About this property
2 Bed in Rose Ash (oc-nether)
For lovers of historic buildings, this wing of a beautifully preserved 17th-century farmhouse overlooking the rolling Devon countryside is an ideal holiday choice. The spacious, thatched property is full of unspoiled period details such as ceiling beams, a splendid hall with wood panelling and a fine staircase with a church-like window. Set on a working cattle and sheep farm, it sleeps four guests and welcomes up to four pets. The bustling market town of South Molton is 6 miles away and this superb holiday home is within reach of the glorious Exmoor National Park and beautiful North Devon coast.
The living room is stylish and comfortable, with stylish sofas, a wood burner in a stone inglenook and patio doors opening onto the garden. An Aga is the hub of the traditional farmhouse kitchen, together with a separate electric cooker. Leading off are a utility room and study area, ideal for children and pet beds. Upstairs are a large family bathroom and two inviting bedrooms: a king-size with an en-suite and a super-king-size bed that can be made into twin beds upon request when booking. Outside, the large garden has seating, lovely country views and direct access to 160 acres of land with a nearby stream.
South Molton has shops, restaurants and tearooms, with local produce and handmade goods for sale at the historic, twice-weekly Pannier Market. Visit the fascinating Quince Honey Farm where you can watch millions of busy bees hard at work, safely behind glass. For wild ponies, wooded valleys and tumbling rivers, head to Exmoor (10 miles). There is a wealth of wonderful walks to enjoy, from a leisurely ramble to a challenging hike, while local stables offer a range of pony treks across the moor.
