About this property
Hythe - centrally located ground floor apartment with a musical theme
Please read this listing thoroughly and check the photos to make sure this property is OK for you. We will assume that you understand all of the available amenities before you book—we don't want you to be surprised or inconvenienced by something that you didn't realise wasn't supplied.
The Property
This is a self contained ground floor flat set in a Grade 2 listed historic house in Hythe. Although it is on the ground floor, the flat has several, single-step, internal changes in level, which means it is not suited to wheelchair users. Externally there is level access and a small courtyard to the rear. There are two parking spaces associated with this property. This is a smoke-free property - smoking is not allowed in the flat
The Location
It is located in a quiet cul-de-sac 10 minutes from Junction 11 of the M20, an 8-minute drive to Eurotunnel & 20 minutes to Dover Port. The flat is a short walk to the town centre, which has local shops, pubs and restaurants and a 10-minute walk to the beach.
The Space
The property has a modern, well-equipped kitchen with an electric hob, air-fryer and oven, washing machine and dishwasher. The bathroom has a shower but no bath.
The master bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has a single bed, and there is a big double sofa bed in the large living room. Fully configured, the flat can sleep five—this is our maximum guest number regardless of age. Please do not ask if you can book for more. This is because the flat simply cannot accommodate any more. If there are five adults, then the accommodation may feel a bit cramped.
Families and couples preferred but there are no childproofing or extra safety features for smaller children.
Amenities: DAB Radio, Freesat TV (living room & bedroom), WiFi, hairdryer, Iron/ironing board, bedding, towels.
Our Expectations
We expect our guests to respect our property and help us keep it in the good order that we maintain it. Please do not smoke on the property. It is in a quiet residential area, so neighbourliness, especially regarding noise, is essential. (No parties - sorry!)

We live next door and are regularly available. If we are away, we are on the phone, and there is always someone close by who can resolve a problem.
Our Town
The historic town of Hythe has plenty to offer. One of the original Cinque Ports, it has a longstanding association with the military and was for many years the home of the army's School of Musketry. Although that has now gone (and been replaced by a large supermarket), the ranges are still in regular use. The house in which the flat is situated was built in 1820 to accommodate officers.
The town centre is a short flat walk away, where you can enjoy shopping in the unique, independent shops that line the high street. There is a wide range of pubs, coffee shops, and restaurants for all tastes and pockets—all within walking distance of the flat.
Overlooking the town is the ancient St Leonard's Church, which dates back to the 10th Century and is unique in having a skull-packed ossuary in the crypt. (With some notice, we can often arrange access.)
Central to the town (and less than a minute from the property) is the Napoleonic-era Royal Military Canal, with cycle and walking routes. Built as a defence, it is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument. During the summer season, you can hire a rowing boat or enjoy a leisurely trip on an electric cruiser.
Just a five-minute walk is the Hythe Terminus of the world-famous Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway; built in 1927 and known as “Kent’s Mainline in Miniature”, it runs a regular year-round service along the 13½ miles of track from Hythe, terminating in Dungeness; a National Nature Reserve. Trains are usually hauled by steam-powered engines.
The beach is a flat 10-minute walk from the property, with stunning views of the English Channel to enjoy while strolling the Victorian promenade.
Available outdoor activities include sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kite surfing, swimming and golf. The town boasts a beautiful long beachfront perfect for a seaside walk, picnic or flying kites.
The popular Port Lympne Animal Reserve is a short drive away with its stunning scenery and endangered animals.
