About this property
Weavers Cottage, Central Southwold, Pet Friendly & Parking (Sleeps 4, 2 Bedroom)
Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 has two single beds. Both rooms are comfortable, with ample spare duvets/bedding. The boiler is located on the stairs, there is full gas central heating. There is a hair dryer available.
1 downstairs bathroom, with bath, wc and excellent micra shower over bath. Fully fitted kitchen/diner with a washing machine/electric hob/double oven/microwave/toaster/undercounter fridge with icebox. There is seating for four(and some spare chairs), and a stable door which leads to the outside yard. Door from kitchen giving access to upstairs.
Entering via the front door, the lounge has 2 x settees, 1 comfy chair/a bookcase/nest of tables/ games/ 43 ins flat screen tv (Freeview)/dvd player. There is an attractive fireplace, with a mirror above. Leads to the hallway. Great dvd and book collection(in both cottages).
Small hallway area with an area for hanging coats and an under stairs cupboard containing hoover etc. WiFi available not guaranteed in the event of breakdown ( although this has never happened).
FREE WiFi. Loom (no 6) and Weavers (no 5) are both lovely character cottages, pre dating 1840. There is a garage for Loom, and parking availability for Weavers, they are situated in a private road just off Southwold Common. They can be booked individually or as a pair (great for extended family breaks allowing privacy yet close proximity at the same time). Weavers and Loom Cottage are located in central Southwold, off the High Street and Southwold Common.Accessed from The High Street, past the Blythe Hotel (after crossing Mights Bridge), then turning right at John Bennett's Architect's shop straight into Spinners Lane. At the end of Spinners Lane, lies 'Rope Walk' where rope and fishing net twine was made in the mid 19th century. There are 2 semi detached white-washed cottages (can be booked as a pair or on their own) on the right as you enter the Lane, and Loom Cottage is the furthest cottage, Weavers is the cottage closest to you in the photos, both are compact and comfortable, with a real 'home to home' feel. There is an outside area to the front of each property, where it is perfect to sit and watch the world go by, there is a bench at the front of Loom, table and chairs at the front of Weavers. There are many homely additions indoors, including a really good book and an impressive dvd collection featuring up to date releases. We welcome dogs (we can allow 2-please discuss prior to stay), on the proviso they stay downstairs! The property is very old, but it has been sympathetically updated, with comfy furnishings. Spinners Lane has only 7 other properties, and the garage is just 15 metres down the Lane. There is a small back yard, with table and chairs, just outside Loom kitchen. No 5 (Weavers) has a smaller back yard and access across the rear of the Loom. In reality this is usually only applicable to take the bins round to the front. Both back yards are enclosed. The pubs, shops and beach are all within 10 mins walk away, fish & chip shop 2 mins walk! The cottages can be booked individually or as a pair, and throughout the year/short breaks/ weekends etc (although these would be mainly out of season). Weavers Cottage (nearest to you in the picture) is very similar (see pictures) and it's hard to choose between the two! The garage for Loom is clearly marked, and in the lane and there is parking in the lane (subject to availability) for Weavers occupants and additional Loom residents. We always manage to park in the lane! It is always possible to load and unload right outside the cottages, which is very convenient. There is additional free parking on the common, just 2 mins walk away! There is a comfy roll up double mattress we can supply on request for Weavers and Loom has a sofa bed in situ downstairs, so the cottage can sleep 5 adults at a push (discuss first, 4 adults would be more comfortable) . We can also provide a travel cot, safety gate and high chair on request. Staircase in Loom is enclosed, with a handrail, not very steep at all (not like some cottage stairs we have seen which can be scary). Just 10 stairs in Loom, 9 in Weavers. We do welcome children and pooches, we allow 2 (fees apply) but we must know the breed/s. We are very flexible out of season offering stays from 1 night minimum.

About the host
Hosted by Kerry Pace

I come from Potters Bar in Hertfordshire-and as children- the only holidays we ever had were in Southwold. My grandmother moved to Walberswick when I reached my teens so gradually I became more and more familiar with the area. My husband came from Croydon ( we settled in Warlingham, Surry nearby) and I certainly would never have guessed we would end up living here permanently-but it happened!
Weavers came up for sale so (after much shuffling of finances) we bought it (enjoying family holidays ourselves) and managed any lettings from afar. When Loom came on the market (although not a practical or sensible purchase at the time) 9 years later we went for it!
In 2015 we realised life is short (and special) so (almost on a whim) we sold up, moved to St George's Square and decided to manage the cottages ourselves full-time. We still love London (so we're always on the road) and all it has to offer but we can now offer a personal service to our guests which would have been impossible otherwise.
Southwold is truly a unique place-the shopkeepers are so friendly-the air is clear (see the stars)-food is really good-our guests are lovely-it is relaxed-what's not to like?
The season is now all year round-January is one of our busiest times-it's amazing! New Year is absolutely rammed to the rafters-and Feb Half Term and October Half Term are the same! We have a flexible approach-we offer one night stays occasionally( out of season and on other occasions too) plus frequently offer 2 nightly stays-this is unusual plus we are competitive price wise too!

Why they chose this property
The location is simply perfect-private-in a private lane-with parking availability too. Located just off Southwold Common with access through the stile at the end of the lane. The golf course and numerous walks (including to Walberswick) on your doorstep-and yet-you're just off the High Street too! Seven minutes walk to the beach-2 minutes to the nearest fish and chip shop-5 minutes to eateries and pubs. Hoorah! We thought we knew Southwold well-but until Weavers came up for sale we didn't even know Spinners Lane existed! It's so 'tucked away'-like a special secret! Also, we couldn't afford a bigger place so it was important that we chose a place that was practical and comfortable-we had to make the most of our budget. Many properties we saw were not practical-stairs were too steep-the price was too high- the front door opened right onto the street-there was no parking-the front room was just too small to fit decent furniture etc. Weavers is not large but the proportions are good (it's not pokey)-it ticked the boxes- luckily-we liked it and so do our customers! It has a real holiday feel-and you can sit out the front watching the world go by without a care in the world!
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location! Parking Availability. Mention your special occasion and we'll provide a treat for your loved one! Southwold Common on your doorstep-shops round the corner!
