About the host
Hosted by Delia Colegate
We are just a couple of young silvers surfers who enjoy each others company and travel, be it England or abroad, Malcolm enjoys driving down through France. We go off for short breaks whenever we get a day free. Delia loves cooking and love nothing more than reading menus. Malcolm is a retired agronomist who still has great interest in nature and gardening and walking. We love to just jump in the car for a morning or afternoon a walk around a reservoir we have about five, all within half an hour by car from home we also love visiting East Devon again half an hour away. One of our favourite places is the South Hams Malcolm has working in that area for a very large portion of his life but enjoys nothing more than a visit to visit old colleagues or go to an old favourite pub. Our home is so central to the whole of the South Devon coat we are spoilt for choose. Even the centre Exeter is just the same half an hour away fully parked up, how good is that.
Why they chose this property
Teign Head Flat, Newton abbot is plainly what it says. It's a flat/apartment with everything that you should need for a quite break, for a week or fortnight. a small but perfectly formed kitchen a small but adequate lounge and large and open bedroom. Situated about half way between the sea and the moors. In fact you can see Haytor from the bedroom. the Flat is less than a mile from Newton Abbot Race Course. About a 1 mile from NEWTON ABBOT. What's nearby Dartmouth Steam Railway steam trains travel seven miles along the most spectacular South Devon coast down into the Dart Valley, a designated area of outstanding beauty; with stations at Goodrington Sands, Churston and the beautiful village of Kingswear which sits proudly opposite the pretty Port of Dartmouth.
Babbacombe Model Village. Take time out from the hustle and bustle of every day life and feel on top of the world as you see it recreated in miniature. Thousands of miniature buildings, people and vehicles capture the essence of England's past, present and future. Whilst in Devon a must is the Dartmoor National Park set in set in 368 square miles of moorland, ideal for walking cycling and a Visit to Widecombe in the moor.
What makes this property unique
A small village/town, a place that was once described the largest village in England, 11000+ population and now a town :-( . Which sits at the Head of the River Teign Which is the outlet for the river Lemon and it's estuaries . In ancient time it was the crossing point. Kingsteignton (/kɪŋˈsteɪntən/ king-STAYN-tən), is a town and civil parish in South Devon, England. It lies at the head of the Teign Estuary to the west of Teignmouth in the Teignbridge district. It is bypassed by the A380 and is also on the A383, A381, B3193 and B3195. Kingsteignton has a population of over 11,000. The threat of being incorporated into the nearby town of Newton Abbot prompted the parish council to change Kingsteignton's status to a town. The change took effect from 1 January 2009.[1] The town has two electoral wards(east and west). Their combined populations at the 2011 census was 11,147[2][3]. Founded in the early 8th century by the kings of Wessex as the centre of a vast Saxon estate that extended from Teignmouth to Manaton, Kingsteignton was a key settlement in Saxon times and gave its name to the Saxon hundred of Teignton.
