We had a fabulous time at this location. It was so peaceful just what we wanted. Ate out 2 nights at 2 different venues in Portaferry, food, service and prices were great. We were blessed with fantastic weather but the calm and serenity this cottage offers would be wonderful irrespective of the weather
If you want to get away from it all, this is where to go!
Beautiful surroundings and excellent accommodation! Only the birds for company! Really enjoyed our stay, it was just what we needed!

This is our fourth stay! Still as lovely as ever. Kitchen extremely well equipped which suits our needs as u like cooking when on holiday. We travelled with an elderly relative who absolutely appreciates the beautiful light and views all around. You cannot help feeling relaxed when at Flora Cottage. Host left us a lovely bottle of wine - a welcome an unexpected treat. Thank you.
We would never get tired of the view from the windows and verandah. The house is lovely and bright and spacious. Ideal for a stay with my parents one of whom now has mobility issues. The wide hallway and big en-suite bedroom had lots of room. Well equipped kitchen and living room. The location is handy for Portaferry but quiet and private as well.
This house is beautifully located on the Irish sea. Perfect to watch wildlife, and the tide movements. The house is so bright and cheerful from the many windows allowing sunlight to stream through! Accomodations were very comfortable.

Amazing quiet location with your own private beach and gorgeous sunrises. The property is warm and cosy in autumn winter with a great heating system and a mesmerising fire place . We so enjoyed our stay and the facilities. We will be back!!

Lots of skylights and windows made this stay bright and cheerful. Being able to stay right on the water made it a very soothing visit. Big kitchen area, washer and drier, two bathrooms all made things easy for all of us. Not far from Belfast.

Thanks for the suggestions June. There's usually a spare tea towel in the drawer. Good idea for a shelf in the shower.
Many thanks.
After spending a week traveling to and from as many places we could squeeze in, Flora Cottage was just what we needed. It is hard to put into words, the experience Flora Cottage offers. First of all the cottage itself is spacious, welcoming and well appointed. Then you step out onto the back deck and your body and mind just relax. The view, the sounds, the cottage all just work together so well - you cannot help but slow down and take it all in. Flora Cottage will be the first place my mind goes when I reminisce about my trip, and it will be the first place I try to book on my next trip!

Beautiful scenery, perfect quiet spot
The property is incredibly quiet and has stunning scenery. Unfortunately we had no communication about checking in, nor any instructions before arriving, but once we were able to access the property we enjoyed our stay. There is a full kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms, however, perhaps as we had little info on the property, we did not realise the kitchen would be bare of basic cooking items such as salt and pepper, or even a dishwasher tablet. If we had known we could have picked these up rather than having to go back out to get them. The property itself was lovely though.

So sorry Jeanette. Usually I send the directions and a packing list when your booking is confirmed - we were away at that time so you slipped through the net - i do apologise for any inconvenience.
i am surprised at the lack of salt and pepper and dishwasher tablets - they are always there as standard with washing up liquid, cloths etc. I will check with my housekeeper - maybe a previous guest packed them by mistake. anyway thank you for letting me know.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay. we look forward to welcoming you back again.

This was a perfect house and location for our particular situation visiting from the U.S. All the family was within a 20 mile radius of the location and it was easy to have family come visit us. My partner Gerry is pretty much wheelchair bound, and the house was perfect for this type of situation. All one level, easy access to two bathrooms, and easy access to exit and entry to the house in the front and back. The house keeper Eileen, was extremely helpful in providing medical equipment (toilet seat, bathroom seat for sink and shower) that we were able to use during the stay. She works at a nursing care facility as well, so she was very familiar with what we needed and offered to loan it to us. It helped us out immensely. There was also a portable wheelchair ramp we were able to use in accessing the front door. Full disclosure, one of the bathrooms has a stand-up shower stall that we could perhaps have tried using if push came to shove, but we actually went to our niece’s house 21/2 miles away to use her handicapped accessible bathroom shower. So my point is that one could make it all work at the house if necessary, Gerry has no use of his left arm and his left leg is useable but very limited. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what we were dealing with in terms of disabilities and use of the facility. In addition to all that, the house is perfect and being on the beach was such a lovely way to spend two weeks !
We really enjoyed our two nights at Flora cottage. Thank youIt was spotlessly clean inside and we really enjoyed the scenery and wildlife. We did clean the big glass doors on arrival. I guess the salt air takes its toll (you are so close to the sea) but worth it for the view. You'll find leftover newspaper along with the window spray under the sink in case you're wondering why its there :)Thank you again for a lovely stay. Ness and Rob

Hi
Glad you enjoyed your stay. With wind and rain it is difficult to keep outside windows and doors clean.
Many thanks Eileen
Wirklich empfehlenswert
The cottage is spacious and with a great outlook onto the sea and with a private beach. There is another larger cottage next door but otherwise it is away from any other buildings. The decor is clean and fresh with a beach feel. It is well equipped with a modern kitchen and facilities and private parking. The deck opens straight onto the stony beach and rocks and gets the morning sun but the light is wonderful all day.
We had a lovely stay here. So peaceful, watching the changes of the light on the bay. The property is well laid out and it was so nice to slide the doors open and appreciate the sea air. It would have been better though if there had been more than 2 outdoor chairs on the patio. There were 3 of us, and the property accommodates 4, so why only 2 chairs? There was a garden bench, but heavy to move and uncomfortable.

Hi Cath
i am so glad that you enjoyed your stay - great weather makes it all the better. i note your comment about the chairs - as you say there are two chairs and a bench that seats two. We will get two deck chairs to make it easier.
we look forward to welcoming you back to Flora
Communication was first class. the location was terrific, the house has amazing views and a good internal space with great light. The furniture is functional and the kitchen has the necessary equipment. There is a TV with Freeview and a radio/CD player. The two showers work well and the beds are comfy. Some of the pillows are duck down/feathers s0 be careful those with allergies. The surroundings are amazing. an enjoyable stay.

many thanks Michael. i am glad you enjoyed your stay.
We were aware that many furnishings and books etc had been removed because of COVID restrictions. This made the surroundings less homely and stark. House instructions folder needed updating re heating and a kitchen bin for recyclables would have been useful.
