A fabulous house that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Sleeps 6 - Burn Cottage is a property that you really need to experience to fully appreciate. It is a modern house occupying a private location right in the heart of the historic town centre with its own private gardens and off-street parking. Although from the outside it appears to have two storeys all of the accommodation is in fact on the ground floor and there is no upper floor. Once inside there are three generous bedrooms, one has an en-suite bathroom and all have king size double or twin single beds. The open plan living/dining area is a beautiful light space with patio doors to the front and back of the property. There is a wood burning stove, Smart TV and plenty of comfortable seating in the living area. There is a dining table and six chairs in the dining area from which you access the kitchen. This is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The door from the kitchen leads out to the garden at the side of the house. All in all it is simply a fabulous property and if you can tear yourself away it will make an excellent base from which to explore St Andrews and beyond.

Best stay in St Andrews

We had high hopes based on the pictures and location but the house exceeded them all. It's a wonderful location that is walkable to all of St Andrews including the courses. Waking up each morning and having a coffee on the patio and enjoying the private gardens surrounding the home was a highlight. We chose to cook breakfast at the house each morning and the kitchen was filled with all the cooking items we needed. Instructions for the house were simple and the owners had detailed instructions for every appliance in a book in the kitchen. Can't wait to come back for another stay.

Great location, but…

Location was excellent - literally a 5 minute walk to the centre of St Andrews. House was very well presented and overall very clean. However, the accommodation was badly let down by dreadfully uncomfortable beds in all the rooms, resulting in restless nights and back ache for all. It is a shame that despite the property being well invested generally the same attention was not given to the quality of mattresses. This is the only reason for a 3/5 score overall.

Chris I am very sorry that you found the beds uncomfortable. I can assure you that the owners have not opted for low cost beds and they are only 6 months old. We have welcomed around 15 bookings since opening the house for letting in May amounting to maybe 75 guests - including close friends "testing" the house. We have not received any negative feedback about the beds until this review. I will pass your comments on to the owners to see how they might want to address the issue. Beautiful House with a secure garden in the Centre of town

Very clean place with all the amenities you can possibly need. Perfect location, short walk to town center, great layout… we loved it! So did the dogs.

Beautiful Cottage

The cottage was very nice and had a beautiful garden with lots of flowers. It was such a great place to come back to. We went during The Open, and it was so close to everything including the Old Course, but just away to be a quiet little spot to retreat for the night. If and when I come back to St. Andrews I hope to stay here again!
