large veranda around the house with a wonderful view to the sea and to Funchal harbor and mountains, a little garden decorated with typical flowers from Madeira Island and an 8. 00 x 4.00 swimming pool, 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 6 persons: Room 1- double bed, with sliding doors leading onto the balcony. Room 2 - double bed, including bathroom with bath, bidet and toilet, sliding doors leading onto the balcony. Room 3 - twin single beds with window that leads to balcony. One communal bathroom for rooms 1 and 2 with bath, shower and toilet. Other details as bed linen and towels are provided. It also includes a spacious living / dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room, a barbecue with a toilet and a garage. Other services can be provided (transfer from and to the airport, car rental)

Madeira with friends

The property was amazing. We spent a few days in Madeira exploring the island and doing some hiking and the house was the perfect home base. Located manageable distance from Funchal but far enough that it was peaceful and quiet. Had the most amazing view. Truly had no complains and the property was everything I could’ve asked for.

Amazing views in Madeira

First, I have to say the views in this secluded villa were amazing. We even got lucky one night and saw the fireworks on the bay. The property is exactly as described, the host was gracious and we spoke on the phone prior to arriving. We loved our stay here, the kids enjoyed the pool and game room and we even used the outdoor grill one night. It’s felt like we were home. Thank you so much for letting us share your beautiful home these last 5 days.

Beautiful, peaceful place to stay

The property was well kept and very clean and in a lovely quiet spot. The farm next door was fantastic for fresh vegetables and fruit. Patricia did everything she could to be helpful and was extremely friendly with both the adults and children in our group. As has been said before the taxis are a bit unpredictable with their prices and you do need to agree a price before you get in as we were charged 25 euros one day and 8 the next day for a trip from the town centre! We found a fantastic taxi driver called Marco who drove carefully (which is unusual) and never overcharged us, in fact we used him for several day trips all over the island (964756117 is the number) and the kids loved both him and his father who drove us one day when Marco was ill. The view from the villa is amazing and I could have looked at it all day but the pool was quite chilly even in July and a bit awkward to get around as it looks like it has been added on as an afterthought. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed both Madeira and the villa and would love to come back one day to visit the things we missed. As a final thought, don't miss the gardens at Monte, they are amazing and relatively cheap to get in, we also went to the botanical gardens which were much more expensive and nowhere near a good (great for kids too) Gill and Steve Goldstraw and the kids, Jasmine 18, Summer 18, Trinity 12 and Ty 10

A sunny week in Madeira

This house is outstanding. Its attention to detail is excellent. It is extremely spacious. It has everything you could possibly want - in the kitchen, in the laundry, in the bathroom and in the living areas. There is a games room. The pool is great on a very hot day. If anything the photographs and description don't do it justice. It is, quite simply, first class. The view from the terrace is absolutely stunning. You can look over Funchal (on a Saturday night you can enjoy the fireworks in the harbour), watch the boats go by or sit and watch the sun go down in the evening. Wake up in the mornings, open the curtains and gaze at the blue Atlantic – one day we saw dolphins. If you are reasonably fit you can walk up 101 steep steps to the main road to catch a bus into Funchal (about 10 minutes and 4 euro), walk for about 10 minutes to Zarco’s restaurant (excellent) and where there is a chemist or turn right and walk to Hotel Gardens for a drink/meal. However, to stay here for any length of time you probably need a car, although we were there for a week without one but never ventured further than Funchal. A taxi back from Funchal is about 8 euro. There are no shops in the vicinity. However, and we cannot emphasise this enough, the greatest advantage of this property is its owners. Patricia and Fernando could not have been more courteous, more helpful or more determined for us to enjoy our stay on this island. They can be contacted at any time and will help with anything. If you are ok with staying outside of the capital and away from it – then don’t bother looking at anything else, stay here.

Une vue magnifique sur funchal, des hôtes fantastiques et que dire de la maison avec son bar et salle de billard qui nous ont fait passé de très bonnes soirées. A lovely, comfortable house with everything you need. Location is so peaceful (15 mins drive to Funchal.) Patricia & Fernando helpful & friendly throughout. Welcome pack was excellent. The island is beautiful but you definitely need a car to get around. We managed to see so much of this beautiful place. So many places to eat & take in the views. Driving isn’t for the faint hearted but it’s worth it to see everything. The house is clean & comfortable. The pool is perfect and the games room a bonus for children. The hosts make life easier simply by being there if you need anything.

A wonderful stay on the island in the sun...

We’ve just returned from a fantastic trip to Villa São Paulo on the beautiful island of Madeira. We were given a wonderful welcome by Patricia and Fernando and the villa did not disappoint. Spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable with everything you might need…….well equipped kitchen, wifi, tv, two good bathrooms, three very comfortable double bedrooms and a good size pool. Oh yes, a pool table and dart board too!!! And the views……...spectacular at anytime of the day and night, but particularly so at sunset. The villa is not too far (5-15 minute walks) from a couple of lovely restaurants. We didn’t hire a car, but if you do there is private parking. Cabs are easy to book and there are two bus routes (also about 5-10 minutes walk to bus-stops) that go into Funchal. Patricia was very helpful and we knew we could contact her easily should we need to throughout our stay…...but we didn’t need to. Everything went swimmingly! June 16-24th 2014 As the English lottery motto says, “You’ve got to be in it to win it”; Well with this place believe us that you have certainly Hit the Jackpot by booking this Villa . The casa is situated in a quiet area of Funchal, far away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to Down Town. 10 Euros gets you a taxi into Funchal. We didn't try the bus because we where too lazy to walk up the hill to the main road and catch (I think its) #29 bus into town. The relaxing balcony overlooks the bay of Funchal, and has the most amazing views of the harbour and mountains. Close by is a Market Garden just watch those guys tending there crops ready for delivery to market. It must be back breaking work. Now Ladies You will not be disappointed with the facilities this house has to offer. Well to be quite honest it has every thing at hand for your needs. It also has WI-FI which is a great asset when touring other countries. I told Patricia the only thing missing was plastic cups for use around the inviting pool which is not too big or deep and is just the right place to take a dip during those warm days when you are taking a lazy day off from sightseeing this wonderful Island of Madeira. Now for the Hosts; Well what can I say??? Patricia and Fernando are the most wonderful and helpful hosts one could wish to meet. In the evenings depending the time of year, sit and view from the balcony with a Poncha... if you don't know how to make this ask Fernando to tell you what to buy and I know he would be more than happy to show you how to make this very strong drink, which I'm told I will always have hair while I'm taking a drink!!!! They will give you all their recommendations if you ask them; Example=== Ask for Dish of the Day when choosing at the restaurants, it costs less than the standard menu. Yes folks this place is so great we are DEFINITELY most definitely going to book this place again. In fact we are starting to call it “Our second home” WE had this place for one week, then moved on to the (24th - 30th ) in Santo da Serra which is a nice little homely cottage in the mountains, suitable for two but a great place and location to get about in the car to other places. Toller Blick auf Funchal

Wir waren leider nur 1 Woche in der Villa Sao Paulo. Das Haus ist sehr geräumig und bestens ausgestattet. Alles ist sehr sauber und der Blick auf Funchal von den verschiedenen Terrassen ist einfach großartig. Was uns am besten gefallen hat war die Ruhe. Ideally located for all activities & relaxing view

5 reasons to choose to Sao Paulo villa ! - well suited and well equipped villa, for 4-6 persons, convenient house design; - for a 1st stay, proximity of various main centres: funchal, gardens (exotic), montains (Pico Ruivo), walks allowing to use the pool at return; - proximity of shops (3km) and restaurants (top = Borda d'Agua, at Ribeira Brava) - easy destinations from north to west - car is necessary, and with sufficient power in some mountains with 4 pers. Otherwise, multiple possibilities for bus and ships tours from Funchal; - walking in the Levadas; top = 25 Fontes (primary forest), Pico Ruivo and Sao Lourenco - the kindness of Patricia & Fernando at your arrival/departure including specialities of the island. Superb villa, lovely people

The villa was clean, spacious and extremely well-equiped. Patricia and Fernando were there to meet us on arrival (following a hassle-free transfer from the airport) and they were so welcoming and friendly it made a lovely start to our holiday. Being a family of four with two teenage daughters we valued the spaciousness of the house and the two bathrooms!! We used the pool every day and particularly enjoyed the view, the hammock and the BBQ. The description of the villa is accurate (though the picutres really don't do it justice) and Patricia and Fernando were such friendly hosts, available if needed but not intrusive. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but it has to be said a reasonable level of fitness (and strong knees) are required as the hills are steep!! The farm next door had a great shop for fresh fruit and veg and the supermarket was within easy driving distance. Car definitely needed (though other guests seemed to have got to grips with the buses!). We would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Sao Paulo for your holiday in Madeira.

Amazing villa!

This is a great villa, the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The owners are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there, the games room was a real hit with the teenagers. Recommend a car to get about, although nothing is a long drive away

Superb is not enough...

The best is not only the view but the owners. They do everything in the best way to help and make the holiday "magnifique" Look very carefull at the photos and imagine that in real it is thousands times better !!! Dont forget about the two lovely cats which come every morning for the milk... We will be back next year.

Wunderschönes Haus mit tollem Ausblick

Hallo Patricia, hallo Fernando, nochmals danke für den herzlichen Empfang. Wir waren von Eurem Haus begeistert, das sogar noch schöner und größer ist, als man auf den Fotos sehen kann. Wir fühlten uns rundum super betreut, alles war sehr sauber und gepflegt, die Ausstattung sehr gut. Wir werden Euer Haus und Eure Gastlichkeit gerne weiterempfehlen, zudem die Lage sehr gut ist, man hat einen tollen Ausblick auf Funchal und den Hafen und man ist sehr schnell auf der Autobahn und in der Stadt, trotzdem wohnt man ruhig. Villa Sao Paulo

A fabulous villa with a magnificent view of Funchal. Have no doubt, villa Sao Paulo has all you could ever want for your holiday. We had pretty high expectations after reading other reviews, but we were still impressed. The pictures does not justify the villa, and it is actually bigger than you might expect. Patricia and Fernando are the kind of hosts you can only dream of getting. So nice and warmhearted, and the best of service from day one until the day we left. The house and it owners make you feel like your coming to an actual home, visiting old friends. And believe me, without mentioning all particulars, you will not miss anything in the house. If you should, I am pretty sure it will be taken care of by your hosts very quickly. When we arrived, the villa was spotless clean. It was fresh flowers inside, and lots of fresh fruit on the kitchen table. Patricia had also provided wine, cheese and crackers as a welcoming gesture. My brother in law celebrated his 70 birthday during our stay. Patricia reserved us the best table at Zarco's and she had even baked a birthday cake and brought it to the restaurant as a surprise. Fernando, had great knowledge of the Island in general, and particular the many levadas. He gave us many great hints for hikes and tours. They also took the trouble to pick us up in their private cars at the endpoint of a levada and drove us back to our car.- impressive service ! Since we were exploring Madeira every day during our stay, I feel we just did not get to spend enough time at the villa and enjoying all its comfort, the games room, the pool etc. I must say thought that we noticed all the small details inside and outside that really makes a difference, and showing that the owners really do care about the house and your well being. If we ever go back to Madeira, I will not consider any other alternative to stay. I will know that by contacting Patricia and/or Fernando ,everything will be in the best of hands and my vacation will be a success,- again!

Storey family holiday - October 2011

My wife and family had a great stay at Villa Sao Paoulo at the end of October 2011. It was my wife's birthday and Patricia very kindly organised a booking at Zarco's Restaurant for us. In addition Patricia provided my wife with a rather lovely chocolate birthday cake. The villa was ideal and the views of Funchal were breathtaking. Patricia was very kind and friendly, she even popped in with some flower's on my wife's birthday. Thank you again Patricia for making us feel welcome and we hope to be back again soon.

Wonderful Villa - Thank you

My Son and I spent an excellent week at this villa and the other reveiws are correct - the pictures do not do this villa justice. The view from this villa is truly stunning. From the momnet we arrived and the greeting we received, the wonderful touch of the mobile to contact the Pataricia and Fernando in case of emergency made our stay a great holiday. The villa has everything you could need and there is almost a tempation not to go out and explore but to stay and enjoy the villa and veiw. Although I did loose at every game of Pool to my son! So what is missing from this villa - easy - nothing - if you book this villa you will not be disappointed. Thank you Patriacia and Fernando.
