About this property

Romantic Converted Barn: Perfect St Agnes Location

Summary:
Tucked away along a beautiful country lane, Bower Barn is the perfect hideaway to shut off from the world. Wander into charming St Agnes; picking up freshly made pastries and coffee on your way to the beautiful local beaches. Then it’s back home to slow evenings by the crackling fire during the cooler months, or alfresco suppers under the stars in spring and summer. Ideal for two guests and your four-legged friends, or for solo travellers; enjoy one of Cornwall’s most-loved villages.

The Space:
This beautiful stone barn nods back to centuries ago, yet today it provides the perfect bolthole for romantic trips to the seaside. A gravel courtyard with a bistro table and chairs is an idyllic setting to unwind under the stars. Meanwhile, days will drift by from the comfort of your tree swing. Through the door, you’re met with the most stylish of nests. Offering reverse-level living, downstairs is home to a serene double bedroom where sleeping will certainly come easy. Finished with super soft linens, a selection of books and the comfiest of beds - enjoy lovely long holiday lie-ins. Next door, a contemporary bathroom is finished with a well-sized shower for early morning wake-ups or warming up after cliff-top walks.

Follow the stairs up and you’ll find a lofty, open-plan living and kitchen space which oozes calm and character. Dappled sunlight floods through the skylights, whilst joyful pops of colour create a space that’s uplifting and soulful. On warm days, fling open the double doors and enjoy breakfast with a backdrop of rustling leaves or head out to the sun trap courtyard in your private garden. The large corner sofa is a perfect spot to snuggle up as a fire crackles in the background and a film plays on the smart TV. The kitchen has everything you need and more to cook delicious feasts. The Barn’s location in one of Cornwall’s most-loved villages, with its blissful interiors and magical garden, make this an unrivalled coastal getaway.

Guest Access:
You will be able to access the main house, a private parking space directly in front of the property, a large garden with a solar-lit courtyard and an enclosed adjoining field with a tree swing. The house is on a small historic lane with a tennis and croquet club directly opposite (pay and play).

The Neighborhood:
Bower Barn gained its name from its location: tucked away down a peaceful country lane bordered by beautiful sycamore trees. Despite its peacefulness, you’re just a stone's throw from the charming village St Agnes - located on the north coast of Cornwall. You can explore lots of lovely walks straight from the front door (great for four-legged friends). Plus the surrounding area is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage site, so you’ll discover ancient tin mines and a rugged landscape that’s littered with history. On a clear evening, nothing beats walking along the coastal path to the iconic Wheal Coates. The sun sets right over the water, filling the sky with a rich spectacle of reds, pinks and oranges. It’s a wonderful corner of the world for avid walkers - set off straight from the door and spend the day hiking to the nearby Porthtowan to your south or Perranporth to the north.

St Agnes itself has a wonderful feeling, bustling with the local community and full of soul. Independent cafes, pubs, shops and restaurants line the roads: The Driftwood Spars, The Tap House, Taste and Schooners just to name a few. One mile out of the village, you will find the Wheal Kitty Workshops, home of Finisterre - Cornwall’s most-loved outdoors brand. Next door, a quaint coffee shop serves fresh brew and stylish surf wear.

As well as the village itself, there are tons to explore in the local area. Porthtowan with its magical tidal pools and Moomaids ice cream store. Or head 20 minutes south to the incredible Godrevy Beach, home to the National Trust lighthouse and a colony of seals. You’ll certainly never get bored here!

Getting Around:
A car is recommended but there are buses that come in and out of St Agnes regularly.

Other Things to Note:
With this being an old, period property, there are low ceilings downstairs.

Interaction with Guests:
I will be away for your stay but have a wonderful co-host close by who is helping me manage the property and can help answer some of your questions.

Little hideaway with lovely garden

A cosy retreat close to all local amenities and fab walks too. The garden swing was great to sit on to unwind and relax in the shade. The only downsides were that the small double bed was a bit challenging as it's not what we are used to, and the shower height was lower than head height [me being 6ft 2in]. Otherwise a very pleasant place to stay.
