About this property
Lovely waterfront cottage with stunning sea views and log fire.
Situated right beside the sea, Islay Cottage combines the warmth and comfort of home with wonderful, unspoilt views of many West Coast islands from Jura to Mull. Traditionally built for local character and charm, the cottage has timber beams and an open fireplace built with local stone. Fitted and furnished to an award-winning standard throughout, the cottage is cleaned and cared for every week by the owners.
The open-plan downstairs has a west-facing sitting area with comfy chairs, open fire, digital TV, DVD/video, CD player and free WiFi. The kitchen and dining area is to the rear, with open views to the woods behind. In the kitchen we provide high quality crockery, cutlery, and equipment, including a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave oven, washing machine and tumble drier.
Upstairs has a west-facing master bedroom with 5ft king-sized bed, fitted wash basin, generous storage and sea views. The twin bedded room has views to the rear. Bath and hand towels, duvets with covers, sheets and pillowcases are all provided.
All electricity, and coal for the open fire, is provided at no extra cost. Well behaved pets are welcome, subject to charges and certain conditions.
The small, friendly village of Craobh Haven (pronounced 'croove', after the Gaelic for a small tree or shrub) lies about 20 miles south of Oban, just north of Ardfern. There are many things to do locally including boat trips, horse riding, bird and sealife spotting and spectacular walks.

About the host
Hosted by Matthew Haggis

Matthew Haggis and Alison Hampton have owned and operated Islay Cottage since 1982, always maintaining it at an independently quality assured 4 Star standard. We love self-catering, and we love the west coast of Argyll.
Why they chose this property
Craobh Haven is a special place, with seemingly uniquely relaxing properties. People comment on how well they sleep there, how quiet and recuperative it it. They like the comfort and ease of the cottage, and often talk about the 'little touches' that make the cottage welcoming and, well, what it is!
What makes this property unique
Our guests mainly talk about the amazing views from the front windows (or when sitting on the wooden bench outside, sipping a local whisky on a summer's evening!) This is directly West, overlooking a scattering of Hebridean islands, which have the effect of breaking up the sea view and making for fantastic sunsets.
Many also mention the great walking form straight out the back door, and the huge variety of wildlife - from seals to red squirrels to herons to deer to sea-eagles - that can be spotted just out the window, or a short walk away.
