About this property
Cosy rural hideaway
Sitting at the end of a traditional Welsh longhouse, “y beudy” (the cow byre) is a country lover's happy place. The sitting room/kitchen is full of character and charm while the cosy bedroom upstairs nestles under the roof with exposed beams. It is accessed through the garden room where you can relax by the welcoming warmth of the log burning stove as you gaze at the stars in our dark sky. The toilet and shower room is conveniently situated on the ground floor through from the living room.
A welcome basket will always contain coffee, tea, sugar & milk, plus seasonal items if available such as homemade jam, our own apple juice, eggs from our girls or homemade bread. We also provide the store cupboard basics eg. salt & pepper, cooking oil, red & brown sauces, washing up liquid.
Although not with exclusive use, guests are welcome to sit in the garden. We are a smallholding so expect to see hens pecking about, Lucy the horse looking over the wall, the dogs of course, or pigs and sheep in the fields next door.
Our bottom gate leads out onto rugged hillside, where you can walk for miles.
We sit above the beautiful river Wye, and canoeing is available from the world famous Hay-on-Wye (11 miles away) and Glasbury (10 miles). Horse riding can also be booked (8 miles away).
The Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Elan Valley and Cambrian Mountains are all within easy reach, or perhaps enjoy a visit to nearby Builth Wells or Brecon for lunch or a browse around the shops.
Note: please read all information regarding pets.

Frequently asked questions
About the host
Hosted by Jackie

Hello, we are Jackie & Paul. We love where we live, and want to share this beautiful location with others. We enjoy simple, rural living and do our best to live as sustainably as we can. We grow our own veg, raise our own meat (for Paul, I'm a veggie!) and try to do our bit for the planet. But we're no eco-warriors!
Why they chose this property
This is a place to relax and unwind, and to enjoy a little peace in a busy world. It's great to be able to go through our bottom gate straight onto the rugged hill, where you can walk for miles.
What makes this property unique
We chose this house because of its history and character. We love its nooks and crannies, its thick walls and open fireplaces. It’s over 400 years old and every inch tells a story.
