Wonderful accommodation! Very spacious and clean. Spectacular property with beautiful space to walk around! Very quiet and close to a train station, we parked and took a train into Edinburgh. The property has everything you need for a longer stay, we stayed for 3 nights but would have loved to have been able to stay longer!

A great find
A wonderful find, perfect location for us. Cottage was quiet and peaceful. Warm and cozy once we got our heads around the heating system. Our plans had to change and Henrietta was most helpful in adding a couple of extra days. Will definitely be staying here again.

Cosy week away
From start to finish our stay at Lime Cottage was excellent. The accommodation was clean and cosy and, particularly important to us, the kitchen was well equipped for the cooking we planned to do during our stay. Our terrier, Gilbert, especially loved his early morning walks on the estate.
Arniston is very close to a railway station, so access to Edinburgh was simple.
During our visit we explored the Fife coastline, North Berwick beaches, Edinburgh and Rosslyn Chapel.
Communication preceding and during our stay was prompt and helpful, for which we were grateful.

A most wonderful stay
We stayed here for 5 nights . From booking to the actual stay- communication was fab. Lights were even kindly left on for us due to a late arrival so that we didn’t stumble in the dark. A cosy pretty cottage on a beautiful estate. A super easy train ride into Edinburgh. Absolutely would stay again- 5 star from us !

Perfect holiday cottage
We spent a week at Lime Cottage and it was perfect for our needs; comfortable, well equipped and with easy access to Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside.
We would definitely stay here again.
The cottage was perfect for our stay, safe location for our children, near railway station. Having access to free firewood was a lovely touch.

Nice little spot
We four (three adults, one child) enjoyed our four night stay at Lime Cottage. Convenient for what we had in mind re visiting relatives in the area. Also convenient train service to Edinburgh. The estate grounds are lovely (mid-Sept). Gentle if manicured walks and pleasing views of.the Pentland Hills.

Autumn Stay
Lovely stay at Lime cottage for a week with our two dogs. Well furnished though took a while to warm up. Could do with a few more lights outside especially when needing to take the dogs out when it is dark. We would easily stay again.
A lovely cottage, in the countryside and yet so close to Edinburgh. The cottage had everything we needed and we really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Cottage
A beautiful cottage and setting, every effort had been made to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The log burner with plenty of fire wood made for cosey evenings. Ideal for trips into Edinburgh.

Lovely traditional cottage in a lovely location
This is the second time we have stayed in the cottages. It’s in a lovely location and is very convenient for us visiting family in the area. The cottages have many traditional features which are lovely albeit some are looking a little bit tired, however, excellent value for money.

Excellent
Everything about the stay was perfect. I particularly like that there was not an extra charge for logs. The country side and nature are beautiful and abundant. We felt happy, comfortable and welcomed during our stay. We are going back in November.
About the host
Hosted by Henrietta Dundas
My family, The Dundas family, have owned and lived at Arniston for 450 years. We very much enjoy welcoming visitors to the estate to experience the timeless beauty of our home. The current mansion house was built by William Adam in 1726 and many of our cottage visitors enjoy the guided tours which run from May to mid-September. We are so fortunate to live in the country yet we have Edinburgh with all its attractions just a short train ride away.
Why they chose this property
The properties were built in the 18th century to house the foresters who worked on the estate in days gone by.
What makes this property unique
The stunning setting for our properties is always remarked on. Arniston is a designated designed landscape with many ancient broadleaf trees and wonderful woodlands to explore with pets. We have the best of both worlds as the buzz of our capital city, Edinburgh with all its attractions is a 25 minute train ride away.
