It is tucked away in a quiet location within a busy suburb of Oxford about 3 km from the historic city centre and world-famous university. It is on a path set back from roads and has a private car parking space 20 metres from the house.

The house has an open and light ground floor with a living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room has a comfortable settee and arm chairs, and a modern TV. The dining room has a dining table and four chairs, and is adjacent to the kitchen.

The kitchen has a cooker with hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, clothes washer/dryer and storage cupboards. The kitchen is well-equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment including pots, pans and cooking utensils.

The front patio has a table and chairs and provides a place to sit outside which is surrounded by climbing plants and other greenery. The patio is south-facing and is sunny for much of the day in summer. There is also a small private outside sitting area at the back of the house.

Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a king-size bed, a single bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and shower. There is also a balcony that overlooks the living room. It has a desk, desk chair and lamp, and is ideal for working in a light and attractive environment. Free wi-fi is provided and the router is in the living room.

The house is less than 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Headington where there are shops, restaurants and cafes. There are numerous food shops including supermarkets and specialist food sellers.

Bury Knowle Park is a beautiful public park about 200 metres from the house. It includes a play park, hard courts for tennis and other sports, and a café. The village of Old Headington is a conservation area that can be accessed through the park. It includes an 11th century church and many listed buildings.

Headington has excellent bus services with bus stops that are close to the house. There are regular and frequent direct bus services from Headington to the centre of Oxford and the journey normally takes about 10 minutes. There is also a direct bus service to central London (the 'Oxford Tube') and direct bus services to and from the main London airports (Heathrow and Gatwick).

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Linda Ramsbottom and I live with my husband David and son Sam in a nearby house in Headington. I am a nurse and David is a civil engineer. We have lived here for over 30 years and love the convenience of the area. We have been Vrbo hosts for some time and our priority is to do what we can to ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay in Oxford.

Why they chose this property

This property provides a wonderful combination of convenience and peacefulness in a stimulating but busy city. The local shops include a range of food markets and cafes, and the transport links make getting around without a car very easy. There are also some exceptional public parks within easy walking distance that give an almost rural feel to parts of east Oxford. It is also close to the John Radcliffe Hospital and the other hospitals in Headington.

What makes this property unique

We love this property because it is green and quiet, yet very close to the facilities of Headington and a short bus ride (or 40-minute walk) into the centre of Oxford. The view from the large front windows is dominated by greenery and the path is only used by our immediate neighbours, so the front of the property is both private and beautiful. Our young granddaughter calls it 'the house in the forest'.
