About this property
Gorgeous in Gordes, Elegantly Furnished with Pool, Tennis and Views
Located just on the outskirts of Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages of France, Les Murets is an enchanting property that sits on seven acres of lavender, thyme and rosemary fields with sweeping views of the Luberon Mountains, a swimming pool, tennis court and pool house. Just fifteen miles east of Avignon, and forty miles from the Mediterranean, it is conveniently located within an hour's drive of the Marseille airport and the TGV train station in Avignon. The interior of the house has been completely gutted and decorated in soothing, comfortable and casually elegant neutral tones. The kitchen has a large island that is always command central, with a wonderful gathering place for people who want to socialize or help with dinner preparations. The terrace, with its large wrought iron table is the perfect place to enjoy long, leisurely dinners, overlooking the beautiful mountains in the distance and the valley below.
Arriving at Les Murets
When you arrive at Les Murets, you will be greeted first by our wonderful caretaker who lives down the street, and second, by the incredible smell of lavender that permeates the house's thick stone walls and causes just about everyone to say, 'Ahhh ....' as they walk through the door. It's a welcome feeling, especially after a long trip. Our caretakers, who love the property as their own and have been watching over it for the last twenty years, will show you around the house and property and go over how things work. If you are a little too jet lagged to take it all in, there is a detailed manual in English that you can pore over at your leisure, as you sit down and sip the wine that has been awaiting your arrival. If you would like a sneak preview of all the things to do at Les Murets, you may enjoy reading through our top 100 activities, which we will send you ahead of time, along with a suggested two-week itinerary that we have carefully curated and edited over the years.
Enjoying the Property
We jokingly say that Les Murets is like a mini resort. We're fortunate to have a beautiful large pool with ample space for swimming and sunbathing. There is also a private tennis court with a quick dry surface. And, for those wanting the full Peter Mayle experience, we offer a 'boules court' - but you must buy your own pastis (unless you request it from us ahead of time, in which case we are happy to accommodate). In addition to our favorite 100 activities, we probably enjoy most just sitting outside on the terrace, overlooking the Luberon Valley and the mountains in the distance, eating a delicious meal of fresh ingredients washed down with plenty of local wine from one of our favorite vineyards, in the company of friends and family. We spend much of our time on the terrace, from the time that it is bathed in sunshine in the morning, to the late evening when long shadows cover the lavender field and the Luberon mountain turns purple in the sunset.
Getting the Most out of your Stay
You could be perfectly happy staying home the whole time, but for those who want to be a little more active, we have put together a two week itinerary with suggestions for every single day, from morning to evening, based on market days, restaurant closings and other scheduling details. You really don't need to think about anything -- just get in the car and go. This way, you will enjoy the planning and the reliving stages almost as much as the actual trip. We also can make arrangements for catering meals, delivery upon your arrival, a private chef, babysitting, chauffeur, and many other services – all provided at an additional cost. Just let us know with at least one month's notice and we will make the arrangements for you.

The house was beautiful, extremely comfortable and organized, and had everything we could possibly need. The pool and tennis courts are beautiful however we were there a little early in the season and the pool had not been opened yet but if it had been, we would’ve used it. It’s in a beautiful spot the yard and grounds are spectacular. Also the host had many suggestions which we followed And feel those suggestions really made our trip. I would recommend this home to anyone. And I definitely would recommend Christoph as a driver and guide.
Les Murets is a beautiful and elegant country home in a great setting. It proved to be an ideal spot for 7 of us from various parts of the US to gather, have fun, and explore a gorgeous part of Provence.
Spectacular home and property and well situated in Provence. Very tidy and well-appointed. Friendly, knowledgeable owners and property management team. We couldn't have asked for more -- everyone loved our time here!

Wow! What a beautiful home and property. Perfect place to enjoy the French countryside.Large kitchen to cook up market finds and a lovely patio to sit on with great views. Bedrooms with plenty of space and privacy.Would love to stay again!
Our family of 12 (including 3 children) great stay at this beautiful home. Excellent location within a 20 minute drive to many villages and attractions. Short walk to small town with an excellent bakery. Enjoyed exploring in the mornings and spending afternoons by the large pool and playing tennis. Host was very helpful and responsive. Catered dinners were excellent and offered great value. I would not hesitate to recommend.

A week at Les Murets is my idea of paradise. The house is lovely and comfortable — the owners have anticipated anything one might need. And the property itself is spectacular. We spent evenings on the terrace enjoying the beautiful view of the Luberon. This was the second time our group had stayed at the property and it did not disappoint. Hope to return soon
We enjoyed lovely weather but the temperatures were cool for swimming. The pool area is very nice and there is a tennis court too! In the summer, it would be a treat! We were provided with a list of great resources - a fantastic driver who was amazingly helpful. A charming French lady cooked meals. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay for two weeks! It is a wonderful property - it is simply lovely and conveniently located to so many charming towns where we enjoyed delicious, gourmet lunches.I can’t recommend Les Murets enough. I promise you will love your time there.

We had a lovely stay at Les Murets. The house sits on a large amount of acreage so it is very quiet and pleasantly remote. The homeowner is so nice and provided a lot of information in advance of our trip so we had time to digest it all and plan accordingly using her itinerary as a guide. The house manager was very nice and helped us to make reservations at some nearby restaurants. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We had a fantastic stay with our extended family, ages 9 - 82. Ann does a great job of communicating and giving suggestions for activities. Easy communication and prompt assistance from the house manager Melanie as well. Highly recommend this house: beautiful, relaxing, and well-appointed.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time at Les Murets! It is a beautiful property and the location is perfect to enjoy day trips to the surrounding villages. Ann is a delight to work with. The itinerary she shared was so helpful in planning our trip. It is even more beautiful than the pictures show. Highly recommend!
We were a group of four couples who spent a lovely week at this home. The home is in a beautiful setting, quiet but close to everything. Thank you Ann for the wonderful itinerary suggestions which we we used throughout the week. The house is very well appointed, spacious and as advertised on the website. We also had two wonderful meals catered by Chantal as recommended by Ann. Would highly recommend this property.
Quintessentially Provence! Beautiful house and grounds. Really enjoyed the quiet, the views, the garden, the pool and the incredible weather. Will definitely come back. Would recommend having a car for grocery runs and exploring the incredible little villages around the house.
Wonderful visit ! Many thanks for making it so special.
We stayed at Ann's house to reminisce about our time that we lived in Provence over twenty years ago. We loved her house and her guidelines for touring the area. We did a different day trip every day, seeing old friends and combining markets with shopping and eating. Our adult children are already talking about going back again. Ann's house and hospitality are five star all the way!

Thank you for your nice review. We're so happy you enjoyed it and hope we can welcome you back again!
Though we've rented homes in Provence before, this was our first time at Ann's lovely home. The house is gorgeous and comfortable for lots of people. The modern kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed to make our stay easy. Ann and her caretakers are super-responsive. The location can't be beat. So many iconic Provencal towns are within 20 minutes, and there's a lovely village within easy walking for morning croissants. Good (though mildly strenuous) hiking right from the house. We really couldn't have asked for more. We'll definitely stay with Ann again when we return to Provence!
This was my second trip to Les Murets, the first one three years ago, so was really looking forward to coming back and sharing with my family and friends. The home is beautifully appointed, and property and grounds are very well maintained. After a day at the markets, museums, vineyards, etc a quick dip in the pool was the BEST. The provides SO. MUCH HELPFUL information not just about their home, but a great sample itinerary to take advantage of the local attractions of which there are many. We had some really good cooks and the kitchen is very well appointed and a fun place to hang. Really was a treat, and would definitely return.

Wonderful, tasteful and comfortable house.
We loved Les Murets. For our family group of nine adults, it was perfect. We liked the feeling of a real home, we immediately felt comfortable. Having our first meal catered and organised by Ann was a treat. Nicolas and family looked after us during our stay, it was good to have them on hand.
We loved the sense of space both inside and out. Plenty of seating areas outside meant one could find privacy easily or join in around the pool. We had very hot weather, ate outside every day, either near the pool or on the terrace.
We couldn't fault Ann's service and responsiveness or anything about the house. We hope to return.

The house and grounds were everything you see in the photos and more… the house was beautifully decorated, well appointed with everything you could need and plenty of space for 9 people. The grounds thoughtfully designed and very well maintained, in a secluded location but still with easy access to villages and towns.
Hiking and cycling paths are located just off the road to the house giving you lots of places to explore. It truly could not have been better!
Communications with the owner and grounds keeper was easy and efficient and they helped us arrange a lovely dinner for us the first night prepared by Chantal. We had a group with a few food allergies and she worked magic to come up
with multiple, delicious dishes that everyone could enjoy.
All in all, a fantastic stay and I would come back in a heartbeat!

For many years we have traveled Europe extensively, mostly renting homes or apartments. It was the internet presentation of Les Murets, that made us choose this particular corner of Provence for our trip with a group of old friends. The moment we arrived at the house and were welcomed by Mélanie, one of the caretakers, we knew, that our expectations were to be exceeded in every respect. Ann has created an oasis of calm and beauty at Les Murets. The large property with its magnificent landscaping offers marvelous views in complete tranquility and the house itself has a relaxed elegance, where we felt at home immediately. All people we have encountered through Ann’s introductions to make our stay so memorable and magical, impressed us with their professional kindness and utter charm, which are second to none. 10+ out of 10 in all categories.

Our recent stay at this property will go down as one of our most memorable! The view from the front terrace as the sun sets should not be missed! The house is beautifully styled and
Is prettier than pictured! The decor is warm and inviting, the kitchen well stocked, and Nicholas, the caretaker, was quick to respond to a minor problem! The owner has painstakingly curated the house such that every need of the guest is met!
The location was ideal for us to take day trips to surrounding villages, wineries, and markets! As prearranged, Chantal, delivered a wonderful dinner the night we arrived after a long day of traveling! I would definitely recommend doing that to any traveler who comes from far! The owner, offers many suggestions as to day trips, favorite restaurants, markets, etc. which we readily followed. You will not be disappointed in this rental!

Oh my, what a lovely review! Thank you so much. We are so thrilled that you loved the house and the area (and our very special caretaker, Nicolas) and we hope we'll have you back again to Les Murets. We'll tell Chantal! Merci ... et a bientot.
My girlfriends and I had an amazing stay at this simply gorgeous house. The house is tastefully decorated and the outside is so quiet and peaceful. From the moment we arrived we were so relaxed and comfortable. The pool is gorgeous and the stars at night are bright. The house is in a fabulous location. Everyday we drove to gorgeous medieval villages, wineries and sights. We hired a bike tour operator one day who took us on an amazing ride through the lavender and sunflower fields as well as some towns. The home comes with 2 caretakers who absolutely took care of us helping us book restaurants and other activities when our French failed us! The owner also sent us a detailed document on things to do which was extremely helpful for our planning. I literally had a dream about Les Murets my first night home. Please don’t hesitate to book this gorgeous home for your dream Provence vacation.

A Paradise in Provence
The photos do not do justice to this beautiful home. I was there on a girls trip with five friends, and we loved everything about this house. It is beautifully furnished and equipped with all that was needed for a wonderful week. The owner is a dream to deal with and provided us with very useful information about the area to make this a perfect vacation. While we enjoyed visiting many of the local villages and wineries, it was always so relaxing to come back and enjoy our evenings at the house. The views are absolutely amazing. I only wish that it had been warmer so that we could have used the pool. We ended up using five of the bedrooms and the loft, and we were all happy with our rooms. All were in beautiful condition and very comfortable. The same can be said for the bathrooms. All had great showers with plenty of hot water. This is one of the top rentals that I've had, and I look forward to returning in the future.

About the host
Hosted by Ann Huff - Owner
We have owned Les Murets since 2001, after a glorious 'sabbatical' year in Provence, when we fell in love with the area and decided to plant roots there. Everything about this experience has been wonderful, from discovering secrets about the property, to meeting and befriending our most marvelous caretakers, to hosting lots of friends and guests at this property, to writing about it extensively.
Ann owns Huff Harrington Fine Art and Huff Harrington Home in Atlanta, two businesses built upon our love of France and our appreciation for an artful lifestyle. You can follow us on instagram @huffharrington or by reading our blog, The Artful Lifestyle. Ann's background in and passion for interior design has driven the renovations of Les Murets over the past few years, culminating in a full re-fluff in 2019 and continued in 2020. Bill's love of travel and passion for the Tour de France, cheese, chocolate and wine have made him the willing collaborator and happy sous-chef in all our activities.
Our favorite thing is to relax on the terrace in the evening with friends and family, overlooking the Luberon, enjoying a wonderful feast of fresh food from the market and a few delicious glasses of our favorite wine, listening to birds, smelling the lavender and enjoying every minute at Les Murets. We hope you will too.
Ann and Bill Huff
Why they chose this property
We had rented a charming house in the valley several years before buying ours and decided that it was the place we wanted to be. Luckily, we were able to justify this purchase because I own an art gallery and home furnishings store and represent several French artists and always jump at the opportunity to 'fill a container' with French antiques. Planting roots in the Luberon was almost like an extension of my business, and gave us all several reasons to return frequently. We fell in love with the area and when we came across this amazing property, we took a leap of faith ... and have been thrilled with it ever since.
What makes this property unique
There are so many things to do in the valley that we started a list of 25 favorite things to do. But as I was writing it, I realized that actually there were closer to 50 things. And then I read them to my family and they suggested another 25, and before I knew it, we had come up with 100 things to do in the area. The other evening, my daughter went through the list and checked off all the things she's tried. I loved listening to her comments like, 'Oooh, I remember when we did that!' and 'Oh that is my favorite thing to do!' There were several, 'Nope, haven't tried that' comments, and when I looked over her shoulder I was happy to see that they usually involved wine tastings! We have published our 100 things to do on our website, and we also offer our guests a full itinerary that goes day by day, taking in to account when stores, markets and restaurants are open so that you don't have to do the planning. We send you this itinerary when we receive your last payment for your stay.
