Enjoy a relaxing and cozy mountain getaway at the Dancing Goat Cabin in the historic district of Valle Crucis. Dancing Goat Cabin welcomes you with its wide open mountain views, rustic charm & aroma of cedar beam log cabin. You will be awed by 180 degrees’ views when you step out of your vehicle and the views continue throughout the cabin! Expansive outdoor private open space for kids to explore & adults to enjoy cabin grounds. Excellent location in heart of the valley, 2 mins from Mast General Store, park with river access & 20 mins to Blowing Rock and Blue Ridge Parkway. Cabin is easy to drive up, no steep curvy driveways to maneuver. Flat and wide parking area with space for 2 or 3 vehicles. Access to the cabin is through a covered porch with entry ramp. If you have any special concerns for guests with mobility needs, please message me to make sure our cabin is right for you. Cabin sleeps up to 4 adults and 2 kids comfortably.

The best features of our cabin are its location and mountain and valley views!

This is a spacious one level log cabin with three bedrooms, two baths and great indoor and outdoor space. The highlight of our cabin is the gorgeous all season views from the great room and both bedrooms!
Dancing Goat log cabin is a perfect spot for a family vacation or even two families as the master with ensuite bathroom is on one side of the living area and the other two bedrooms are situated on the other side with a separate bathroom. Bathrooms have Jacuzzi brand deep soaking tubs to relax at the end of the day. Great for girlfriend getaways too!
The beds are comfortable with hypoallergenic mattresses covers. All bed linens and bath towels are high quality cotton. We have beautiful cotton quilts for warmer months and comforters with cotton duvet covers from Pottery Barn for cooler months. One of our favorite features is the spacious kitchen where you will find everything you need for preparing a family meal. There is a Jenn-Air gas grill on the deck with piped gas. No hassle of changing cylinders midway through grilling.
The cabin sits on an acre of flat land with trees. It provides complete privacy yet easy access and close to all the attractions. It is less than a mile from the Mast General Store, Dutch creek ice cream and next to the Jerky outpost. There are several outdoor areas to enjoy - a pergola and patio with a swing set with mountain views and a fire pit for those starry night gatherings. The cabin has a rural country charm along with modern amenities like dual band wi-fi through high speed fiber connection, Samsung 4K ultra HD smart TV with Roku, YouTube TV and Amazon movies and charging station for all your devices.
There are horses grazing in the pasture across the street. There is a small farm to the side of the cabin where we watched the playful goats and sheep that inspired us to name the cabin. (Goats are gone now!). The cabin setting evokes feeling of nostalgia and escape to a classic American getaway. Relax and soak up the Appalachian countryside views and make memories that will last a lifetime! We hope you will enjoy our mountain cabin as much as we do!

Nice clean place but so many rules!

Cabin is as stated . We did notice that through out each rooms there are notes of the does and do nots Then on check out we learned we were responsible for picking up all the dirty towels, washing and putting the dishes and the topper, taking all our trash with us (there is no trash service) . They did advised us that since the dump was closed there were trash drop off stations!! We were wondering why we paid a cleaning fee. What do those folds do :) . Be prepared or maybe owners should reconsider some of the above.

This is the first time we received a low rating from a guest. It is for something that is already mentioned in the house rules section of our listing. Interestingly, this guest actually did not follow the house rules that she has complained about. She left lot of trash in the bathrooms, left dirty dishes in the dishwasher and several more. We appreciate guests who mention both good and less good aspects of their stay since it helps others make a balanced decision. Sadly, she only ranted about things that are mentioned in our listing and cabin rules agreement that she read and signed prior to her stay. We take good care of our cabin, love to share it with guests and we work hard to make their stay comfortable and relaxing. As I write this for our future guests, we are transparent and always have it in our listing about trash disposal and we provide location/time information. Our cabin is located on a ridge with beautiful views and tranquility but it also attracts bears other wildlife regularly so we cannot leave trash outside. It is in a historic and rural part of the county that has limited town services and no trash pickup. We take away our own trash to the center and ask our guests to plan accordingly. Most housecleaners have small cars filled with cleaning equipment, linens etc and drive from house to house and not able to take trash with them. This is usually not an issue because our guests are aware of it since they have read and accepted the house rules before sending a booking request. Our check out instructions are there to help guide them to leave the cabin as they found it. Many rural mountain homes in the area have the same and we have stayed in some of them before. We understand that if guests are unable to do something before check out, they can let us know.

Beautiful cabin

We enjoyed our stay at the Dancing Goat cabin! The Valle Crucis area is wonderful. There are many activities within short driving distance (hiking, shopping, gem mining, Grandfather Mountain, waterfalls, etc). We loved how quiet and peaceful this community is while still being only 10-15 minutes to Boone for groceries and other services. Our kids loved the foosball table and we loved drinking our morning coffee with a beautiful view of the fog lifting off the mountains. The only downside of this cabin for us was having to bring our own trash away. We left on a Sunday, so none of the trash/recycling centers were open. We ended up having to ride all the way home (6 hours) with trash in the back of our vehicle. While city pickup is of course not available, it might be worthwhile to look into a private trash service- we would have gladly paid a little extra a night for this. Other than that, a perfect mountain vacation! We made some great family memories in this cabin.

Thank you for the reviewing your stay. Happy to know you enjoyed the cabin. Sorry to hear about your inconvenience with trash disposal. Our closest trash center is open every other day until 7PM, I wish it was open every day. Since it is open until 7PM on Saturday, we usually throw most of our trash out on Saturday evening. That way, we have very little trash accumulated overnight before Sunday AM check out. There is a another location close to town that is open all days. All location/time posted in our cabin. We mention it in our listing and ask our guests to plan accordingly. Commercial trash collection companies are not allowed to use our county trash disposal centers.

Great Cabin in the woods with an excellent view

We very much enjoyed our stay at your wonderful cabin. The only downside was requiring the guests to take their trash with them. All of the dumpster locations were closed on Sunday when we checked out.

We had a pleasant and relaxing Easter weekend here. The cottage is located close to many trailheads, skiing, snowtubing and other activities, but away from the bustle and traffic. Many up to date amenities, very fast internet is a plus. Beds were comfy, decorations pleasant, adding to a home away from home feel. Instructions and communication were excellent. Thank you !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dancing Goat cabin! It was very relaxing. The inside is beautiful. It has a great front porch to sit outside and watch the stars at night and wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. Even if it's too cold to sit outside, you can watch the beautiful long range views outside through the large windows. The location is a great central location for visiting the area...it's really close to the Mast General Store! Mona, the owner was very kind to check in to see how things were going. We would like to visit again in the future.

Cozy cabin in a delightful location!

This was such an awesome find! Mona was super responsive and detail oriented. The cabin was charming and cozy and in the most perfect location. The cabin was well equipped and extremely clean. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to the area. It can be difficult to know which rental is legit and this is definitely one.

3 night January stay

My family of 4 stayed at the cabin for 3 nights in January. We chose this home over others for its ease of convenience, cozy cabin charm, and amenities. The beds were very comfy. We really appreciated the Roku/TV set up as we could log in to our own accounts The keypad entry makes coming and going a breeze. Since we were only there 3 nights there wasn’t a problem dropping off garbage on our way out of town. The descriptions by the owner are accurate and she provides additional local tips for your stay that are helpful.

Beautiful cabin in a great location

This was our first visit to Boone area. We stayed at Mona's cabin during New Year's and were pleasantly surprised by a bottle of champagne left for us by Mona to help us celebrate. The cabin is very clean and has everything you might need. Located in a beautiful area close to many must visit places. Mona is a great host and responds to any enquiries in a timely manner. She provided us with a lot of info on places to see and things to do. We will definitely be back.

Check is was very simple. Mona responded very promptly and was a nice host. The cabin layout was very nice and furnished with everything you need. Bedding was very comfortable and clean. There was a smell present, not sure what it was and had to buy some air fresheners, but everything else was great. Very good location, close to Valle Crucis and Boone. I would stay there again.
