About this property
Ca' Delle Carrozze Stylish 2 Bedroom loft-style
NEW LISTING!
A Mid-Century Modern vibe meets up-to-the-minute chic at this achingly cool new apartment on the Cannaregio / Castello border!
In a charming and ‘real’ district buzzing with residents (and the occasional tourist!) yet a gentle stroll to St. Mark’s Square and the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale, this 2-bedroom loft-style gem boasts a vibrant ‘flashes of the 60s’ personality and all the easy-living ingredients required for some serious ‘dolce vita’ downtime.
Situated on the 2nd and 3rd / top floor of the property (reached by stairs) along the pleasantly lively Calle del Cafetier (Street of the Coffee House), and stylishly restored with a keen eye on both the past and the present, Ca’ Delle Carrozze (House of the Carriages) sleeps 4 guests in fully air-conditioned comfort with Wi-Fi and a combined washing machine/dryer offering added convenience.
Boasting all the hallmarks of its wonderfully historical Venetian heritage – think traditional terrazzo flooring, exposed brickwork and ancient timbers overhead – the apartment has an air of architect-led design flair and exudes an aura of high-end living in accommodation comprising:
Stairs (no lift) rising up to the
2nd Floor
• A spacious, characterful and partially vaulted beamed main living space with beautiful exposed brickwork, a large sofa for lounging and a very striking glass-encased additional sitting area / study space furnished with a gorgeous Roche Bobois blue ‘Blogger’ buttoned sofa along with a wall of Mid-Century Modern wooden shelving with desk
• A stylish dining room to the rear of the apartment presented along similar lines and furnished with an elegant dining suite for 4 (with intriguing 3-legged chairs reminiscent of those by Danish designer Hans Wegner), beyond which lies a well-equipped contemporary kitchen with integrated appliances enclosed by sliding metal-framed floor-to-ceiling glazed doors mirroring the appearance of those found in the main living space
To the front of the property and overlooking the calle from their south-facing windows:
Ca Delle Carrozze’s 2 double bedrooms, which share a small balcony to the fore:
• The understated and simply styled principal bedroom with white painted beams, terrazzo flooring, a double bed and a pristine modern en suite bathroom attractively clad in white ceramic tiles with twin wash hand basins, shower and separate w.c.
• A 2nd double bedroom of similar style to the principal with a walk-through wardrobe area leading to a spacious and rather splendid en suite bathroom with gorgeous jade green vertical tiles, contemporary fittings and shower which is also accessible via the apartment’s central inner hallway
And on the very top (3rd) floor (reached by stairs)…
• A handy laundry room with a combined washing machine/dryer
OUR COMMENT
Loft-style Venetian loveliness with head-turning architectural features, all amenities close at hand and easy access to the city’s sights.
Sitting at the edges of Venice’s busier commercial heart in an area more in-tune with the genuine Venetian neighbourhoods characterised by gently flapping washing lines, sun-dappled courtyards and labyrinthine alleyways just waiting to be discovered, Ca’ Delle Carrozze is within a stone's throw of the monumental Dominican Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo (known as 'Zanipolo' in dialect - one of the largest churches in Venice and burial place of no fewer than 25 Venetian Doges) and on the 'right' side of town for visiting the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini.
A gentle walk to St. Mark’s Square (and to Palazzo Grimani and the much-photgraphed Libreria Acqua Alta bookshop both near the wonderful Campo Santa Maria Formosa), the richly atmospheric Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni with its paintings by Carpaccio, the famous Rialto Bridge and its food markets, and the dainty jewel-box church of Santa Maria Dei Miracoli – so pretty…
Within moments of a great selection of cafes, bars and restaurants including Osteria Alla Staffa, Trattoria Bandierette, Osteria al Mascaron and the small local shops along Barbaria de le Tole (including a flower shop and a greengrocer just steps from your front door!)
And within easy reach of Salizada San Giustina (where you’ll find the splendid old-style Gastronomia Ortis, a grocery shop since 1914), the little shops of Salizada San Francesco, the 'Punto Simply' supermarket near San Lorenzo, the COOP Querini supermarket on the Fondamente Nove and the COOP at Calle Del Mondo Novo (near Santa Maria Formosa) for all your self-catering needs.
Also close to the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Ospedale (with no bridges to cross in between) for easy travel around the city, trips to beaches of the Lido and visits to the glass-blowing island of Murano, the rainbow-coloured island of Burano and the ancient island of Torcello with its 7th-century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.
Beds will be arranged as either doubles or twins as shown in the photos. The possibility of turning a double bed into twins or vice versa can be found in the description and must be requested at least 7 days before arrival.

About the host
Hosted by Views On Venice
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice. The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite. The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
