Arc1950 5-Star Village Resort, Large Apartment, Ski-in/out. Very close to lifts.
Our lovely warm apartment is located on the fourth floor of the Manoir Savoie residence, completed in the last phase of the construction of Arc1950 in 2007. Thus, it is one of the newest apartments, as well as being significantly larger than most other apartments in the development at nearly 67 m2. Access is either one floor up from reception, which is on the village level, or by one of two service lifts, close by, which are directly connected to the underground car park for easy unloading of baggage etc.
Redecorated this year, it displays pictures of the local area, together with a tasteful selection of contemporary “Banksy” prints and is electrically heated throughout.
It faces away from the resort in a double-aspect SE/SW direction and enjoys the sun in the morning, is very quiet at all times and does not suffer from noise coming from the village centre – a very important bonus for those who desire peace and quiet! The larger of the two balconies (14 m2) enjoys a position directly under the roof of Manoir Savoie, with views down to Bourg-St-Maurice, then up towards Mont Blanc. It has a very spacious feel, with the eaves reaching some four metres above the deck. It is possible to sunbathe here until about 5pm, depending upon the time of year, whilst the smaller balcony (4 m2), off the second bedroom is a wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee.
We have full-height ceilings in all of our rooms.
You will feel spoiled here as you relax in our large living room (28 m2) with views towards the Aguille Rouge whose ski run is the longest red in France. Take the opportunity to watch our brand new 65” 4K HD television, mounted to one of the walls. We have two large comfortable settees (one of which converts into a double sofa-bed) plus two armchairs, several occasional tables and a footstool. There is ample room for six people to stretch out and relax after a hard day’s skiing.
Our large wooden dining table seats six individuals in comfortable high back chairs, thus ensuring a pleasant dining experience. There is a large cupboard which contains household essentials such as a clothes airer, ironing board and vacuum cleaner - also a rail for hanging outside coats etc.
For those who wish to self-cater, we have a well-equipped “American Kitchen” which sports an induction hob, oven/grill, separate microwave oven, a refrigerator and a dishwasher. For the coffee lover there is a choice of “Nespresso” or filter coffee machines, plus an electric kettle, toaster, utensils and cookware. There is a plentiful supply of glasses, crockery, knives & forks etc.
The light and airy master bedroom which is reached via a lobby, has a very comfortable double bed with a pair of reading lamps. Large windows face both SE and SW. There are two wardrobes with plenty of hanging and storage space, one containing a safe. Off the lobby there are separate WC and bath-rooms (bath with shower overhead). There is a wall mounted hairdryer with shaver socket by the sink and an electric towel drier, plus a retractable clothes line over the bath.
The second bedroom, no less luxuriously appointed contains twin beds (with reading lamps), which can be pushed together if required. A further three wardrobes with a second safe. An external door to the smaller balcony frames a Southerly view up towards Arc 2000. A flat screen television is mounted on the wall above a convenient writing desk. There is another fully equipped bathroom with full en-suite facilities and WC as per the master bedroom. This bedroom has its own access door into the hotel corridor outside and can, in fact be “locked off” from the main apartment to create totally separate en-suite accommodation.
We have two secure ski lockers in the boot room (which is heated) lower in our building. This allows a true ski-in ski-out experience. The village is pedestrianised with no cars or other vehicles allowed (apart from piste bashers, of course!)
Manoir Savoie caters for all guests’ health and leisure requirements. We have a heated outdoor swimming pool, an indoor Jacuzzi, a sauna and steam room and an exercise room with machines and free weights. There is also a shower room.
For the busy executive, we have a fully-equipped office suite with internet connectivity.
For those persons requiring extra pampering, there is a health spa (chargeable) in the “Sources de Marie” residence nearby.
Reception is manned 24/7 and there is the “1950 Brasserie” adjacent which serves wonderful breakfasts if you wish to treat yourselves. In fact, they also cater for evening meals, as do the other six restaurants in the village, some of which do lunch as well – so you'll be spoiled for choice!
Please note that I usually only accept Saturday-Saturday bookings as Arc1950 works on that basis.

The location was excellent, and Paul was nice to work with. The apartment was clean and beds were comfortable. It had everything we needed. Could use a few more items for glassware. The main property was tired and certainly needed much better maintenance. The small ski locker was not usable as it was so wet from condensation it totally soaked my ski boots overnight. The ski room smells of mold badly and is very wet and damp. But aside from that, the location made up for it all and the apartment was nice.
Great communication with Paul, the host. The appartment is spacious, the beds comfortable, with a great shower and bath. Nice views from the living room area too and the block is in a great, central location. Comfortable robes and slippers provided for visiting the pool/ sauna area. What could be improved is to fix the various small niggles: broken hair dryer in the smaller room, no fitted sheets, temperamental dishwasher, broken light in the fridge. Didn't impact our stay, we had a great time.
We had a fantastic week in Les Arcs. Paul’s apartment was in a great location, ski in ski out which made life really easy skiing with a toddler. The apartment was clean and had everything you need for a self catered apartment. All the instructions to get to and in to the apartment were clear so there was no hassle. Would recommend to all.

Thank you for renting with me. You are most welcome to return at any time!
I stayed in this lovely apartment with my three sons over the half term break. The apartment is great, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and is, as indicated, properly ski-in / ski-out. It is a 20 seconds ski down to the ski lifts from the boot room. The owner Paul is friendly and communicative, and was very helpful in sorting out a problem with the safe when it was inadvertently locked without a code being entered.Overall, I’d strongly recommend the apartment, but I would avoid Les Arcs in the half term week in February because for us it was just too busy. This is a common problem for most of the ski resorts in the area as I understand it, but the traffic on the roads and on the pistes at the ski lifts was problematic. Other than that issue Arc 1950 is fantastic with several good restaurants in the village, and easy access to the larger Arc 2000. We would definitely go again.

A disappointing stay in one of our favourite ski resorts
Having travelled from the UK at 5am with two young children, we were disappointed to find the apartment had not been prepared for our stay. We were not granted access until an hour after advertised check-in time. The mains power was switched off, the apartment freezing on arrival and hadn't been cleaned. The bathrooms were full of the previous occupants body hair, gunk and poo splashed loos. The kitchen was grubby, no floors had been cleaned or hoovered and the welcome basket consisted of 3 coffee pods, 3 sachets of sugar and half used salt and pepper pots - hardly a warm welcome. The reception staff were less than helpful when trying to rectify the situation and referred me to the property owner who proceed to share with me how difficult it was for him to manage a property in France and suggested I clean the apartment. We spent our first night in an uncleaned apartment. He arranged for the cleaner to come the following day. The kitchen remained uncleaned.I suggested a refund for the first nights stay but was offered 150 and sent a 'without prejudice' email from the owner who has then not responded to my request to find a resolution. The VRBO complaints process holds no authority, the full funds were sent to the owner. We have not received any refund.First negative review I have listed for any holiday rental. The location is great, we love Les Arc but the owner of this property could improve his bedside manner, value his customers and compensate fairly for his mistake.

I have never had such a disorganised renter before. She booked less than three weeks before stay, then tried to cancel booking four days later because her husband had injured his leg. Then she couldn’t make up her mind whether to claim on her travel insurance or bring a friend plus two extra children instead, thereby needing provision of an extra bed. She failed to let me know what was happening, for eight days, until I chased her. It was nearly midnight on Christmas Eve before she replied (I received her message the next afternoon, on Christmas Day and her rental was due to commence three days later – giving me very little time to organise the apartment for her stay). Upon arrival she complained about the TV not being plugged in and the electricity being turned off (this is a normal safety procedure when the apartment is unattended). She then complained about the apartment being ‘unclean’ - which I disputed, but arranged to have it cleaned again the very next day at considerable expense. I then received various messages demanding a refund, implying that if not, she would post a bad review. I offered to cover the cost of her car parking charge which was rejected. I have never had a complaint, nor ever experienced such a situation before – all of my received reviews have been perfect. I went out of my way to be helpful both before the rental commenced, then at all times whilst she was staying.
Thank you for staying in my apartment. You are most welcome to return next year!
