Everything was walkable. Quite a few choices of cafes and restaurants. The people were very friendly. The suite was adorable. And if you like people watching, there is a park across the street that you can sit in your living room chair and watch life going on. Pete was very helpful and accessible. Thanks Pete.
Really good value - everything that a small family needs for a break including a dishwasher! Lots of character with excellent views of the harbour and castle from the living room and bedroom on the second floor.Perfect for shops, cafes and galleries. Easy parking and a very pleasant neighbourhood to walk around day or night. Really appreciated the refreshments left for us by the host in the fridge on arrival. Would definitely return.

Very nice apartment with very easy parking and convenient for Kirkcudbright and its environs.
We stayed here for 6 weeks . The apartment was cozy and had everything we needed. It is centrally located in the town and everything is within walking distance. Communication with Pete was easy and although we had no issues we knew if there was a problem he would be available and it would rectified. We would love to come back stay again .

Annie was a very good long stay guest, looking after the apartment, keeping it clean and tidy, and very diligently organised the recycling. She is welcome back anytime, and I would recommend her to other hosts. Pete.
We loved overlooking the Harbour Square and great view over the River. Kirkcudbright is a pretty town with lots to see and do in the town and surrounding countryside. Pete is a thoughtful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Quirky, unique property on 3 levels, fully self contained overlooking the estuary and boat harbour.Safe parking and walking distance to everything in the lovely small town.
We had a lovely stay in this quirky little apartment. The kitchen lets it down a bit, but the bedroom is cosy and the living/dining room is a delight. It is bright and airy with nice artistic touches and great views. The location is excellent - right in the heart of a beautiful little town.

Thank you for your review. I am glad you had a good visit.
The apartment is very small and compact everywhere, which is especially noticeable in the small kitchen. Was it the size of it that you felt let it down, or are there other constructive comments you can think of.
Much appreciated.
Pete
Love Kirkcudbright and the view over the harbour from CORBIE Neist.

Anne was a very good guest, looking after the apartment and leaving it clean & tidy. I would recommend Anne to other hosts, and she is welcome back anytime.
Hadn't realised the bathroom was on the first floor and the rest of the flat on the second floor. We are mature residents so the stairs were slightly challenging. Otherwise a really good little home from home, in a great location. Pete was very helpfull.

Thanks for being great guests and leaving Corbie Neist clean and tidy. I added the stair carpet last Autumn to make the trip to the bathroom from the bedroom as comfortable as possible. The apartment is up some stairs, as you said, and I hope the view and sunlight from the top of the building compensated for the stairs.
Charming cottage style flat well decorated with interesting local art and great views out to the harbour and castle. TV a bit tricky to set up for local news and difficult to remove subtitles on bbc iPlayer. Bathroom a bit cold at times and not on same floor as bedroom and lounge. In need of some painting to upgrade. Otherwise very convenient for all amenities.

Thank you for your comments.
In my pre-visit email I described the winter heating regime, which included a bathroom heater which comes on for an hour early morning and an hour early evening ( prior to popular bathroom usage times ) and heats the towels on the rail. The storage radiator on the landing also heats the bathroom if you leave the door open and not closed. If this system did not work, please let me know and I can look into it. When I went to the apartment to do the cleaning yesterday, I did notice you had turned the bathroom heater off it's programme, so it may not have worked for you. I am afraid there is no room for a bathroom on the top floor so I carpeted the stairs and installed night lights specially for comfortable access to the bathroom at night.
The TV works with the internet and not terrestrial, so you access live TV by going to iPlayer for BBCs, ITVx for ITV, etc.
As I said in my introductory emails, you could have called me and I would have come over to make any adjustments, or demonstrate things.
Best wishes, Pete
We booked this house based on the nice photos and very positive reviews, but unfortunately, the reality was quite disappointing.
As soon as we entered, we were hit by a very strong and unpleasant smell of some kind of fragrance oil, which soaked into our clothes, hair, and belongings. There was also a general musty smell throughout the house, and an unpleasant odour coming from the toilet area.
The entire place clearly needs a deep clean and refresh. It’s obvious that cleaning is not done regularly – everything was dusty and not properly cleaned. I had to wipe down the tables, windowsills, and cupboards myself, and even vacuum, just to get through the two-night stay.
I was really surprised by the standard, especially after reading such good reviews. They don’t reflect the actual condition of the property.
Although the price was a bit lower than other listings in the area, I would rather pay more and stay somewhere clean and comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this place and definitely won’t be returning.
Dagmaar and Siegfried were very good long stay guests. They looked after my apartment, and left it clean and tidy. The laundry swap arrangement worked very well for both if us. I would thoroughly recommend them to other hosts, and they are welcome back anytime.
Hi, I am Pete. I have lived in Kirkcudbright for nearly 20 years, but currently live in the Galloway Forest Park area to the north, about 12 miles away.
Why they chose this property
I bought this flat over 20 years ago when I first met my partner who lived in Kirkcudbright. I bought it to live in myself, but have never needed to. I started to host AirBnb and VRBO in June 2022, after very extensive renovations. There is a dedicated area to park bicycles safely in the lobby.
What makes this property unique
The Living Room looks out over the Harbour to the North, and over to the Churchyard to the south, and is literally steps away from Butchers, Bakers, Cafes, Restaurants, Museums, Art Galleries, Designer clothes shops, Book shop. The Moat Brae across the road offers a lovely outdoor space underneath the Rookery trees, looking out over the river and harbour. Kirkcudbright is always a very active town, with Art Tours, A Cookery School, a Gin Distillery, a Planetarium, a Tattoo, Summer festivities, Arts & Crafts Trail, Jazz parade, Cycling events, Marathon running, and more. Kirkcudbright is a great centre for walking, cycling, wildlife, historic sites and touring.
