The town of Lake Lure is open, even though the lake activities are on hold. Come support our community and bring some love to this special place. Restaurants and shops are open for business and excited to welcome folks in.
Come enjoy our cozy 672 sq ft lakefront cottage with lovely mountain and sunset views. A beautiful, brief one hour drive from bustling Asheville, then four short steps from our quiet road and you will enter the top floor of the Turtle House, renovated to include modern amenities while still retaining it's rustic charm.
On the front entrance level we have one full bath (linens provided) with stack washer/dryer, vanity sink and tub/shower. Also on the top floor are two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen-size bed, ceiling fan and view of lake. Our second bedroom has a bunkbed with full-size beds above and below. At the end of the hall is an upstairs porch. Sit back, relax on our glider or chaise lounges and take in the views from your own private retreat.
Downstairs is the living area with original knotty pine paneling, comfy sofa and chairs. Our home entertainment options consist of books, games, DVDs, and Smart TV.
Adjacent to the living room is our kitchen complete with table for four, stove, oven, fridge, standard coffee pot, toaster, microwave and dishwasher to help clean up. If you'd like to move mealtime outside to the back porch, fire up the gas grill and keep an eye on what's cooking from our classic glider and chairs. Outdoor living is pretty sweet at the Turtle House!
While you are enjoying the scenery, mossy terrain, and boathouse deck, you will find for your convenience the second bathroom located off the back porch. Minimalist yet functional, it provides easy access to shower, sink and commode. This bathroom is winterized from October-April.
Take a few steps from the back porch towards the lake and you will be lured to the 10 stone stairs leading down to the deck on top of the boathouse complete with dining area, lounging chairs and some of the best views on Lake Lure.
Downstairs from the boathouse deck is the dock which will not be accessible through 2025. Due to the damage from Helene, the Army Corps contractors are the only vessels allowed on the lake until cleanup is complete.
The Turtle House is located on the northeast side of the lake. We are a Certified Wildlife Habitat, an idea inspired by the turtles who occasionally come to visit our 'back yard'. Other wildlife sightings include hummingbirds, black bears, and bald eagles among others.
Selected as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world by National Geographic, Lake Lure was built in 1925 and consists of approximately 1500 acres with 27 miles of shoreline. Enjoy the options for adventure or simply lounge on the boathouse deck whilst enjoying the mountain views.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Turtle House!

We had an amazing time, what a beautiful cabin! Clean, peaceful, and so lovely. When the lake has been fully restored, it will be the best summer get away. Loved it there and can’t wait to go back. If you are tall, be careful going down the stairs. Highly recommend this sweet gem!

Great place, beautiful area!
Loved the house, was everything we wanted, needed!
Overall the accommodations are great and we can easily recommend. It has all you need with no excess. The views from the dock are amazing, however the lake was unusable and down 12” being remediated post Hurricane Helene. It is worth noting that if you are large in stature it is “very cozy”.
Nice location right on the lake, though a little remote from restaurants etc., precisely why we stayed there. It is rustic and quite small but everything you need is provided - from kayak and life jackets to a full working kitchen.
We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. The dock area is a beautiful spot to hang out. The house is small, as others have mentioned, but perfect for two people.
We loved this property. The views are amazing and having a dock on the lake is the best. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking and just lounging on the dock.
The house is the perfect size and was well stocked with everything we needed.
Loved the house, best view of lake and quiet. Good fishing and swimming as well. It was the perfect lake house for my husband and I. Lake lure is most beautiful lake I’ve ever been to.
Stayed here for our anniversary weekend. Loved waking up to lake views every morning. The place was clean and had everything you would need. Close to town as well! We loved it!
My stay was so quiet and peaceful and the cozy little house was absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend this location and would book it again for sure!
Host recommended great restaurants
This small home is two story with the bedrooms and bath on the street level where you enter and the living room kitchen below where you exit the lake
Very quiet with great view from the dock
This place is now our favorite lake getaway. Small and very cozy with well-stocked kitchen with all you need to cook your meals. The owner is wonderful and very easy to contact. Highly recommended if you want to escape for some peace and quiet with such beautiful view. We will definitely be back!
