About this property

Riverside Pied a Terre, in Town, Two Acre Garden

DESCRIPTION
Riverside Lodge is an additional holiday rental adjacent to popular Weir Cottage, also listed on this site.
Totally refurbished in 2020, Riverside Lodge offers bijou, high quality accommodation throughout. Cosy and independly gas centrally heated. Downstairs, a luxury fitted kitchen and cloakroom with French doors to a deck & outside seating. Upstairs, a small sitting area, QLED TV, queen sized bedroom & lovely shower room. PLEASE NOTE OPEN TREAD, PADDLE STAIRS ARE UNSUITABLE UNLESS SURE-FOOTED. SOME HEADROOM RESTRICTION UPSTAIRS.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE SPACE
There is no separate cleaning charge but we ask that the property is respected and left clean and tidy. The Lodge is exceptionally well equipped. The kitchen has quality quartz work surfaces and Neff appliances. Upstairs the small sitting area has a three seater bed/settee that would be suitable for maximum two children sharing what becomes a double bed accessed from one side. It is not suitable for toddlers nor younger kids because of the steep stairs. Not suitable for two couples sharing as the sitting area and bedroom is semi-open plan and only upstairs WC/Shower room is at the far side of the bedroom. There is a cloakroom with WC on the ground floor. Please note no bath tub, but spacious shower with very high quality fittings. Quality linen and towels ARE provided.
Upstairs is very light and cosy with restricted headroom in places. Dormer windows to one side and a window overlooking the beautiful garden and river. Off street parking for one car. Arguably, Riverside Lodge has the best position of all three units at the address.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GUEST ACCESS
Riverside Lodge has its own wooden deck immediately off the kitchen French doors. Al fresco dining not shared with others. Elsewhere the other two cottages also have their own outside dining spaces. The rest of the two acre garden is effectively shared. Children must be accompanied at all times outside as there is unfenced river, ponds and even a fast flowing weir. The garden is used by guests at their own risk. The lower garden and boardwalks in particular have multiple trip and water hazards.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
Stairs are steep, paddle design. Must go up and down left, right, left etc (not two feet on one tread!). Easy but unusual.
Large sofa only for two children sharing and used to regular bed (not adult couple)
Water and trip hazards in garden

About the host

Hosted by Shane Dowling

Host profile image
Had a career in banking and thankfully retired a long time ago! Mid 60's now. This address is my home but it is in three parts. Duck Cottage (not usually availble to rent); Weir Cottage (also on this site); Riverside Lodge (this listing). My parner has a house in Salisbury so Iwe are often there or abroad. You may or may not see me! If I'm at home I will not intrude but I like to welcome gusts if I can.

Why they chose this property

Warm and cozy, independently centrally heated. Since buying the cottage many improvements have been made too numerous to mention. The garden is a particular feature. Riverside Lodge is part of the detached, garage structure (above and behind) and over two floors. Kitchen and cloakroom is at groundfloor level and upstairs bedroom, small sitting are with sofabed suitable for two children sharing the bed and an ensuite shower. It was totally renovated in mid 2020 only opening (briefly) to guests in August, 2020. It is eeffectively brand new in most respects.
The bedroom is semi open-plan to the sitting area but divided by a wall and stairwell approximately the length of the bed. So, whilst there is no door between the two areas it is well screened.

What makes this property unique

Beautiful garden and close to national park. Only 200m to shops, pubs and restaurants. Own outside seating area with table and chairs. Off road parking.
