About this property
Gorgeous in Gordes, Elegantly Furnished with Pool, Tennis and Views
Located just on the outskirts of Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages of France, Les Murets is an enchanting property that sits on seven acres of lavender, thyme and rosemary fields with sweeping views of the Luberon Mountains, a swimming pool, tennis court and pool house. Just fifteen miles east of Avignon, and forty miles from the Mediterranean, it is conveniently located within an hour's drive of the Marseille airport and the TGV train station in Avignon. The interior of the house has been completely gutted and decorated in soothing, comfortable and casually elegant neutral tones. The kitchen has a large island that is always command central, with a wonderful gathering place for people who want to socialize or help with dinner preparations. The terrace, with its large wrought iron table is the perfect place to enjoy long, leisurely dinners, overlooking the beautiful mountains in the distance and the valley below.
Arriving at Les Murets
When you arrive at Les Murets, you will be greeted first by our wonderful caretaker who lives down the street, and second, by the incredible smell of lavender that permeates the house's thick stone walls and causes just about everyone to say, 'Ahhh ....' as they walk through the door. It's a welcome feeling, especially after a long trip. Our caretakers, who love the property as their own and have been watching over it for the last twenty years, will show you around the house and property and go over how things work. If you are a little too jet lagged to take it all in, there is a detailed manual in English that you can pore over at your leisure, as you sit down and sip the wine that has been awaiting your arrival. If you would like a sneak preview of all the things to do at Les Murets, you may enjoy reading through our top 100 activities, which we will send you ahead of time, along with a suggested two-week itinerary that we have carefully curated and edited over the years.
Enjoying the Property
We jokingly say that Les Murets is like a mini resort. We're fortunate to have a beautiful large pool with ample space for swimming and sunbathing. There is also a private tennis court with a quick dry surface. And, for those wanting the full Peter Mayle experience, we offer a 'boules court' - but you must buy your own pastis (unless you request it from us ahead of time, in which case we are happy to accommodate). In addition to our favorite 100 activities, we probably enjoy most just sitting outside on the terrace, overlooking the Luberon Valley and the mountains in the distance, eating a delicious meal of fresh ingredients washed down with plenty of local wine from one of our favorite vineyards, in the company of friends and family. We spend much of our time on the terrace, from the time that it is bathed in sunshine in the morning, to the late evening when long shadows cover the lavender field and the Luberon mountain turns purple in the sunset.
Getting the Most out of your Stay
You could be perfectly happy staying home the whole time, but for those who want to be a little more active, we have put together a two week itinerary with suggestions for every single day, from morning to evening, based on market days, restaurant closings and other scheduling details. You really don't need to think about anything -- just get in the car and go. This way, you will enjoy the planning and the reliving stages almost as much as the actual trip. We also can make arrangements for catering meals, delivery upon your arrival, a private chef, babysitting, chauffeur, and many other services – all provided at an additional cost. Just let us know with at least one month's notice and we will make the arrangements for you.

About the host
Hosted by Ann Huff - Owner

We have owned Les Murets since 2001, after a glorious 'sabbatical' year in Provence, when we fell in love with the area and decided to plant roots there. Everything about this experience has been wonderful, from discovering secrets about the property, to meeting and befriending our most marvelous caretakers, to hosting lots of friends and guests at this property, to writing about it extensively.
Ann owns Huff Harrington Fine Art and Huff Harrington Home in Atlanta, two businesses built upon our love of France and our appreciation for an artful lifestyle. You can follow us on instagram @huffharrington or by reading our blog, The Artful Lifestyle. Ann's background in and passion for interior design has driven the renovations of Les Murets over the past few years, culminating in a full re-fluff in 2019 and continued in 2020. Bill's love of travel and passion for the Tour de France, cheese, chocolate and wine have made him the willing collaborator and happy sous-chef in all our activities.
Our favorite thing is to relax on the terrace in the evening with friends and family, overlooking the Luberon, enjoying a wonderful feast of fresh food from the market and a few delicious glasses of our favorite wine, listening to birds, smelling the lavender and enjoying every minute at Les Murets. We hope you will too.

Why they chose this property
We had rented a charming house in the valley several years before buying ours and decided that it was the place we wanted to be. Luckily, we were able to justify this purchase because I own an art gallery and home furnishings store and represent several French artists and always jump at the opportunity to 'fill a container' with French antiques. Planting roots in the Luberon was almost like an extension of my business, and gave us all several reasons to return frequently. We fell in love with the area and when we came across this amazing property, we took a leap of faith ... and have been thrilled with it ever since.
What makes this property unique
There are so many things to do in the valley that we started a list of 25 favorite things to do. But as I was writing it, I realized that actually there were closer to 50 things. And then I read them to my family and they suggested another 25, and before I knew it, we had come up with 100 things to do in the area. The other evening, my daughter went through the list and checked off all the things she's tried. I loved listening to her comments like, 'Oooh, I remember when we did that!' and 'Oh that is my favorite thing to do!' There were several, 'Nope, haven't tried that' comments, and when I looked over her shoulder I was happy to see that they usually involved wine tastings! We have published our 100 things to do on our website, and we also offer our guests a full itinerary that goes day by day, taking in to account when stores, markets and restaurants are open so that you don't have to do the planning. We send you this itinerary when we receive your last payment for your stay.
