Las Ramblas is a large boulevard which runs through the heart of the city centre: from Plaça Catalunya to the Mediterranean Sea.
From here you can reach Plaça del Rei (where King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella welcomed Columbus). The old town features narrow streets and quaint squares. Gothic mansions impede on the scene in Ciutat Vella (Old City), mixing well with the historic churches, bars and restaurants.

Ciutat Vella is actually numbered District 1, marking its relevancy to Barcelona’s history. Neslted between the Mediterranean Sea and the I’Eixample neighborhood, Ciutat Vella is considered the center of the city.
