Region: Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons in the South.
Town: This charming little market town is situated in southern Snowdonia, halfway between the sea and the massive Cader Idris mountain range. It's a fantastic home base for a trip, ideal for combining the many outdoor activities available in Snowdonia with leisurely days at Barmouth, Fairbourne, and Aberdovey's soft sand beaches. The town itself has a good assortment of stores, five pubs, a wine bar, as well as many top-notch cafes, restaurants, and bakeries that daily produce fresh bread and pastries. Dolgellau is said to have the highest concentration of listed buildings in all of Wales, with over 200 of them, and it has been classified as a "cycling break centre," with a number of specific cycle routes running through the town. The Coed y Brenin mountain bike trail is nearby, and the area is perfect for peaceful outdoor activity because it is close to mountains, forests, waterfalls, castles, and beaches.
