About this property
A family house that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms
Sparrow Cottage is a delightful cottage tucked in a little hideaway in the centre of Westbourne village. The property has four bedrooms but can be made available for 8, please contact us for more details. The property has been lovingly restored with period features and modern comfortable furniture reflecting the areas motor sport history at Goodwood. Westbourne is a pretty village with many rural walks, good local pubs in walking distance and a fantastic independent village bakery...not forgetting Whistler's chip shop! The property is a short drive from local beaches at Hayling Island and West Wittering.
Follow the path along the River Ems to the next village and enjoy a picturesque stroll along the shore and around the Mill Pond to the village. For adventures further afield, Westbourne is situated equal distance of the Cathedral city of Chichester and Historic Portsmouth and the famous dockyard with easy rail and bus links to both.
Walking through the front door into the hallway there is a lovely comfortable sitting room leading to the kitchen where every attention has been taken to make sure you have everything you need to self cater for your stay. There is a breakfast bar for enjoying a coffee in the morning or sitting together for a home cooked meal in the evening.
On the first floor there are three double bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Further on the ground floor there is one double bedroom, further shower room and sitting room with well equipped kitchen area.
To the rear of the house there is a lovely paved area to sit out and enjoy the summer evenings.
Westbourne is a charming village standing on the River Ems set between Emsworth and the beautiful countryside of The Downs. Although fairly small in size Westbourne boasts 66 listed buildings dating back to the 16th Century and an old medieval Church of St John the Baptist. The church is well worth a look around with its fine yew avenue which has even been said to be the oldest in England. A car is recommended, although you can easily walk into the village to get to the shops, pubs, and various restaurants, including a superb fish and chip takeaway.
By road you are perfectly located to get to the nearby historic city of Chichester, famous for its grand cathedral and famous Chichester Festival Theatre. Goodwood is a short trip away with easy access along the country lanes, perfect to skip the traffic on your way to events such as The Goodwood Revival. To the west of Westbourne lies the city of Portsmouth which offers wonderful attractions including the Historic Naval Dockyards and the impressive Spinnaker Tower, you can even hop on the catamaran or ferry to the Isle of White.
