About DM Shroyer is Agent for the Owner, J Carder
We live in Portland, Oregon most of the year, but love to escape to Kona during the mainland rainy season! We purchased this property as it spoke to our romantic nature...

Why DM Shroyer is Agent for the Owner, J Carder chose Keauhou
We chose this property for it's tranquil setting, view and climate - which is awesome at this elevation. Though our renovation of the house(s) is well-appointed and modern, the surrounding neighborhood has a laid-back feel, with coffee growers on the hill, even a chocolate 'factory' nearby. And, if you get your fill of peace and relaxation, 'Civilization' is only a few minutes away...
What makes this House unique
The Hideaway offers plenty of privacy, while still close and convenient to all amenities. Some of our guests compare it to staying at their own private spa! The main house (with it's 3 separate 'cabanas' - each with it's own full bed & bath), surround a beautifully attended courtyard. On the surrounding grounds, we encourage our guests to explore the variety of lush foliage, flowers and trees. Also, retrieve fresh, ripe papaya, lime, and other fruits for a delicious tropical breakfast! If you enjoyed the movie, 'Enchanted April', we think you'll love the Hideaway...

Heaven in Hawaii!
Just WOW! Everything was picture perfect. You look at the pictures online and think, this has to be too good to be true...I assure you, it isn’t.
The landscaping is simply magical. Forget visiting a fruit stand, you will have the best papayas, lemons, limes, star fruit, dragon fruit all right at the tips of your fingers.
The big binder has all manner of recommendations which are all spot on. I would add you need to visit Shaka Taco stand. The Hawaiian pork tacos are to die for.
Be sure to be home to catch the breath taking sunsets. The pool area is perfect, and the overall environment is immediately stress reducing. I encourage you to explore the property and find the little hidden Budda, such a delightful find and have meaning to the peacefulness of the property.
The internet is spotty in the evenings and not ideal for streaming Netflix and such, which is PERFECT. We found ourselves in the evenings completing puzzles and having game nights out on the lanai. We purchased a couple of games to add to the owners collection, as we wanted to leave behind some good karma.
The owners were quite communicative and answered all our little pesky questions in a timely fashion and sent us a comprehensive document outlining everything you can do beyond visiting the crowded tourist traps of Kona.
Thank you for your generosity. We will definitely be back!
Shannon,
It was a True Pleasure having you and your group as our guests (our on-Island Staff wholeheartedly agree as well).
We Love it that you fully enjoyed all the beauty, bounty and peace we embrace at this Beautiful Place.
It is so little to say you are most certainly welcome back!
Much Aloha,
The Staff and Owners at Keauhou Hideaway
Breathtaking
My family of five and I were amazed by this property. The view was nothing short of amazing. We enjoyed our time hanging out in the backyard, spending time in the pool, and hot tub. Picking your own fresh fruit from the trees on the property was a very fun and unique experience. The home is recommended for a couple or family that is looking to get away from the hustle of life and relax.
Blown away, will stay again!
Yes yes and yes. Stay here. It's kind of hard to discern from the photos but this place is magical. First of all, the view is phenomenal. Aside from exploring the island, we basically stayed around the pool / hot tub area the entire time especially for sunsets (OUT OF THIS WORLD). The place is clean and extremely tranquil. We did not see one person the entire time until we were on our way out the last day. Staff was amazing. Only thing I'd say is be aware there are a lot of bugs / geckos (it's an open air kind of feel , more zen vs luxurious). There is also no AC but again, it's open air and cool at night. Long story short, this place is really hard but amazing find. I've stayed on the island many times and have also lived here for a few months in 2016 and this by far has been my favorite spot. Thanks again cannot wait to come back!
Little paradise
Everything was even more amazing than the photos! The view was unreal. The infinity pool was beautiful and the view of the ocean and city was amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need. Super comfortable bed, clean towels and bathrooms. We will be booking this spot again as soon as we can!!
Ps: there’s an amazing jacuzzi!!
Paradise
We spent a wonderful week at Keauhou Hideaway. Perfect location. We all enjoyed the back yard the most. Pool and hot tub was utilized every day. Highlight was watching the spectacular sunsets while wading in the pool. The layout of the house was perfect for our family. The mangos weren't quite ready yet, but the neighbor brought some over for us to enjoy. :) Will definitely be back. Thank you Jon!
"Hideaway" Magic
We just stayed here for a week over Spring Break. We are a family of five, with three young-ish teenagers from the Bay Area. Honestly, I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but it feels worth doing in this case. This property is pretty special. It's that perfect combination of "secluded" but "convenient." I wouldn't describe the house itself as "luxury" -- but for those who value views, charm, a beautiful balance with nature, and a layout that facilitates a reconnection with oneself and one's family (feng shui?) over, say, marble kitchen countertops or high-end bathroom fixtures, this is your place. I like feeling like I'm part of a place when I travel, and this was easy to do at Hideaway. One last note: The support staff was incredibly helpful, friendly, and responsive when we had a very minor problem, but otherwise was completely invisible. I wasn't ready to come home, and that's not something I usually say. Thanks again for a great week.
We certainly appreciate you taking the time to give your review - and so eloquently.. The owners and staff send warmest thanks to you. The best gift back from our guests is knowing you connected with the heart and spirit that is embedded in this gorgeous property.
Much Aloha,

This gorgeous property is located just south of Kailua-Kona, 800 feet above the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The Keauhou Shopping Center, (Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa adjacent), is directly below us, with great shopping, restaurants, movie theaters & convenient Post Office. This property and location has something for everyone...unwind on the newly appointed deck beside the infinity pool and jacuzzi, or sit on the lanai and take in the lush vegetation and fruit trees. Serene setting with panoramic Ocean Views, the tropical setting and bird visits are a delight.
Just above our location, neighbor Alaina welcomes you with her Award Winning coffee at the Wailele Coffee Farm (tours available). If you wish, another neighbor will gladly provide farm-fresh eggs (see house info book or inquire with owner/agent).
A visit to nearby Holualua, (up the hill from Kailua-Kona), you will find a delightful artists' community, coffee plantation and shops. The Holuakoa Garden provides a fantastic Brunch (Lunch & Dinner too!).
The close by Kealakakua Bay offers snorkeling (see dolphin, manta ray among others), along with fishing & water sports. At the south end of the Bay, a cultural visit to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park - The Place of Refuge - is beautiful and unique - well worth a visit!
For further excursion, we enjoy a day trip to Hawi at the north end of the Island, visiting Pololu Valley Lookout after eateries and shops along the way. The drive back on Hwy 250 through Parker Ranch (& Museum), and on ahead to Waimea is fantastic. We like to take Hwy 190 back to Kailua-Kona for a different view than the coast road... the Island's diversity is stunning - don't leave the camera behind!
Our crew maintains the grounds and solar pool on a regular basis, and are never intrusive (you most likely will not know they are there!). To ensure you the best experience possible however, we will alter any maintenance scheduled during your stay if need be - just ask.
As Owners of The Hideaway we love our time here away from our mainland home in Oregon (we are never on-site during enjoyment by our guests, however). It is not just a 'rental' to us! We have owned the property for quite a number of years, so we have much more information on local places to eat, visit, etc. in a Notebook for our Guests on-site. We will be happy to provide the complete, owners' "best spots and favorites" ahead of your stay to help plan your Holiday in Paradise...
Much Aloha!...we look forward to having you as our guests!
