Luxury shepherd's hut for 2 in the Cotswolds - Aurora

Aurora is a large shepherd's hut near Lechlade-on-Thames which sleeps two guests, in an open plan bedroom, with a contemporary shower room. This beautifully presented retreat features a cute cabin bed, a gas flame effect stove and a raised terrace, the perfect spot from which to enjoy fantastic rural views and outstanding evening sunsets. Aurora is a dog friendly property, suitable for one small dog, and has access to the estate's additional facilities as an added bonus.

Accommodation
This spacious one bedroom shepherd's hut in Radcot is perfect for a romantic getaway in the heart of the countryside. Five steps lead up to the terrace, and then the single storey accommodation is laid out as follows:

Kitchen/lounge
Rural views, gas flame effect stove, electric oven with electric hob, kettle, toaster, fridge with freezer box, Smart TV and dining table with two chairs

Bedroom area (Sleeps 2)
Two steps lead up to the double bed with storage space

Shower room
Walk-in rain shower, loo, basin and heated towel rail

Outside
Large, fully enclosed grassy area and raised terrace with table, benches and charcoal BBQ

Additional facilities
Camden Farm Barns comprises seven properties in total and boasts a large estate complete with football pitch and canopy covered open games space, great for rainy day activities including ping pong and table football. Being just a short walk from the river, during spring and summer guests can rent a paddle board or hire the ex-MOD truck, 'The Goose', which sits on the riverbank, great for a picnic or BBQ. From August 2025, a six-person infrared sauna with shower will be available (see Finer Details).
All of these facilities are offered on a complimentary basis, and are bookable upon arrival at Camden Farm Barns, subject to availability and weather conditions.

The sauna can be booked for an hour’s slot between 9am and 8pm, subject to availability and safety guidelines
Guests are requested to bring their own towels to use the sauna and paddle boards
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

Excellent long weekend stay

The shepherd's hut was perfect in every respect. It provided us with excellent accommodation, and the gas effect wood burner was great for keeping the temperature just right. Super setting with lovely views and great walks nearby including a nice 20 minute cross fields walk to the pub. There are also plenty of places to visit within short driving distances.

Lovely stay

We had a fantastic stay at Aurora. Our dog loved the fenced in garden area that is generous for the property size and we found plenty of places to travel to within a reasonable distance. The lodge was exactly as appears in photos / description. We would consider going back (although possibly with family and staying in one of the larger properties on site).

A lovely place to stay for peace and quiet!

The shepherds hut was just lovely and had all we needed for our few days away. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom nice and clean. The location is just lovely and VERY quiet. It's also a good location for exploring the cotswolds. The little kitchen area (including a small fridge) was very useful and it was nice that the hut was already stocked with tea/coffe/sugar/biscuits and a bottle of wine. We had a lovely time....so nice in fact that it stopped us visiting places as the hut and location was so lovely! We were lucky with the weather but honestly, a really lovely place......we can't wait to return!

lovely Cotswold Shepherds hit

Had a great time during our stay in the Cotswolds. The Shepherds hut was super cosy , great facilities and location, friendly and helpful staff and fantastic secure garden for the dog . The manager let us look at one of the other properties that would be a great place should we return with friends in the future .

The shepherd’s hut exceeded expectations. Lovely accommodation and the little ‘gifts’ of biscuits, muffins and wine were appreciated. Lots of lovely walks on the doorstep including one to the local pub and a great base for exploring Oxfordshire.

Autumn Anniversary Break

Absolutely beautiful Shepherd's hut in a stunning location. We were impressed with the space and the enclosed garden for our dachshund, he loved it! Had everything you could need and was a lovely place to relax for a few days. Thank you, we will definitely be returning :)

Would definitely stay again

We had a few lovely days in Aurora and enjoyed the Cotswolds during a settled, dry spell of weather. Aurora's location is ideal to visit Burford, Stow and, our favourite, Bourton On The Water. Aurora was clean and comfortable, with a very good shower. The nearby Ye Old Swan pub offers good value meals overlooking the Thames. Overall an excellent experience.

Fabulous

Cosy Shepherds hut with fire pit and bbq on private ground. Loved the location. Nice to be able to play table tennis and table football. Not far from Lechlade where you can hire kayaks. Would love to come and stay again.

We used Aurora as additional accommodation while staying in Folly View for a large family get together. The two properties are next to each other and was very convenient. The property is well equipped and very cute! It has an enclosed garden and all the amenities you need. The area is beautiful and the facilities on the farm are very good and well thought out. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Great stay although very hot due to the heatwave. Lovely presented hut and great our door garden with Bbq and out door pit. Only one downside i feel was the steep steps to gain access to the garden. I think a addition of a handrail would be of great help also the steps are very shallow.

Quirky and dog friendly

Excellently situated to explore the Cotswolds with everything you need and very nice welcome package. Bed quirky and very comfortable if a little awkward to get onto for elderly person with knees! Lovely views and super secure field for dog. Sorry it wasn’t cold enough to take advantage of log burner.

Brilliant

Really good accommodation, the property has a nice private feel to it being on the edge of the collection of barns. You’ve got great unspoilt views to sit on the decking with a drink in the evening too. Bed comfortable. Shower very good for a property of the size. Minor criticism would be we’d have preferred just an electric kettle than waiting for the one to boil on the hob which was pretty slow. Overall a brilliant place to stay and in a really nice location.

A break away from it all

What can i say, this was the idea place just to relax and unwind. It was just perfect for me and my partner just to nip away for a long weekend and recharge our batteries. The shepherds hut Aurora was just perfect, the bed reminded me of Santa Claus the movie as Santa sleeps in a similar bed lol. I have really bad back problems and sleeping on that mattress was even comfier than our bed at home. The hut was extremely clean, well kept and gorgeous. I can't wait to book again

Another relaxing and picturesque stay

This was my 3rd time staying at Aurora and it was just as enjoyable as ever. My parents stayed in Honey Cottage this time around which is also a lovely property on Camden Farm. I arrived on my birthday, and between my Mum and Caroline they arranged a lovely welcome 'birthday' surprise; a beautiful bouquet of flowers and lots of sweets treats!! I always feel safe staying at Camden Farm and always look forward to returning. The location is ideal; secluded enough to be peaceful but also close enough to the town if you just need to pop and get something quickly from the supermarket or grabbing a takeaway. But also for day trips, it's pretty central that most places are between 40mins-1hr away within the Cotswolds. Look forward to my next visit!!

Perfect for a relaxing countryside break!

I had always wanted to stay in a Shepherd’s hut and visit the Cotswolds and Aurora was the perfect choice! The hut was so cosy and aesthetically beautiful just like pictured. The views from the hut at any time of day are amazing but watching the sunset will top them. As a solo female traveller I felt safe at night and I would definitely recommend it. Location is ideal for travelling to other villages and close to local supermarkets if you need any thing and the local pub, right on the river, is only a 20 minute walk through fields and is definitely worth a visit. Can’t wait to visit the Cotswolds again! Loren

Such a gorgeous place to stay!

This is such an amazing place to stay if you are a couple coming to the Cotswold's. Aurora is so beautiful with everything you need to a great stay (BBQ, outside seating, lovely farm with great facilities and a private road outside so virtually zero car noise). Easy distance to all the great towns and places in the area and brilliant for walks. We can't wait to come back!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Directions need updating when you get to the farm, but found it eventually. Hut is cosy and bed really comfy. Spacious. Good shower. Good views and location for exploring. Smart TV didn't connect due to internet I think.
