This is an historic cottage that is full of old world character but with all mod cons. It had a wonderful garden with lighting enhancing its beauty at night. We stayed for a week which allowed us to both visit my son’s family and go on trips to Ely and Cambridge - as well as exploring Saffron Walden itself, to which this property is very central.
The hosts were very generous in both supplying a welcome pack of food and in providing a lot of the basic items that many do not. They were also very good over a couple of crockery breakages and in allowing a late check out as new guests were not arriving on the day of our departure. I would definitely recommend.
Helen and Alex, the owners, have literally thought of everything a guest might need...and made it available most generously. The location in the old part of the town happens to be perfect. To greet us there was a hamper with the basics tea, coffee etc but also all the ingredients for a full English breakfast. The bathroom was very well stocked, the bedrooms very comfortable, there is a little library of books, all you need for a barbeque and even 2 bicycles offered. We just kept finding things thanks to the very helpful manuel about the cottage which also included details of local events during our stay. Everything provided was of the highest standard and we even had a message wishing us a safe journey as we left. We highly recommend Miller Cottage.

Fantastic 16-century cottage with walking distance to everything.
A lovely cottage where every detail is thought through. Small, but very nice garden with a great patio, especially in the evenings with the garden lights turn on. Very quiet and safe. Great facilities, and walking distance to everything. 1 minute walk to nearest pub, and the historic centre of Saffron Walden is only four-five minutes’ walk away with lots of restaurants, café shops, butcher, take-aways, groceries, famous markets etc.

About the host
Hosted by The Grove Cottages
Hi I’m Mark After travelling the world, I decided to settle down in Suffolk twenty years ago and started my own little business with a beautiful old derelict farm complex, which I converted into six lovely little cottages for people to escape from city life and enjoy the wonderfully rural experience that this area amazingly has, despite its close proximity to London. I love what I do and am ‘Hands On’ with welcoming guests to my own six cottages, as well as looking after my Cottage Agency 'The Grove Cottages' that soon developed as other owners came asking me to take on their cottages and give them the same level of personal customer care, attention, and promotion that we are known and appreciated for. I don’t want to be a huge company, I’m very happy to have a small agency where personal involvement is always the priority and where I can pick only places which I love and know inside out to join us. I am always available to answer any questions and above all else I want you to be in a cottage that suits you, so you will become our ambassador. Please do ask me a question about this cottage and I will give you a very honest answer. Best Wishes Mark - The Grove Cottages
