About this property
Galloway View - a lodge that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Galloway View is an architect designed lodge offering sumptuous accommodation along with stunning views across Fleet Bay. Situated on a working farm located about a mile from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet, which provides numerous opportunities for eating out, small shops, a delightful and testing nine hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. As the area is within the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain's first Dark Sky Park, a clear night will present amazing opportunities for star gazing with the naked eye.
As part of your stay, enjoy complimentary access to the on-site communal wood-fired sauna and invigorating cold plunge pool. Whether you're relaxing after a day of adventure or winding down beneath the stars, this unique spa experience offers the perfect way to connect with the stunning natural surroundings - including spectacular sunsets and some of the clearest night skies in Europe.
There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for both adults and children, including the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory offers both indoor and outdoor childrens play areas and chocolate making workshops. Slightly further afield is Galloway Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken.
Sandy beaches and rocky coves for bathing, windsurfing and sailing are within a short drive, the nearest being about 3 miles away; sea fishing and horse riding are also available nearby; the Forestry Commission 7Stanes mountain biking trail at Kirroughtree is around 30 minutes' drive away; and the area is a haven for wildlife, with regular sightings of deer, red squirrels, and red kites. From the cottage door there are extensive walks and mountain bike rides over hills, past lochs, through forestry and down the valley.
Slightly further afield but well worth a visit are Kirkcudbright known as the Artist's Town due to its links with the Glasgow Boys. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Planetarium, Kirkcudbright Galleries, a cookery school, community run swimming pool, 18 hole golf course, an array of independent shops and eateries. The small town of Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town is a must for all bookworms, both young and old. To the east is the popular market town of Castle Douglas, with its vibrant high street of unique independent shops, cafes and restaurants, theatre and cinema, swimming pool and golf course. NTS Threave Estate is located on the edge of the town with Threave House & Gardens and Threave Castle all worth a visit.
