Skye Eco Bells is a unique Eco Glamping site in the north west of the Isle of Skye and within easy driving distance of all the major attractions. We only have 3 Finnish Huts and 1 Bell tent to keep the site small so you can enjoy some tranquility and time to relax and unwind whilst having a great base to explore all of Skye.
The site has no electricity or WiFi so you can really disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with the important things.......each other and the stunning natural landscape around you. Lighting is provided by rechargeable lights and candle power.
Our furnished 5m Finnish Huts sleep 2 people in a double bed. Sit by your outdoor firepit after exploring the island or relax in your cosy cabin, warmed by the wood burning stove. Each cabin also has it's own fire pit and BBQ area to enjoy outdoor fires and sit under the stars with a drink or 2! Your first basket of firewood is free but if you need more there is firewood available to buy on site. You will also have access to The Hub social camp kitchen that is fully kitted out for all your cooking needs and furnished in a cosy style with candle lanterns and a wood burning stove for those cooler evenings. The Shack provides additional cooking/eating space and is convenient for making that morning cup of coffee to start your day of exploring. The site also has a unique greenhouse shower and composting toilet that fit in with our eco credentials and reduce our impact upon the environment.
Up to 2 dogs are welcome by prior arrangement only. There is an additional £10 charge which you can pay when you visit.
Skye Eco Bells is all about reconnecting with the natural world and reducing our impact on the environment whilst providing you with a fun, cosy and adventurous holiday. Escape the outside world completely for a digital detox and discover the total relaxation of simple living or use Eco Bells as a restorative base to return to after a busy day of sight seeing. This was a very special place. If you are ok with the eco thing, compost loos etc then don't hesitate to book. Such a good location, off the beaten track. Hosts are lovely and they had thought of everything, outdoor and indoor space for cooking, easy reach of Dunvegan with a bar and restaurants, and very private. Loved our stay here.
Glamping made fun with all the extras you could want! Clean cottage, tidy kitchens, and ample room for parking. With the chilly weather, the in cottage wood stove was an essential part of our comfort, with amazing bedding that kept us warm and cozy!
Beautiful property and glamping getaway! The campsite had great amenities and ease of getting around, would highly recommend if you are looking for an unplugged getaway!!
Our stay at this property was just what we needed after a busy week of being in the city. The location, thoughtful touches and overall ethos that Nadia has created is amazing. Will absolutely stay again
This place aligns with our environmental values and was very eco conscious. Also extremely clean and cozy. The tiny wood stove kept us very warm and dry considering the very wet weather we had. The cabin and out buildings were very well equipped and absolutely adorable. Location was convenient to where we wanted to explore.
Visited for 4 days my partner and i. Had a lovely time staying at Eco Bells, quiet and serene location within easy access of Dunvegan. Beautiful to be so close to nature- can view the surrounding fauna from your bed! Scott seems to be an excellent weatherman also advising us on the forecast and being accurate both days to the hour! Will stay again- thanks!
Skye eco bells is a must!
Maybe you purposely are glamping, maybe it’s what’s available, or this is your budget—-either way, your stay will be a 10!!! My personal favorite was the shower—-like a spa setting!
We did not use the kitchen, but it looked fairly well, equipped with coolers instead of a refrigerator for storing foods. The hut itself was extremely clean and nice, and came with firewood for the woodstove extra candles for lighting and matches. Extra blankets and towels as well. It was a very relaxing place to stay out in the countryside and I would recommend and stay again.
we loved our stay here. it was me and my mum. we adored the sustainable facilities and the quality of thought out into the systems. this was a magical experience that allowed you to immerse yourself into the joy of Skye and was an amazing chance to ground ourselves. highly recommend!!
My wife and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon, specifically in the Storr cabin. The grounds were very clean and quaint. Great location to Skye and easily accessible.
Communication with the hosts was prompt and accommodating to our needs. They even offered to relay possible emergency messages due to a family issue if need be. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a nice stay in Skye!
Skye Eco Bells is the most unique place my husband and I have stayed. Every detail of the property was meticulously thought out and the owners put so much work into sustainability. Although you are tucked into the woods, the entire property is incredibly clean. My husband hates spiders and didn’t see one on our stay! It’s a great spot for exploring the isle and cozy retreat to rest. We particularly enjoyed the wood stove and cooking in the shared kitchen. There’s even a nice walk right from the property to a local beach. You are also 5-10m from Dunvegan. Don’t hesitate! Book a stay here. We hope to be back one day.
We're not campers. We're not even outdoors people. We're older (67 & 82). We loved every minute of our stay here. If you're like us, don't hesitate, GO!
It's a bit of a drive, single track, but don't let that deter you. The ambiance is just wonderful. Even in the cold & rain like it was for us. Your tiny but super-efficient wood burner, your totally cozy hut, the spacious & well-supplied shared kitchen, the best shower, and the attention to all the details - there's a lot of care here - made for a very special, way out of the ordinary, fun and satisfying experience.
This accommodation is simply enchanting! A couple of managers have made a real effort here and created something unique. Everything is well thought out, lovingly furnished and very well maintained. What you shouldn't expect: a holiday feeling like in a guesthouse with the comfort you would expect there. What you do get: a feeling of "we should all think a bit like this", being close to nature, a romantic atmosphere next to the crackling fire in your cabin, all the necessary comforts are there (a proper bed, a hot shower, a toilet, a hand towel) but otherwise just a camping feeling.

About the host
Hosted by Nadia & Scott MacLucas-Paton
We have lived on the Isle of Skye for 12 years now, our wee family is very outdoorsy and we all love spending time in the great outdoors, wether that be working at Eco Bells or having adventures around the Island and beyond.
Why they chose this property
Orbost is a quiet area of Skye but equally as stunning as other parts, we have almost 9 acres of our own land where we raise our family, our hens and horses and we grow our own vegetables, Within a short walk from Eco Bells we have an amazing beach and we are nestled at the base of the MacLeods Tables.
What makes this property unique
We are the only genuinely off grid glamping site on Skye and possibly the West Coast of Scotland. There are lots of pods, cabins, etc on Skye but nowhere offers the space to enjoy and offers communal kitchens where you can discuss with other guests places they have visited, make new friends and have a really positive experience of Skye and enjoy the peace away from the crowds.
We are fully committed to the environment and as such all of our cleaning products, bin bags, shampoos, conditioner and soaps are all fully biodegradeable. We have planted 1000's of trees and this is increasing the amount of flaura and fauna we get and offers and amazing habitat for more wildlife in all forms. Ecology is at the heart of everything we do at Eco Bells and if it can change or encourage others to think in a similar way then we would be really happy with that. Our impact upon the land is as small as it can possibly be and we are always looking at ways we can improve.
