This charming 5 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom lakefront cottage has everything you need to enjoy a perfect Northern Michigan hvacation!

From the huge front porch overlooking the lake, to the sandy beach, this beloved home will enchant you from the minute you walk in through the cozy back porch. A living room and a dining room that seats 10 look out over the lake through large plate glass windows. The huge yard is perfect for playing games under the trees.

A short sawdust path leads you to the beach just 100 steps away, passing the artesian well with delicious fresh water on your way.
The sandy beach has picnic tables and beach chairs for everyone, as well as beach toys for the kids. Swimming in the clear waters in front of the beach is not to be missed.

You will never need to leave, yet the wonderful restaurants and shops of downtown Harbor Springs are just 2.5 miles away. Come experience Pure Michigan in this beautiful setting that has been loved by our family for 7 generations.

Family time

Idylwilde is gorgeous in so many ways. My family loved the beach, the large beautiful yard, the adorable house and location. The porch is so lovely, we spent every evening gathering and chatting about our day. We have vacationed in Harbor for many years, red shutters is our favorite!!

Magical Cottage on Lake Michigan

Our family had a 4th of July reunion at the cottage (called Red Shutters). The cottage and setting were quite wonderful, with magical and artistic touches throughout plus the grace of another era - yet a vibe that was very modern. Every day we had a new surprise or experience: a lovely painting we hadn't noticed; a new wildflower in bloom enroute to the beach; the Big Dipper spotted as we sat around a beach campfire This was clearly a beloved place, and it made us feel like we were part of the family. There were many different places to hang out, so people could be together or have their privacy. The property manager Suzanne was extremely helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. We hope to return.

Another lovely week!

This is our second visit to this lovely property. It’s a wonderful location for a family vacation. We enjoyed the spacious rooms and wide inviting front porch. The children had ample room to play on large green lawns surrounding the house. We spent lots of time on the sandy private beach. Suzanne is a considerate and helpful owner.

Worth coming back to

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much that we had to come back. It is a beautiful historic home in a terrific location. Our family looks forward to more happy returns!

Big comfortable home on the water

Our family of 6 adults and 4 children had a wonderful time in this clean, very well equipped cottage on Little Traverse Bay. Big yard, sandy beach, big covered front porch, plenty of rooms, two miles from the charming town of Harbor Springs. All around delightful!!
