Lynmouth is a beautiful seaside village twinned with Lynton, it's neighbour perched high on the hill above. The two are connected by road, footpath and the unusual funicular railway. The cottage is within walking distance of all the village gift shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as its harbour area and pebbled beach. There is a children's play park, tennis court and putting green. From the cottage, there is some great walking including the riverside walk along the wooded valley to Watersmeet, up to Lynton and the famous Valley of Rocks and beyond and also onto the famous South West Coast Path. The area is a rambler's paradise, with good walking across Exmoor just a short drive away. There are sandy beaches at Ilfracombe and pretty Devon villages to visit, as well as a number of tourist attractions.

We spent a wonderful week at Lorna Doone Cottage for our honeymoon in July 2021. We received the warmest welcome possible and were made to feel so special! The cottage was absolutely beautiful. It had obviously been recently renovated and very comfortable while retaining all of its charm and character. It was very well furnished and equipped - comfortable beds, excellent showers and a kitchen which had everything we needed. There were incredible views from every window, and particularly the balcony, where we spent several evenings watching the sun set over the harbour. Beverley was so kind and helpful, offering us advice on things to do and see in Lynmouth and the surrounding area. There were plenty of guides and maps in the house to help us plan our days. We would love to visit again in future and will treasure the memories we have of our stay!

Perfect location a little way up the gorge so great views but also very quiet. Beautifully renovated
Perfect location a little way up the gorge so great views but also very quiet. Beautifully renovated cottage with plenty of space, all the mod cons while retaining a lot of character features (heated bathroom floors a particular bonus!) No problems with parking, just a few minutes down the hill and a parking permit allowed access to a few different car parks which was helpful. Great places to eat including The Blue Ball at Countisbury and The Ancient Mariner in Lynmouth. Close to the many attractions in North Devon and plenty of walks on Exmoor with incredible views.

This is a very comfortable property in Lynmouth. Very good facilities and we enjoyed being able to walk into the village. Hardly moved our car from the car-park as there were so many hiking opportunities right from the door.

Lynmouth is a very special place to visit; the spectacular coastline and deeply cut river valleys in this unique area provide wonderful opportunities for walking; the South West Coast Path, the Two Moors Way and the Coleridge Way are good examples. The famous Watersmeet House is not far up the valley road, a beautiful National Trust tea garden situated at the meeting of the East Lyn River and Hoar Oak Water. The famous Valley of Rocks is a short walk out of Lynton. If this isn't enough, sandy beaches can be found within a delightful scenic drive.

Lynmouth has a good choice of gift and art shops etc, pubs and restaurants all within a few minutes' walk. The twin village of Lynton is perched on the hill above Lynmouth, and is accessed via road, footpath or the famous funicular railway for food shopping. Lynton also has a range of tea shops, restaurants, a small cinema, as well as tennis and bowls facilities. The larger towns of Minehead and Barnstaple are approximately 17 and 20 miles away respectively, where you will find the larger supermarkets, high street banks, etc.

There are plenty of attractions nearby, such as the steam railway at Woody Bay, the National Trust's Arlington Court and Dunster Castle, Exmoor Zoological Park, Watermouth Castle and The Big Sheep. There are a number of riding stables if you choose to explore Exmoor on horseback, or wildlife safaris in a 4x4 to view and learn about this beautiful area. Boat trips are available in season to see the coastal seabirds and mammals or to visit the stunning Lundy Island.
