About this property
Littlefields
Summary:
Beautifully Designed Cottage in Seaside Seaton
For a relaxed, family-friendly coastal escape in Devon, Littlefields is the perfect setting. This beautifully designed open-plan cottage sits in the traditional seaside village of Seaton, a short walk from the town centre, esplanade and beach. From sunny beach days to autumn strolls on the Jurassic Coast or cosy evenings by the fire, Littlefields delivers year-round comfort and character.
The Space:
Originally a farm cottage owned by the same family for nearly a century, Littlefields was renovated in 2020 and reimagined as a bright, modern retreat—perfect for families or groups of friends. Inside, the mood is relaxed, contemporary and welcoming. The stylish open-plan kitchen and dining area is ideal for big family meals, with bi-fold doors extending the living space into the outdoors during warm weather. After a day by the sea, pour a chilled drink on the terrace while the children explore the huge 45-metre garden, or slip into the soothing hydropool spa—a must-have luxury for unwinding.
As evening arrives, light the woodburner and settle in. Littlefields features two beautifully furnished lounges, offering plenty of space for families to spread out. The main lounge seats four comfortably and is perfect for movie nights by the fire, while the second lounge provides a peaceful hideaway for reading, games or quiet relaxation.
Guest Access:
Fresh Escapes will provide in advance details on how to access the property. We also give you an in-depth manual with local recommendations so that you make the most of your stay.
The Neighborhood:
A day out in Seaton means plenty of good, clean fun. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump from Littlefields into the town centre and its pretty beach and esplanade. Spend the morning paddleboarding at the beach – hire all your kit at Seaton Bay Watersports – then head to the Hideaway for a delicious locally sourced lunch. This is a fabulous seaside cafe tucked – as its name suggests – safely away from the more populated main town at the end of the esplanade.
In the afternoon, join Wild East Devon rangers at Seaton Wetlands (a must for nature lovers) for a family fun-packed hour of exploring, discovering wildlife and getting creative. You can also have a personalised guided trail of discovery, well away from any crowds, to behind-the-scenes places where you can feel completely isolated and at ease. One of the most picturesque villages in Devon, Colyton, which provides a wealth of historic buildings and independent shops, is just a 20-minute stroll away.
Littlefields is also an excellent base to explore the Jurassic Coastline and east Devon or Dorset. Seaton is set in a landscape of outstanding natural beauty, and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Seaton Jurassic, Devon Wildlife Trust’s flagship visitor centre, is a dynamic new attraction that tells the amazing story of the remarkable coastline – a fascinating experience for any budding archaeologists in your party. Further up the coast and worth a visit are Lyme Regis Museum and Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, which have fossil displays and hold fossil walks.
Once you’ve explored the coastline on land, take in the view from the sea with Stuart Line Cruises, based in Exmouth. Gaze at the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, cruise the beautiful River Exe or visit a picture-postcard South Devon town, such as Sidmouth.
Hire traditional wooden self-drive boats and set sail for an hour’s mackerel fishing in Beer – a delightful fishing village, recently named BBC Countryfile’s Best Picnic Spot 2020. Enjoy the view at Ducky’s beach cafe, which does great crab and even ice cream for dogs!
For bright lights and culture, it’s a 35-minute drive to Exeter. Head there for city shopping, restaurants and bars.
Getting Around:
Seaton town centre and the beach are within walking distance from Littlefields. Take the unique Seaton Tramway, which runs open-roofed narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley. You’ll travel alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves with unrivalled views of the abundant wading bird life.

Really lovely house. Perfect for us. Staying in February it was lovely to walk on the beach in the rain and come back to a lovely welcoming home and the hot tub of course!

Lovely property in a good location
Lovely property in a good location with beautiful scenery and surroundings. The place is beautiful and spacious and the hot tub is a lovely addition.
Property lacked personal touch and could do with more ‘essential’ items especially in the kitchen.

August 26 stay.
Nice location, bedrooms and kitchen comfortable and well-stocked. You allowed us a late checkout but, similarly to last time, the cleaner was not informed.
The place was not clean as it has been on previous occasions we have stayed here. There were crumbs in one of tables in the small lounge, lots of mess on the patio (looked like it had fallen from the gutters perhaps?), what seemed to be sand in the hot tub, which was overfilled and smelled strongly of the cleaning chemicals . The door knob in the master bedroom still comes off in your hand- we’ve mentioned this before.
we had a lovely time staying at LIttlefields. The property, especially the main kitchen, dining and entertainment area was perfect for our weekend away- for cooking, relaxing in the hot tub and long lunches and dinners. The location was easy, a little far from the town centre on foot, but not bad. A few small issues- the dryer didn't work properly and the kitchen lacked soem essentials like tea towels and enough cutlery for the four adults, but all in all a great stay.
The property was very warm & comfortable. With excellent facilities, everything was in good order. It had everything that we could need, with a super comfortable bed! The house was well situated, which made travelling about the area very easy. It was great sitting at the table watching a large selection of birds playing about the garden, we had a lovely time

We had a lovely, comfortable stay at this property. It is decorated nicely and has modern appliances
The property was clean and comfortable. In particular the open plan kitchen, dining room and seating area was perfect for a small group to eat together and play board games.
No saltpepper was provided and the coffee pods were the incorrect ones. Spare cleaning cloths would be handy.

We had a lovely time exploring Devon and Dorset and this property provided the perfect base
We had a lovely time exploring Devon and Dorset and this property provided the perfect base. Property was as described with a lovely open plan kitchen, diner living space. Overall we had a nice stay there and would recommend to others who like us want to explore the local seaside towns… Sidmouth and Lyme Regis being our favourites.
The house is just looking a little bit tired in certain areas and you can tell it’s had lots of wear and tear over the years. Just needs a little bit of a love to bring it back to its best.

Beautiful house in a great location
Beautiful house in a great location, just 20 mins walk to Seaton town. We stayed here to run the Grizzly run and it was perfect for what we needed. The hot tub was great after a tough hilly run! The house was clean and the kitchen area was large and a great space. There was plenty of utensils and towels etc
The TV would not work it just came up with no signal.

Nice time in a nice place
It was another beautiful time in a beautiful house. Unfortunately, there was a place in the garden with a lot of garbage.

5 relaxing days
we loved the house, everything was of good quality. the large garden was a plus, and 5 door window were open most of the stay enjoying the sea air. Fresh milk on arrival was much appreciated. Hot tub is very nice as well as bbq. Uber didn't turn up but bus stop was nearby and very convinient.
a toilet upstairs would be better, even thought bathroom downstairs was amazing especially the large shower. Pub is not walking distance. Quiet location and friendly neighborhood.
Lovely location for beaches such as Beer and Branscombe. House was beautifully done, cosy and great base for the surrounding areas. One slight problem with the bath but it was fixed so quickly without any issues. Would definitely recommend - thank you
