Checking was very easy. The house is big with multiple king beds, game area, large kitchen and table. Location in Grindelwald is an easy walk to downtown restaurants and hikes. I would stay here again.
Pros: Amazing view of Eiger from the 2nd floor. Lots of space, big kitchen and living areas. Minor Cons: showers are small, and not the closest spot to downtown Grindelwald if you'll be going back and forth frequently on foot. Thanks for a great stay!
We loved the large open plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The views were spectacular and the location was great. Some instructions for the oven would be helpful.
We had a great time at this property! Close to the center of town, bus stop and swimming pool. There were a few dead bugs in the house but otherwise good cleanliness. Plenty of plates and silverware for a group. The beds were especially comfy. Thanks!
This house was perfect for our group of 9. We had plenty of room and a great backyard for the kids. The location was good and the bus stopped very close to the house. Marco was very good at replying quickly to any questions I had. I would definitely stay here again!
Overall, the property worked for our needs. The address listed is actually to the rental property office, but the exact house. So it’s a bit farther out of downtown than it seems, but we had a car and it seemed public transport was close by. Showers are quite small, but normal for Europe. Beds are very firm, but fine for a short trip. Kitchen has basic essentials. We had to wash some of the bedding when we arrived on two beds as they smelled used and sweaty. Only one set of towels per guest and one pillow was not enough, but we made due using the washer. Host was very communicative and easy to get ahold of. Sent great instructions on check in. We loved Grindewald!
Chalet Delphin was a perfect place for our group of 10. the kitchen/living area are very spacious. Only recommendations would be stove/oven directions would be helpful but YouTube worked and perhaps a few extra towels/pillows. Laundry takes so long and having some extras to use while laundering would be great. Some tips for the area: 1. The house is an uphill walk to town (you can use the road or there is a more direct but steeper pathway across the street. Good for exercise but if you are tired you can take the train from Grindelwald Grund (the path is just behind the hill and that goes to Grindelwald station every 30 mins) or Grindelwald Terminal. There is also a bus but we did not use it. The stop is actually at the Chalet, but road construction had closed the route while we were there. 2. Just down the hill at Grindelwald Terminal you will find the gondola to take you up to Eiger as well as the one to Mannlechin and they are both great. We visited Mannlechin a lot for the playground at the top as well as the views. We even took the train to Lauterbrunnen on our way back from Interlaken and then the train up to Wengen, the Wengen cable car up to Mannlechin, and then the gondola back down to Terminal. 3. You can walk on an almost flat path from down the hill past Grindelwald Grund to the cool Canyon Gorge.4. The First gondola is in town, a 10 minute walk up from Grindelwald Terminal. 5. Coop grocery in town AND in the Terminal station.Such a fun time, thanks!
The location of this property was very easy to get to from Grindelwald Terminal, Easy to get around with the SBB train/bus app. Check-in was easy, we arrived early, they let us put our bags in the house while we waited to check in. Upon arrival the house had plenty of room for the 7 of us. Kitchen had pot & pans, oven is confusing to work & no oil for the fondue pots, but had extra toilet paper! The house could have been cleaned better. Our bedroom sheets were dirty & did not smell clean, the floors/bathrooms/showers were all dirty & pieces were broken on the shower & the toilet. Upstairs bathroom sinks wouldn't drain & smelled awful. The other shower upstairs wouldn't drain & we came downstairs to water running down the kitchen wall after our first night there. The place had other small things loose or broken, door handles, outside table, upstairs wardrobe at risk of breaking/falling over, etc. smaller things that could easily be fixed. My dad took the drain apart & tightened it and seemed to help with the leaking ceiling. Marco was very quick to respond & had someone come out quickly to help w/the leak, but we were unable to use either of the bathrooms for a few days & all 7 of us had to use one bathroom. There is a washer & dryer on property, but it is very small & it takes 4-5 hours to wash & dry each load, but there are drying racks. Overall could be an awesome property if things were fixed and cleaned better for guests. Marco was kind & was not aware of the issues.
We (a group of 10 friends) stayed here for a week. The home is on the Grindelwald side of the river, a short walk from "Terminal" (for train connections, and gondola to Kleine Scheidegg), and with a bus stop literally out the front door (with connections to the center of Grindelwald). It is walkable to town, but a bit steep; the bus is easier.
The kitchen is modern and well appointed. The dining table is huge and suits 10 people just fine. The living area and outdoor patio/lawn are very nice.
Three bedrooms have double beds. Two have bunk/twin beds, best suited for children - though we adults squeezed into them. Three bedrooms share a second-floor balcony with views of the Eiger! Two bedrooms have a few of the street and the slopes above Grindelwald. One of the double-bed bedrooms is on the main floor.
We used the washing machine and air-dried our laundry on drying racks. Great to have!
We did not need the rec room or garage.
I would have appreciated more power outlets (for charging phones, laptops, etc), especially in the bedrooms, especially by the desk in that one room that has the desk.
If you arrive/depart by train, get off at "Grindelwald (Terminal)" (not "Grindelwald", in the center of town) because it is a much shorter walk with luggage. That said, if you DO get off at Grindelwald, walk a block to the bus stand and take the #123 down to the property at "Hellbach" stop. It only runs once an hour and doesn't run into the evening.
This is a fantastic property for a large group. The location is perfect with bus, train and gondola station within a few minutes walk. There is also a great swimming pool about 2 minutes walk.
The house is very comfortable but it would benefit from some written instructions on how to work the oven etc. Also, the oven needs some shelves and oven gloves!
Otherwise a lovely property
