While in a very quiet lane with very few neighbours, the house is located within walking distance from the village of Gordes, equipped with a few shops, bars and restaurants, and a weekly market. Two bedrooms are set up with terraces overlooking the village and the Luberon, allowing quiet times to read or watch the stars. As we love cooking, the newly refurbished kitchen is fully equipped to cater for large gatherings and the outdoor terrace contains a plancha (wood fire are totally forbidden most of the year, because of the risks of fires) and a long wooden table to fit many guests. Thanks to the house position on a hill, temperatures are always cooler than down in the valley, which is definitely an asset in the summer. Also the thick traditional white walls, while reflecting the light, keep the heat at bay together with the old-fashioned terracotta floor. The house is nicely but simply furnished, with a mix of traditional and modern furniture; while keeping it easy to live in, we have added many personal touches and rejected the “for rent” look as the property is set up mainly for our own use.
