About this property
Littlefields - With hot tub and short walk to beach
For an unpretentious, buckets-and-spade family holiday, head to Littlefields in the traditional village of Seaton. This beautifully designed open-plan cottage is just a short walk to the bright and breezy town centre and beach. After a day by the sea, let the children run wild in the huge back garden, while you enjoy a glass of bubbly and a hydropool spa on the large patio area or cosy up inside around the woodburner after a bracing autumn walk. The original farm cottage used to be surrounded by fields and was owned by the same family for nearly 100 years. Renovated in 2020 to the highest of standards, today it provides a relaxed, comfortable environment for families or a group of friends.
Modern comfort depicts the vibe at Littlefields. This home is the epitome of relaxed charm, where you can kick back in style. The pretty open-plan kitchen and dining area is ideal for big family meals and bi-fold doors make the most of indoor-outdoor living in good weather. Imagine returning from the beach and sipping a glass of something cold on the pretty terrace, while the children play in the large, 45 metre-long garden. Eat outside – there are pretty lanterns for when darkness falls – then drift back in to relax in the two lounge areas. The sumptuously decorated first lounge comfortably seats four and is a lovely space to cosy up around the woodburner to watch a movie. The second lounge has space for three and is a peaceful place to settle down with a book or game of Scrabble.

A day out in Seaton means plenty of good, clean fun. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump from Littlefields into the town centre and its pretty beach and esplanade. Spend the morning paddleboarding at the beach – hire all your kit at Seaton Bay Watersports – then head to the Hideaway for a delicious locally sourced lunch. This is a fabulous seaside cafe tucked – as its name suggests – safely away from the more populated main town at the end of the esplanade.
In the afternoon, join Wild East Devon rangers at Seaton Wetlands (a must for nature lovers) for a family fun-packed hour of exploring, discovering wildlife and getting creative. You can also have a personalised guided trail of discovery, well away from any crowds, to behind-the-scenes places where you can feel completely isolated and at ease. One of the most picturesque villages in Devon, Colyton, which provides a wealth of historic buildings and independent shops, is just a 20-minute stroll away.
Littlefields is also an excellent base to explore the Jurassic Coastline and east Devon or Dorset. Seaton is set in a landscape of outstanding natural beauty, and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Seaton Jurassic, Devon Wildlife Trust’s flagship visitor centre, is a dynamic new attraction that tells the amazing story of the remarkable coastline – a fascinating experience for any budding archaeologists in your party. Further up the coast and worth a visit are Lyme Regis Museum and Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, which have fossil displays and hold fossil walks.
Once you’ve explored the coastline on land, take in the view from the sea with Stuart Line Cruises, based in Exmouth. Gaze at the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, cruise the beautiful River Exe or visit a picture-postcard South Devon town, such as Sidmouth.
Hire traditional wooden self-drive boats and set sail for an hour’s mackerel fishing in Beer – a delightful fishing village, recently named BBC Countryfile’s Best Picnic Spot 2020. Enjoy the view at Ducky’s beach cafe, which does great crab and even ice cream for dogs!
For bright lights and culture, it’s a 35-minute drive to Exeter. Head there for city shopping, restaurants and bars.
Seaton town centre and the beach are within walking distance from Littlefields. Take the unique Seaton Tramway, which runs open-roofed narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley. You’ll travel alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves with unrivalled views of the abundant wading bird life.
