A very well equipped rental with everything you need for a short break.

We all loved The Thatch, which was perfectly located for a wedding we attended. Although beautifully decorated, the only negative was the amount of cushions on the beds in two of the bedrooms and the limited space to store them, which made space quite tight.

October break.

We had a lovely stay at Thatch cottage. It was warm & cosy & the location was perfect. Everything we needed was provided except we could have done with a potato masher. There were a couple of things that need sorting out which were the dodgy caster on the settee & the downstairs loo wouldn’t stop flushing!! Otherwise great Cotswold getaway.

Lovely Bank Holiday Weekend

We spent a very happy bank holiday weekend here with our kids. The cottage has everything you might need and is so beautifully appointed and designed. There are also really helpful instructions for everything.

A cosy and comfortable stay

The Thatch provided a cosy and relaxing stay for our family. It was well-equipped especially the kitchen and the beds were comfy. In general, the cottage was very clean, however, some corners had cobwebs and the glass lights could do with a polish. Overall, a very pleasant stay

Superb cottage

Our stay at Thatch Cottage was so very good. The interiors are super and very stylish, all kitchen utensils plus more are provided. We did not have to take anything but ourselves to enjoy this gorgeous property and it is central to the beautiful cotswold towns and villages. Would definitely book again.

Idyllic cotswolds cottage

The perfect cottage for a Christmas weekend away. Well equipped and beautifully decorated. A mirror in the twin bedroom would have been useful, but no other feedback!

Cotswolds escape - cute cottage

We stayed here for a few days. There were 6 of us. The cottage was exactly how it looks on the images. It did feel quite small as in parts, with 6 of us there. The cottage was nicely decorated with lovely quality items. The location was in the north of the Cotswolds. Great for walking. There are building sites both to the side of the cottage and across the road, no work was being complied when we were there. A little walk took you to the farm, which had some animal and a cafe. The restaurant there and the Turkish on down the road looked nice. The only problem we had was the downstairs toilet did not stop flushing straight away. Housekeeping did not return our calls to inform us if anything would be done about it.

Nice location but smaller than expected

The location of the cottage is wonderful. Close from the main attractive place of the Cotswolds. The cottage is very small and smaller than it appears on the description. It is well equipped anyway and when we ask for an additionnal kitchen ustensiles we were delivered fast.

What a gem!

Beautiful, charming, updated cottage with attention to detail and amenities. Pics are accurate. Well stocked kitchen with tea, milk, coffee to get you started. Comfortable beds, lovely bedding and towels. Nicely updated bathrooms. Conveniently close to Morten in Marsh - less than 10 min drive. Lovely small quaint village, didn't notice shops/pub. Would love to stay again!

Lovely House

The house was lovely and very clean. It had everything we needed but headroom a bit low in places. For those of you with pacemakers (like me) it has an induction hob so beware! It needs rubber mats for the ensuite and bathroom. Overall very comfortable.

A real rural gem

The cottage is everything it reports to be. Lovely, very well equipped and presented. Would highly recommend this place. Only caveat is please be aware that parking is very tight. Really only for one car. With little option to park a second car nearby. Otherwise a great place .

A very relaxing bolthole retreat

There were 6 adults and we really loved the cottage. Unfortunately my husband and I drew the short straw and slept in the twin bed room but all 6 of us slept so well and enjoyed very lazy mornings. The weather was perfect which meant we could sit in the garden with our gin & tonics! Lovely local walks and lots of blackberries to pick for apple and blackberry crumble! The cottage was very well stocked. We all thought the photos on the website made the cottage look bigger than it actually was but it was very tastefully decorated and homely and fitted all 6 of us very well.

Short break

We found lighting in lounge/eating area was not bright enough, a couple of the lights needed bulbs replacing. There were quite a few dead ladybirds around and in one bedroom, the one next to the bathroom, there were more around the curtain area. The cottage was comfortable and there was everything you would need in the kitchen.

A very pleasant stay in a nice cottage with a beautiful interior.

Bolthole Retreats is highly recommended if you are looking for a holiday home in the Cotswolds. From the first moment I opened the website I was surprised by the beautiful, pleasant and informative style. Crystal clear, everything easy to find. That promised quality for the offering. And that turned out to be true. Now in our second Cotswolds-style holiday home from Bolthole Retreats we experience the same perfection. Everything is there (kitchen equipment, nice showers and bath) for a pleasant stay, pleasantly and comfortably furnished in stylish colors and materials. The first house even with a well-thought-out interior design. Super chic and luxurious. But most importantly it is all clean and the beds are excellent. Price-quality is very good, especially compared to another (large) bookingi site.

Positives and some negatives

Some positives but more negatives Positives - emails on check in and directions towels and bedding were lovely. Storage good for clothes etc. nice to have dishwasher tablets and fairy etc. cottage is bright and airy, nice to be in such a lovely village - will be good when pub is restored. Negatives - the water tastes horrible and there should be a note to advise it is undrinkable beforehand. Your hands and hair smell of chlorine. Would be good to have a brita tap or filtered water to drink fitted near sink. Sofa was broken. House not particularly clean, we found others people's socks and a toy in the bedrooms and it needs a good clean around skirtings, plug sockets etc. Sad only six logs supplied for log burner, would be nice to have a full basket at least. You could not adjust temperature in Shower in en suite so the water was scolding! Frying pan in draw was so black and encrusted - needs changing. Water pressure goes up and down so two people cannot shower at one time. Normal tv cannot be watched - picture all pixilated. Thank goodness we had a log in for Iplayer and Netflix.

Beautiful cottage in tranquil location

The cottage is in a very good location in a quiet village which is close to main roads. Shops and restaurants within 3-4 miles. Beautifully decorated and well kitted out. Quality appliances in the kitchen and plenty of crockery etc good heating and hot water, plus open fire if needed. Any issues were responded to quickly and overall was excellent accommodation and customer service.

Good cottage, disappointing state on arrival, large vehicle traffic, garden next to road, dim lights

This was a well appointed cottage, but there were several issues: On arrival it was clear that no one had been staying in the cottage recently - confirmed by housekeeping and by the many spiders and their webs that we walked through inside the house. There were spiders in every corner of the house. The windows had also not been cleaned in quite some time and there were webs inside and out spoiling views. On finding the vacuum cleaner, to do something about this, it was in a filthy state and unusable. It had clearly not been attended to in recent times. Housekeeping did fix the hoover but made no attempt to rectify the cleanliness of the windows outside. We appreciate that old houses attract spiders, but this was ridiculous. There was an old damp mop left inside the kitchen larder that made the kitchen smell musty - not usable for hygienic cleaning purposes. The beds had not been made up with any duvets inside the covers. We were not there during the heatwave so had to make up these too. It should also be pointed out that the house is on a cut through road between the A429 and A 3400. This meant that a significant amount of traffic, including tractors and lorries, passed the house and garden (which is directly beside the road) with great regularity; so not the tranquil location we had hoped for. There is also a loose manhole cover directly outside that made a loud knocking sound every time a vehicle crossed it - so all the time. The pots and pans were all marked and damaged and need replacing. The tap in the en suite bathroom sink constantly trickles, and to get the walk in shower to work you have to turn the sink taps on full. Sadly this was a disappointing holiday cottage stay.

Delightful cottage in good location

Thatch cottage is in a quiet village 10 minutes away from all the facilities of Morton in Marsh. Provided all we needed for a pleasant stay. Very well equiped kitchen and comfortable sofas/ chairs and beds. There was off road parking by the side of the cottage for 2 medium sized cars.

Beautiful cottage in great location

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location only a short walk to a farm shop and lots of lovely footpaths all around. Cottage looked better than the photos, really cosy and well presented. Only issue was communication - an email prior to the stay was unanswered and the contact person did not reply to a text query about the location of firewood.

Charming, peaceful cottage

Thatch Cottage lived up to our expectations; pretty decor, cosy, comfortable bedrooms, a high-end well equipped kitchen and decent garden for evening drinks. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful location, with sheep-dotted fields viewed from the upstairs windows, and easy access to Moreton and lots of other lovely Cotswold towns. We’d like to have tried Scenic Suppers up the road at Todenham farm were we there longer, it looked great. Many thanks.
