Very nice clean and tidy house by the canal
Perfect place as a base for Brecon town and the mountains .
Both nights spent by the fire at the Clarence lovely food and a pint or two of Butty .
Great staff and also some beautiful photography to look at there .
Lovely home and as always good people in Brecon .
Amazing little cottage overlooking canal with a log burner for chilly nights. What more could you ask for?
Fully equipped and clean kitchen, bathroom and really beautiful homely house.
We absolutely loved our weekend here!
Thank you
Despite the draining of the canal we had a lovely stay. Cottage was great and in a perfect location. Helen (the host) was very kind in giving us a small discount due to canal drainage! I would add mirrors above the chests of drawers in the bedrooms and the use of a clothes airer to make it even more perfect.
I would give this cottage 10 out of 10 for everything. It is spotless very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.
The tea bags coffee and milk in the fridge were appreciated.
The sun lounge is very relaxing over looking the canal and the cottage is close to everything.
The only faults we had were the stairs are very slippery and could maybe do with some carpet on them?
And the street is so narrow and over crowded it is impossible to park down there but we did find alternative parking on the main street.
We will definately be back again. It was a very relaxing stay.
Great cottage - very comfortable and well equipped. Fantastic location right by the canal and close to the busy town but quiet and peaceful. We had sunshine all weekend and were able to enjoy sitting in the garden but also made use of the conservatory in the cooler evenings and can imagine even on a wet day it would be lovely to sit and watch the world go by.
Well located for exploring the Brecons and based on a previous review - we walked the four waterfalls walk and agree it is a stunning walk - popular but perfect on a hot day.
Parking is the only downside but managed to park on the main street and the neighbours that we met were very friendly so have no doubt they wouldn't mind anyone taking time to unload/load outside the property if needed.
Would happily stay here again and Helen was a great host.
It was an amazing stay. The cottage is so lovely. It is located in a very picturesque place and is very central. It is a cozy and comfortable place and I can only describe the place as heavenly. Helen, the host, is a great communicator and was very welcoming and accommodating. The place was clean. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, tea, coffee and milk. The sun room is a great place to do some leisure reading while enjoying the view of the canal. There is a nice fire place (with logs and other required things stocked) which you can enjoy in the cozy living room. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated. Highly recommend this place.
Great stay - lovely spot by the canal. As advised parking was a bit tricky. Property had everything we needed, was clean and all our queries were answered promptly.
All very comfortable and cosy downstairs in the lounge and the kitchen was well equipped. However, the bedding was a little tired and could do with renewing. There was no useable mirror in the bathroom. The bathroom cabinet was too high up to see into unless you were very tall, so useless for cleansing your face and teeth and putting contact lenses in. Nowhere to stand your shower gel or shampoo in the shower except the floor. Very few plug sockets upstairs. But the view was lovely along the canal and the sunroom fab. Great area and Brecon is lovely. Recommend the Castle of Brecon Hotel. Fabulous food albeit a little more expensive than your normal pub. Great stay!
Helen’s cottage is lovely and had everything we needed for a family of 4 adults. We loved the conservatory overlooking the canal and made good use of the garden. Helen was very responsive to our queries and made sure that our stay was comfy. We highly recommend this property.
Exceptionally clean, bright, cozy cottage with stunning views. Quiet, peaceful, felt like a retreat while being conveniently in the center of town. Host communicated very proactively and responded quickly. The kitchen was excellently equipped to cook for our family of four, and watching the duck families on the canal provided endless peaceful entertainment!
We enjoyed our stay here. Everything worked well and we really enjoyed sitting in the sun room watching the comings and goings on the canal as the sun went down.
We regularly rent for short breaks all over the country and this was one of a favorites ever. The cleaners need a superb review all of their own!The decor is perfect for the property and the kitchen contains everything you could need. The garden overlooking the canal is simple and beautiful. We were blessed by the weather so we had a few relaxing drinks watching the world go by and enjoyed ever moment. The town has a variety of shops and is easily walk-able (5 minute stroll) from the cottage. The nearest pub is only 2 minutes walk away. There are many other 'drinking holes', the majority of which are dog friendly. In fact the majority of the town is dog friendly. If you like a takeaway they're not in short supply. Chinese, Indian, Thai, English, Fish and chips .....and more! The only thing I would say to be wary of is that some of the pubs don't follow their on-line advertised opening times so check them out particularly if you want to go for food. Not that you'll ever be left hungry. Don't be afraid to ask the locals for their suggestions, there are some nice places on side streets that you perhaps wouldn't otherwise find.We never return to the same place twice because there's so many places to see in the UK but if we did, Swan Cottage would be at the top of the list.
Loved being on the canal. Could watch the boats and walkers from the private patio. Full kitchen if you like to cook. Bedrooms were nice sized and great beds. We loved the location for walking around town. Very quiet.
Stayed here for 2 nights with my girls and an assistance dog. Very impressed with the ease of check in via key box. Charming property right on the canal. A little garden was a bonus too. Cupboards are well stocked with the basics so no need for cleaning items or tea ,coffee, milk, oil, salt and pepper etc
The only problem encountered was that the street is very narrow and was full of parked cars for most of our stay. We managed to park in the main road and on our last day when we returned there was a space so we grabbed it!! Made packing up much easier 😊 The property is so convenient to walk into town for dinner in the evening or for a morning stroll along the canal. We would definitely return.
Excellent, very clean. Everything there that you need.. nice little package to welcome you. Milk t bags coffee Welsh cakes etc… It is right on the canal where you can see the boats . We recommend the boat trip. Lovely and relaxing… very friendly ducks…. Everyone so friendly.. . Great for shopping, visit the cathedral and there are 2 museums , one is the military museum, very interesting. Lovely places for food. Basically a lovely holiday to experience …
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - fantastic sun room overlooking the canal where we spent most of our time watching the world go by. Lots to do in the area - highly recommend a stay here.
Great location, super cute cottage just outside of the Royal Welsh Show area but easy to travel backwards and forwards to on a daily basis. We loved our stay, thank you
Loved every minute of our stay here! Waking up and feeding the ducks with my kids every morning, having coffee in the sunroom, fly fishing from the backyard, so many great memories. Location is perfect, cottage is modern and bright with everything you need and Helen the owner is so nice and helpful. Will be back!!!
I was born and raised here in the Brecon beacons and have spent my life exploring every inch of this beautiful place I call home. I am so excited to share my lovely canal front cottage with you and hope you relax and enjoy it as much as I do.
