Amazing!

We had a really lovely short break. This cottage has everything you could need (no WiFi but we weren't fussed). Beautiful views over the beach, with nice big garden for the dogs to run around in. I honestly couldn't fault it.Hopefully we will be back again soon!

The location is perfect - beautiful views and very comfortable. Local beach a short walk and really great base if you want to walk locally or drive around the area a bit.

An interesting area to explore

Once we had located the property, the neighbours must get a bit frustrated at redirecting visitors, we were surprised by the gate and track up through the field over the cattle grids. Somehow we had missed this info in the advert entry to the property was as expected. The house was clean and well appointed. The heating was excellent as was the hot water supply. A good supply of games for the wet days. Overall a good property but some people would find the gate difficult to manage. Please prune the brambles beside the gate.

A little slice of heaven

The cottage is perfect...Amazing garden so big the dog thought he had his own field and the 14yr old, his own football pitch. Every need is catered for in the kitchen there was even weighing scales. The views are tremendous I could have sat in the garden for ever or at the kitchen table looking at the sea come and go. The beds are really comfortable and the shower is brilliant all the boys agreed too ... In fact I had to shout to get them out. A fabulous location to explore the wonderful solway coast. We didn't want to come home. Definitely will go back.

Sweet Life.

We love Dumfries and Galloway and this was our 3rd holiday in the locality. The Cottage was clean and comfortable, and well kitted out. The large grass garden area was brilliant for the 3 family dogs. The garden was secure, Was concerned regarding the low stone wall separating this garden with the neighbours garden, but all was more than ok, and the dogs made no attempt to investigate the other side!!. The rough gravel track up to the Cottage did present a few mobility issues for driving up and down. I have Arthritis and it was a bit of a bone shaker to be honest. From the cottage , the views were superb, and the holiday was totally complete for us when we regularly saw the wonderful Red Kites. Wowwwww. Loved our stay here and can highly recommend.

Lower Nunton was perfect for us four adults and two dogs. The log fire made it very comfortable. There was everything in the cottage that we needed. Only one little niggle, the bins outside the cottage were full of garden rubbish, so we had to take the rubbish down the track to the bins near the road.

The cottage is warm, cosy and really well equipped. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and we loved the views and the tranquility. The beds are comfortable and there was masses of hot water - the shower is great. The host was really responsive to messages and extremely helpful. If we visit the area again this will be the first cottage on our list to book - it's ideal as a base to explore the area.Dhoon beach is just down the lane leading to the cottage and the perfect spot for a morning dog walk.

Absolutely loved this property. Very roomy and great location. Cosy and warm. Very pet friendly with secured garden. Views of bay are amazing. Easy access to beach and 5 minute walk. The only thing we wish it had was a cloths airer as weather can be unpredictable at times. Overall we had a great stay.

Certainly not 'exceptional' as the reviews state

Just returned from a week at Lower Nunton. Not happy at all with the unpleasant aroma on the twin bed mattresses, duvets, pillows. Very uncomfortable, old, twin bed mattresses. Livingroom furniture should he disgarded as saggy, unsupportive and again, not fresh. There were slivers of broken glass on the livingroom rug. Luckily we did notice this before our toy poodles were hurt. The long uphill track leading to the cottage was overgrown, and should have been trimmed back to avoid scratching the sides of the car. Not a particularly easy walk yo the beach.Good views from the cottage, but the other issues outweighed those sadly. We had to wear shoes inside th

Needs upgrading

One bedroom did not have the bed made up,Even though i was asked before hand my requirements. The bungalow overall needs upgrading for comfort and has no proper instructions. There could be.clearer directions as the sat nav does not take you straight there and as there is no close shops it would be nice to have some milk etc left as a complimenty addition judt in case. It has a great garden for the dogs . One item that really needs upgrading is the small tv

Very nice cottage in a beautiful area. Amazing views from the cottage…it was nice weather so the views were breath taking. Nice cottage inside and out. Huge lovely garden. Nice, comfortable furniture and beds, lovely shower, fully equipped kitchen. Did I mention the views? Things to improve? No WiFi. This is marked on the listing. Didn’t bother us because our phone networks worked well. I really enjoyed the Pride & Prejudice DVD, there was a big selection of DVDs. The curtains were very thin and did nothing to block the wonderful sunrise. Fortunately we always travel with window black-outs. I will return for sure to this property.

A wonderful break

My wife and stayed here with our grown up daughter and our two dogs. The views were beautiful, and the large garden a treat for the dogs. There we walks nearby and many further afield. The house was very clean, cozy (especially with the fire), and had everything we needed to cook and enjoy ourselves. While there was no wifi, the 4g mobile signal was plenty to be able to stream films and programs on the TV. We were delighted with the house and location.

Why they chose this property

In 1985 we went on holiday in Dumfries and Galloway and fell in love with the area. In 1986 we went back to buy a holiday home. We found Lower Nunton, a total wreck, we turned our backs on it and said, "We must buy this view." We bought it and made it a second home for our family.
In 2007, my daughter was married on the beach and had her reception at the house. Now it is a holiday home for my children's families.
I started renting it in 2011 with a local agent then Trip Adviser . I have started renting through Owners Direct in February 2017.
