The cottage is in the most excellent location to everything that we had on our hearts to do, without the busyness and traffic of Windermere. It was perfectly clean and comfortable, with a delightful garden for nice weather too. Equipment is minimal but we had everything needed. The surprise was Chester's, the perfect breakfast cafe just a few steps away which became a daily go-to. The parking is tricky at first but we soon mastered it. If you open the windows you hear the river rushing by just downstream of the force. Easy/moderate walks from the cottage are to Elterwater and Little Langdale (lunch at Three Shires Inn), or to Ambleside over the lower ridge of Loughrigg Fell, or going on, to Rydal and Grasmere. All without driving (or parking :) !) Keswick and Glenridding (Ullswater steamer pier) are about 40 mins drive each, and Coniston is only 12 mins. Dove Cottage and the village of Grasmere, and Hill Top are delights you won't want to miss.
Had a lovely relaxing stay, cottage was comfortable & cosy, plenty of walks from the door, or a short drive away. Only complaint was the parking was a bit tight due to other vehicles from the adjoining holiday properties not leaving alot of room for us to reverse into our parking space.
