The house is a real home from home, very clean, very welcoming and covered every eventuality, even binoculars. It had outstanding views of the wild life, in a very beautiful position, we enjoyed our stay and would like to return.
The property was excellent - everything we could possibly need, very well documented The location was quite remote, but so beautiful and full of wildlife - visible from the house (but not intrusive!) The house was warm and cosy even in a rather cold and rainy spring.

Delighted you enjoyed the holiday
Haste ye back š
We had a great time on Isle of Lewis and the cottage was clean and tidy and perfectly located for our needs. John was in touch throughout to check on us as well.
Secluded family home with everything you need for a getaway. We saw seals and herons from the kitchen window. Our dream of enjoying the Outer Hebrides came true!
Warm cosy and welcoming. In a beautiful location, which is convenient for exploring the whole island of Lewis. We had everything we needed. John and Dolina were very attentive, before we arrived and after we arrived.

Very happy to recommend you to of there hosts. Safe journey home and Haste ye back
Location has some stunning views and variety of wildlife to watch. If you want a nice relaxing, quite break then this is ideal. Great location for local attractions, beaches and not too far from the main town, I would say a car is essential as it would be isolated without transport.

Very best
What a wonderful setting for a short stay in Lewis. Our host and co-host were very attentive and responded quickly to our requests for information. We had a great time visiting ancient sites and little towns and were amazed at the beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings. A perfect escape from the busy lifestyles we tend to lead. Thank you John, Sheila and Dolina from a grateful group of Aussies.

Thank you Mary and family for being such wonderful guests. You were a pleasure to host and were very friendly and helpful.
You left the house clean and tidy and I have no hesitation in recommending you to everyone
Haste ye back.
A warm, comfortable and spacious house, easily big enough for our party of five adults. The hosts were incredibly helpful and welcoming, a lovely plate of home baking was waiting for us when we arrived. The best bit was the location. It was central and convenient for exploring the island, but very peaceful and private. The views from the kitchen were amazing, and we saw otters playing on the shore below and eagles fly past our window. Thank you John and Dolina!

The property was very comfortable and spacious. Everything necessary was available. We couldn't have asked for more and didn't expect what we found at at a very honest price. We cannot fault John for his cooperation and his management of the property. The information available was comprehensive and up to date. The position of the house is excellent if you have a car and want to visit all of the island. The maximum drive time was about 1 hour and fifteen minutes.
We can only HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property for a vacation in the Hebrides.
We hope to visit again and we would very happily stay at 5 Crulivig.

Haste ye back
Warm house. Cosy beds. Fully working kitchen. Internet. Shower. Bathroom. 100% beautiful
In contact with the owner throughout via messenger if required
Throughout this holiday experience John has fielded a million questions form me and also been unbelievable helpful and flexible as situations arose (potential issues with ferry being cancelled) the actual property was a shock as itās significantly bigger than the pictures portrayed. The local assistance was also not expected and brilliant. The location was ideal with views to die for and easy little jaunt to go fishing. I donāt want to say much more as donāt want place to be fully booked for when we come back next year ļ

About the host
Hosted by John Macdonald
I am a retired church minister who is now living in Inverness with my wife Sheila and our dog Molly (see photo!!) The house has been our family home over 5 generations and as the family have moved away is now available for holiday rent. Sheila and I still live in the house for a week each month and want others to share the spectacular beauty and the amazing peace of our home and our beautiful island.
Why they chose this property
5 Crulivig is a traditional croft cottage recently renovated and surrounded by a croft of over 20 acres to which guests have full and free access for walking or wildlife viewing. The house itself is homely and very comfortable with great facilities. (see pictures) The setting is absolutely beautiful - set on a sea loch with access to the sea shore. It is completely private with its own drive and the nearest neighbour is 200 metres away. Come and enjoy a wonderful holiday in the most wonderful and peaceful place.
